I live near the Lawrence ,Massachusetts factory where a lot of them are made. They have a factory store that used to sell a lot of seconds for $100. Since Covid 19 and factory shutdowns, the inventory had gotten very low. Some 990V5's are for sale currently, but no 993's left for sale.
All this time I was like "wow this guy is a baller, buys 4 NB that look so similar" and after seeing this one I realize you are actually just smart and returned the rest. I own 996 and really like them but I think I will pick up a 990 because it's so different aesthetically and actually more comfortable for all day.
the only detail you did not mention is that plastic band on the side of the 990, which kills it for me. It just makes the shoe immediately look and feel cheaper. Especially when you put in on something as distinguished as suede.
