Very refreshing to see these videos. A lot of food related content on youtube became very broculturesque over the last years with big dck ingredients, elaborate preparations and questionable star chef attitudes.
Glad to see that people still can buy two plain chicken breast for 5 bucks without feeling existential dread

FWIW, there is actually a cantonese dish that uses the pith of the pomelo where you braise it (usually in an oyster sauce ish sort of sauce)… It’s delicious and uses the whole fruit!

I’m liking these grocery haul videos. I get a little self-conscious when buying meat from supermarkets too. Being a truck driver for a meat company would do that. Unhappy animals, it’s difficult not to support industrial meat, it’s everywhere. Would have to go to dedicated butchers with vetted farmers

Loving these market videos. Not only is it great to see the offerings that some of the various cultural markets have to offer, I love the added comments on the specifics of what you look for and why when picking out ingredients. As much as I love to experiment with new ingredients, I'm often ignorant of what to look for in a "quality" or ideal piece, like the ginger your described. Thank you for continuing to share your knowledge.

Love these videos, please make more! There have been some interesting articles in the past couple of years about the supply chain networks that Asian groceries in the US have developed; I think in a lot of cases they have fewer steps from farm to store, which explains why so much of the produce is fresher *and* cheaper. Always happy to support that!

Hi Kenji. Our family shops at this store all the time. I agree the fresh produce is excellent and very reasonably priced. A place you might find interesting for meat and ESPECIALLY hot sauce is Double DD Meats in Mountlake Terrace a few miles north of the Family Asian Market on Aurora. They have lots of regular cuts of meat and will do special cuts per request. They also have a very eclectic mix of unusual meats in their freezer case. But the star of the show is their collection of hot sauces, other sauces, rubs, marinates, etc. Checking this out alone is worth the trip! Hope you can make it there soon. Btw - what is your secret to keeping your stove top so clean. I've seen zillions of your videos and you, like the rest of us, will spill on you stove top. But the next video and your stove top is absolutely spotless. Products, tools??? Thank you.

I love going to our local Asian markets. I can find my favorite fresh celantro _with the root_ , I too buy Thai chilies 🌶️ and throw the extras into the freezer along with other hot peppers. They still work well to spice a dish when added frozen. I also buy sauces and welcome your suggestions. I’m still learning about noodles etc., and I’m with you on buying specific meat cuts there and also awesome fresh fish. Cheers!
