At the age of 7, that bass drum technique is too amazing.

I don't know if that is part of the original (Immigrant) song but it is very likely what her fans call "The Yoyoka Effect". She learns the songs as originally played, then adds "The Yoyoka Effect" which is almost always an improvement. She listens to a song 2-3 times then bangs it out. More difficult songs take her 4-5 tries. Just a natural. She was advising local bands, since age 6, that were playing in their home studio, how to play a song better. When she said "Try it this way, I think it will sound better". The band members all looked at each other, like "We have a 6 year old telling us how to play better, Really?". They tried it and said "She's right!" lol

7 y.o. Yoyoka's thoughts while she's playing a song like she's been playing it for 20 years: "When I get done banging out this cover, I think I'll have some milk and cookies."

There was indeed a ‘Yoyoka effect’ in the middle of the Immigrant song. More extreme examples are the drum covers of Steam or Sunshine of my love - they sound different / better.

Other major Yoyoka Effect covers: Uptown Funk (tension build toward the end is incredible, especially on repeated listens), Levitating (how deep in the pocket can you go before your head explodes?), Get Lucky (good gosh, pocket city), Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (subtle and perfect right down to the facial expressions), and many more.

Loved your commentary thanks. Yoyoka is phenomenal in every way. She's one of a few young artists i follow the other is Diana Ankudinova.

*Happy New Year to You, Your Family and Friends. It's 2022 in the UK!* 🎆🎇 The year hasn't improved yet. 🤔
Thank you very much for reacting to Yoyoka playing Led Zeppelin. She's joyful partly because she really likes John Bonham and Led Zeppelin.😄. She's done many more Led Zeppelin covers than any other band.
At 2:40 she laughs because she almost drops her right drum stick, but recovers without missing a beat 😃. She laughs at the end when she made a tiny mistake tapping the cymbal. 😃 Lot's of kids might be crestfallen at making a mistake. However, Yoyoka laughed them off. By 8yo she'd been playing live for four years. When playing live, what's done is done!
In 'Good Times Bad Times' she was playing 'triples' on the kick drum, two fast beats with one foot. That was a John Bonham trademark (IIRC he was maybe the first 'big' drummer to do it). Professional drummers, drum teachers, and Robert Plant have all remarked "that's not easy 👍". Nowadays, she seems able to do runs of fast beats with one foot, without using a double peddle.
As an aside; I like to glance at Yoyoka's foot cam before she starts. Sometimes there's lots of drum stick 'shrapnel' after she's destroyed drum sticks. I assume it's going to be fast and furious. Fortunately, she's been sponsored by Pearl drums and Vic Firth drum sticks since she was 8yo, as well as Zildjian cymbals, CYMPAD accessories and DW foot pedals.
She's also played Roland Electronic drum kits several times. For example, she was in quarantine, and not at home, yet she had Roland e-drums. I guess they are much quieter than an 'analogue' drum kit. I believe she was getting ready for a Roland event. She looks very happy to have a drum kit; she's 'dancing' along while she plays: 'Radiohead - 15 Step / Drum Covered by YOYOKA' (4m10s) czcams.com/video/oxdd6yOKzx0/video.html The boy, cinematically placed in the background, is her young brother Shido. He also plays drums, guitar and sings.

I noticed you at Yoyok's drum improvisation. I hope you enjoyed that improvisation session. You did a very decent, lovely thing. I'm also impressed by your work ethic. Being up at 7am (or earlier depending on your time zone) and watching live streams! I was 'blown away' by how easy playing Toto's "Rosanna" has become for her. When she first uploaded her cover two years ago, she was concentrating hard czcams.com/video/6P-tTLmuKo0/video.html She even wrote in the description "This song was very difficult, but I did my best✨". Today she was having fun, messing around, while "killin' it"!
The original drummer, Jeff Porcaro, released a video explaining how fiendish that shuffle really is, and how to play it: czcams.com/video/NMI81yIlT0Q/video.html It is "non-trivial"!
Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2022.

This is the cover she posted on VIMEO on her HLGA entry that went viral and was noticed by Robert Plant which really got her noticed.

Great job Sir! Great reaction. Every video she releases, you can see her getting better and better. If that's even possible. Here is a very funky improv session she did with an amazing young guitarist recently. Her best work in my opinion. Next week, she will probably make a better video....lol It will blow you away. One lays down the beat, the other joins in, then it just takes off from there. 3 songs, I like #1 and #3 the best.
