@@obi-wankenobi2042 Yeah what about rats? Cockroaches? Mosquitoes? Snakes? Spiders? Raccoons? I could go on. Sad fact is if we do not keep numbers in check not only will more people starve but many eco systems will go out of whack. Same goes for deer, rabbits etc. Look into hunting and the need for population control especially when it comes to pests.

Facts
I live here in the U.S.A. As a kid living in a city with a housed neighborhood (as not in hi rise apartment buildings), I would shoot across the street at the neighbors roof, from our attic, which was always loaded with pigions. I used a pellet gun. No scope. Dead birds covered the neighbors roof all summer. He was a good neighbor and friend of the family. But he freaked out as to why there was so many dead birds only on his roof. He has passed away years ago but never knew it was me.
Have a thought where any misses might land, especially in a built up area! It is also illegal, in the UK at least, for any pellet to leave your boundaries. You could end up in a load of trouble.

Why does everyone think it's pigeon? it's pidgeon(never mind I must be having Mandela effect because i swear to God I Google it a year ago and it was pidgeon) they make good pets and are very nice but dumb birds no issue with killing them but they get a bad rap pigeons are cool

I had a rock-pigeon raised as an orphan that for many years continued to come into the kitchen every day for his snack. They are quite remarkable birds that would never have become a problem bird species had buildings in cities not provided either ideal nesting sites or where livestock feed-lots did not provided the best feeding opportunity. The actual problem pigeons are feral pigeons that roost in cities but descend upon rural crops in flocks numbering in thousands.

My stepfather was a farmer growing up and when they would plant corn he would encourage me and my friends to go out killing and shoot the crows and other birds, mostly crows, that came in by the hundreds to eat the kernels. I used everything from pellet rifles and bb guns to sling shots, blowdart guns, shotguns and even rifles. I never could hit one with the bow while flying but I have smoked some squirrels and rabbits with a bow, and yes it was valid hunting season for the latter when I did that, but the crews were just a pest like these pigeons.
Love this type of shooting I remember years ago shooting 45 doves in half an hour with a break barrel HW99 in .22 on a dairy farm in the uk we get no where near as many pigeons or doves as you !

I used to hunt these in the mountains. My dad loved eating them with me.
Fun fact: the Rock pigeon(everyday pigeons you see everywhere) are invasive to the U.S.(not native) and were brought to America by European settlers as a source of food, they are thought to be the first domesticated bird for their meat beside the chicken. This is why they are also referred to as the "Feral Pigeon" because they are essentially feral flying farm-chickens since they are domesticated this is also partially a reason why they're so use to humans.
Eventually they got out and now we live in this pigeon covered world

Hi Matt, maybe the off switch you talked about is because the shot placement is right on or right next to the birds brain stem, it's similar where the center mass shot are made for the snipers just below the chin (adam's apple) that would shot off any nerve stimuli from the brain to the rest of the body.

I know this video was a long time ago but I have to admit I keep coming back and watching it over again. Awesome video/editing work btw. I keep thinking about how many time and how many tanks of air you went thru😂. A bunch I’m thinking not to mention the ammo👍. Just looks so relaxing and therapeutic. So many targets and only so much daylight🤷♂️💯.

I work at a silo in limpopo and we hunt out the pigeons like this because they are a health risk we send it up to the less fortunate up in the location a few km form us

about the off switch you mention, i actually once threw a stone at a pigeon while camping to scare it off but it wasn't at all impressed. so i started throwing a little harder and closer to it until about the 3rd stone ricochet off the ground and hit it right between its shoulders/neck (unintentionally...). it actually was like it did a complete reboot. closed its eyes, put its beak between its shoulders and after ~15 seconds it started waking up and flew off. most bizzare thing i've ever experienced

I use a 12 gauge shotgun with a full choke on it you could shoot five pigeons of one shot at longer ranges. I know you trying to be stealthy and stay as quiet as possible so you got the right gun for the job.
