- We set out to replace a tired 351W engine with a new fresh engine with all kinds of goodies inside on a 1996 Ford Bronco. Through lots of sweat equity and determination we pulled it off over a weekend. Fun times were had and there will be many more fun times ahead for this sweet ride.

Beautiful truck !!!! Looks awesome and that exhaust sounds perfect
That’s one sweet Bronco!! I am so jealous!!
Hell yes just dig right in!! . I want to do this so bad.
Man that sounds great.
Like those valve covers!
Good job on the video.. other than music playing during the engine runs. The wild bronco is a gem.
Many thanks! Yes the music was def a mistake. I did make another trying to give more details and specs.

I have my dads 94 f250. I want to swap the engine with a crate, but I feel bad for not rebuilding the existing engine. That engine went through hell for us and still works great
Old school Bronco is still the best!
I'm doing my swap this weekend, hopefully it'll be as painless as yours. Did the AC and power steering pumps go on with the bracketry from the 302?
Did you swap the 5.0 out for the 351? If so did you have to do any rewiring anything additional then just pulling it out and swapping
Why play the music when we are trying to listen to that engine? ☹️☹️
DH D agree. I’ve got a lot to learn. I’d much rather listen to the engine hum along. Thanks for your input...appreciate and well taken.
Follow The Builds beautiful bronco though . I’d like more info on the engine build . I have the same one . Can’t seem to find anything for mine . Input would be well appreciated.
@@FollowTheBuilds The video recording doesn't do the exhaust note justice, so the Music makes the video more fun. Between the road noise, tire hum, and exhaust, it really all blends together driving down the highway. I just turn the stereo up and enjoy it all!
@@heatherluchak2725 hey what kind of vacuum reservoir did you put in place of the original??
that is on my hit list. Where did you order your engine from?
wat exhaust system is on the bronco trying to find a duel pipe for mine that will hum loud and proud
where did you find the edelbrock intake. I have been waiting for over 3 months for one I ordered and nobody seems to have 1 in stock.
Nice build bud!
Sounds sexy, what do you have for exhaust from headers back?
Where did you get the valve covers from?
Amazing!! Are u using the stock camshaft???
Did u use same original 8 fuel injectors and spark plugs? Would u recommend this engine still?
What engine did you use
I am wanting to do the same thing on my 89. Where did you get the engine?
What size tires are those, on what size wheels ? They look just right
I have a 96 F150. Please tell me where i can get 1996 bronco 351 windsor complete engine? It has to be year specific 96 to be exact because of the fact of the fact that my truck is OBD2
Where’d you get the new motor from?
Hey where did you get that long block from Im going to do mine. I like your set up and what upgrades did you do other than the headers
I bought a remanufactured one straight from Ford. It's spendy but has a 3 year unlimited mile warranty. Totally worth it.
what step is that?
Good job fellas - where y’all located in TX?
how much did you payed for that engine and where..? thanks
Congrats! Did you install the Edelbrock EFI intake? If so, did you have to clearance the firewall to make it fit?
Thanks! It did have clearance issues. A few taps with a hammer provided the needed clearance (including engine torque). Will you doing a swap?
Sorry for the delay... Owner of the Bronco here. I did indeed have to clearance the firewall, and I really wish the camera had been rolling. It didn't take much, but it was a little difficult to aim for exactly the right spot. I ended up clearancing too far toward the middle mostly, but I eventually got it to fit.
Fine the transmissions suck in the bronco
What did you do about waking the transmission
Can you share where the engine was bought I want to do the same, also if not asking to much can you share the hp and
What kind of lift and tire size is on the bronco? It looks clean. I have a 96 bronco Eddie Bauer
6" lift with Deaver coils and leafpacks on 35" Mickey Thompsons. I had to add some shims in the back to get the driveline angle right, but otherwise it was a pretty simple lift to install.
I'm getting ready to do a 351w swap in my 96 bronco with a 302, just gonna do a cam and the edelbrock intake
James Hood did you do the swap and did you have any issues with wiring, PCM, fuel rail/fuel pump? I have a 96 and I’m planning on a project but I’m curious about those issues right now.
@@jpvision8047 no not yet, been waiting on parts, all the plants have been shut down so its been hard to get engine parts, have my short block assembled just waiting on the edelbrock intake and a few other things
@@jpvision8047 no issues with any of the wiring, or anything, my truck is maf so it adjusted to the 351w flowing more air, took it about 50-100miles, also had it dyno tuned
What kind of vacuum canister did you put in place of the original??
Everything not associated with the motor is stock.
Where are y’all located?
What part of Texas are y’all in ? I’ve got a 95 bronco . Rhino lined inside and out and I love it . 144,000 miles on it. I’m in Lubbock
Fort Worth!!
I have a 88 with new crate 351 h.o runs amazing but it stalls and idles rough when first started and sometimes it misfires when past 2500 rpm. Anyone know what could be the problem
Bad fuel pump, as the RPM increases going down the road the fuel and pressure demand increases in a bad pump will then not be able to deliver and will start to bog or sputter and stop so I would definitely look into the fuel pump.
I have the f150 95 4.9 i would like tho swap for the 351
Would have enjoyed it better if you what more into detail with the steps. Why did you put Walmart antifreeze in your brand new engine?
Awesome build. What side steps are you running there?
what i wouldn't give for that engine in my bronco!
Too Short. This could have been 30 minutes filled with mistakes and triumphs. Expand on videos like this with lots more details. Now to go look at the other CZcams video with the specs. Foolish Question. Does that Bronco want to come live with me in Florida? I'll be sure to show her some love with awesome beach cruises. She's a Beauty.
What headers did you use in this build?
Hey there! www.lmperformance.com/25509/58150bc-bassani-headers-for-bronco-351w.html
For the other items they can be found in this video link. czcams.com/video/kfBFzpZt8ko/video.html
Did you bronco originally come with the 302?
Cesar Carreon no this was a original 351w.
Tagging Heather Luchak...good friend and owner.
Follow The Builds oh awesome, is there a reason why you swapped it for another 351? I’m asking because I’m a new bronco owner and want to know what is expected. Mine is a 1993
Where are you guys out in TX? I need some help swapping in a new 351 in my 95 :)
Fort Worth. Bring it on!
@@FollowTheBuilds sweet whats the best way to get in touch?
Anyone know what nerf bars are on this thing? Those are way better than the Westin style.
Look up N-fab. I have a set for my bronco sitting in the box still. They are only available in black or chrome. My guess is those were powder coated.
@@DChikaliAPhX I've been on their website and they don't have it listed for this body style. Only the new bronco. I wonder if it's discontinued.
Help I have a 83
I have a donor car and I'm stuck
The tail lights those aren’t factory I have a 95 Eddie Bauer on 35s
Engine specs??
I’d love to know how much a motor install like this costs
Motors can be had anywhere from $2,000 for a stock rebuild all the way up to $10k for a big stroker with chrome accessories. Just depends on what you're looking for. Installs can get pretty pricey depending on what shop you go with. It can be a daunting job, but is really pretty simple when you break it down into smaller chunks. When I pulled this one for the second time I was able to do it in a half day with basic tools in my garage. Install took a full day, but she was running before I went to bed!
Any info on the engine build? Thanks in advance
Jigsaw Pulse very sorry about the delay of game here. Here are some specs:
A completely redone and HO prepped 351w. The heads are a Ford high performance casting GT 40P Ford casting only with a 3 angle valve job, and semi short side port work for improved bottom end torque and increased performance. The valves and springs are all new. The camshaft is a .499/510 lift Hyd. Roller camshaft which we can setup for FI or carb by Trickflow. It has a set of Hyd. Roller lifters as well as a double roller timing set. It has an Aluminum timing cover and is a Stock style 28oz harmonic balancer. ARP set of head bolts and a complete Fel-Pro set.
@@FollowTheBuilds Also used an Edelbrock intake and bigger BBK throttlebody. Basini headers, Y-pipe, and exhaust finished it out!
@@FollowTheBuilds thank you for such a detailed response. Wonderful work! I like the bronco very much
What injectors did you use with this build?
Stock 19lb on the 351. Stay tuned for an update though.... I swapped in a 427 and used 30lb injectors!
6inch lift
Nice video guys . I want to swap my 302 for 351w but might be too much hassle for newbie like me
HondaClubVelingrad you got this! Get a good sharpie and some masking tape for labels. Go slow on disconnecting everything. Take some pics/vid.
HondaClubVelingrad will you be going to with a carb? Or fuel injected?
@@FollowTheBuilds Engine swaps really aren't that difficult if you have the time and space. Just keep good notes and keep track of all the parts you have to take off and reinstall later! I don't even think that we lost any bolts during the swap!
Are people purposely not liking the video to keep it at 351? Haha.
Can't hear the new engine because that blaring music...
I like that bronco! When you get a chance check out my before and after video of my bronco @ Billy freeman
Billy Freeman 🙏🙏🙏
Will check it out!!
I have the same motor in my 93 E150 Club Wagon Van. I would like to replace the current motor and TRANS that's almost 30 years old, with a completely rebuilt/manufactured motor and trans.
Where can I get them turn key drop in and go...
Can that ear pollution
You have to get rid of that music, nice looking Bronco though!
Jason Peters understood lol! Thank you!
Why the music, ruined the video
Stop the music!
