I love how you three reacted. this song can be for any occasion, it can be for a breakup, for revenge, or for a divorce. but this song is even more specific to her old records label (Big Machine Records) and Scott Borchetta. This expresses Taylor's heart to him, for he caused Taylor to re-record all of her albums (Taylor's Version).
Love how you put that!
Also, considering one of her first singles was Teardrops on My Guitar, can you imagine the teardrops ricocheing off the guitar? This woman is a genius.
Yes! I caught that!! She's a lyrical genius
The stolen lullaby line hits soo hard
That line made me realize the song wasn’t about saying goodbye to a lover but to the recorder, the first “home” she had in her career and now she has to fight them for what belongs to herself
This song is about the end of her relationship with Scott Borchetta, head of her first record label, who sold her masters out from under her to Scooter Braun, one of the industry executives she despises the most. Scott took her on when she was 15 and in some ways was like a father to her, so this cut incredibly deep. The lyric that sounded to you like “you wear the same shoes” is actually, “you wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me.” The jewels are her songs.
Lol yeah we’ve had just a few comments telling us all this
Thank you. ❤
@@TAHBofficialY’all need to listen to ‘Vigilante Shit’. It’s about Scooter Braun. 🔥
@@spikeluv84they have already reacted to it
@@spikeluv84AGREED!! That’s the best song about her heartbreak with Scooter.
wait until you sit through the lyric video for All Too Well (10 Minute Version) that’s gonna make you feel so many things. afterwards i would recommend you do a second video for the short film. it’s taylor’s magnum opus! (if y’all read this be sure to thumbs up so the brothers will react to it!)
I second this. I've subscribed just to see if they do react to All Too Well (10 minute version) and Would've' Should've, Could've but ATW should be first.
I’ve become a bigger fan of the “Sad Autumn Girl” version
Dear John and WCS back to back!
All too well and Dear John.... until we jump to the latest You're Losing Me, which I could have listened to a thousand times.
Ugh yes!!!! That would be amazing if they had the stamina to make it through. They seem like sensitive souls so I’m optimistic!! It’s still my fave to date!!!! Great recco!!!
If you’re watching the long pong studio sessions, you should take advantage of the explanations she gives right before she starts singing. They can provide you with more context.
agree
They’re not part of the available videos. So.
@@Hey_Jamie Her speeches from the long pond studio sessions are all over CZcams 💀 it’s just two additional clicks. Especially if they’re interested in deciphering her songs.
How about you put up a song you want us to listen to and link them. Makes it a lot easier for us, thanks!
@@TAHBofficial Well, I went ahead and uploaded a list of all the long pond studio sessions (with links to the videos): docs.google.com/document/d/1qIk8BlUhLpZ_qKHeceQ6p0IUGCYRcpDmDSn3JmHPEKA/edit?usp=sharing
I hope this helps.
Relisten to it knowing she is singing about her Scott Borchetta her old label head. When she didn’t re-sign (“wishing. I stayed”), and he sold her masters to Scooter Braun (after begging and asking to buy them back), hurt her beyond belief. Then there was a huge PR war between Taylor, Scott & Scooter (“had to kill me”, “running around saving face”). References to “stolen lullabies” is referencing her masters. It is a brilliant piece of songwriting. I think you guys would love her entire folklore & evermore album.
Crying is both okay and encouraged. I feel like folklore was a timely release…bc we all needed a good cry.
This song is beautiful. It's about the 'breakup' between Swift and her label. The line about 'my stolen lullabies' refers to the master recordings the songs on her first six albums. You can tell when she sings this song that she's still pissed.
Great review!
Safe and sounds is the hunger games song! It’s from like 2012. This song wrecked me for months after I heard it. It’s not even about a person, it’s about her old music label, big machine records. It was a very messy and public breakup. “And I can go anywhere just not home” aka “I can go anywhere with my music bc everyone wants me but I can’t go back to the only label I’ve ever known”…. I hope Scooter Braun and Scott borchetta have eternal bad days for the rest of their lives. I love this reaction tho y’all are awesome!
That exhale at the end. That was tough one for her to get through. The swifties know what it’s about for her, but I like how she leaves so many of her songs open to interpretation and applicable to everyone else’s experiences.
I hate when people say they can't wait for another breakup so she can write about it! This song is about a lot of pain but not from a boyfriend. She was with her partner like 4 years at the time that this came out. 5 of her 10 albums have been put out while she was with him. The reality is, she is a fantastic lyricist with or without breakups. I would argue that when she was happily in a relationship was when her best music was put out.
Exactly nicely put
Honestly, even if the song was about a relationship break up. Or people prefer her songs when she's heartbroken. It's just a shitty thing to say. Want. Wish for.
Even if it was about relationships so what. Like life is about relationships and they’re how humans work and operate. She’s great at writing about them, they resonate with so many
Its technically a song about being betrayed by someone closest and most beloved you
Taylor did Folklore and Evermore during Covid. You should watch the entire documentary. One of my favorite songs from the Long Pond doc is "Exile" with Bon Iver. It's F-ing magical!
Love when men can be vulnerable. Taylor has touched my soul many times. Listen to Exile
Just for reference, the pianist is Jack Antonoff, who has been her primary producer lately. But he's also part of Fun, Bleachers, and Steel Train, and produces for a LOT of other artists. The guy on the guitar is Aaron Dessner, who has collaborated with her a lot lately as well. He is a founding member of The National and collaborates with and writes for a bunch of other artists, too. All three of them are skilled playing multiple instruments.
Keep listening to Taylor. She helps us all feel our feelings, which is something we all can use some help with. You guys are pretty great. Keep feeling your feelings.
I just know Scott borchetta watched this and her eyes locked on him through the screen and he definitely was like fuck she’s glaring at me
The stones she mentioned are about the songs she wrote, songs. that have to be put aside and some turned into big hits, like precious stones. The jewelries he wore as he `buried her" were the awards her songs got.
We've all had an occasional good shower cry listening to Taylor Swift. 😅
My favorite Taylor song. God, it's brilliant.
I would 100% recommend this is me trying. It is such a lyrically beautiful song and is so powerful. Great reaction!
I believe this is about the death of her relationship with Scott Borchetta, founder of Big Machine Records. I believe Taylor, as a young teen, was his first client…. so his whole label was basically built on her music. Knowing Scott since she was a teen and over her career, he was like a family member to her…which is why the betrayal of selling her masters hurt even more. (Stolen lullabies)
I love what this song is actually about but also i feel this song on a visceral level for the abusive relationship i had with my mother who had BPD and going no contact with her. The chorus applies so well. The anger i feel about how i don't have it in me to leave "with grace" per se but then she's all cursing my name, wishing i stayed, and I'm the one left crying but maybe Ricocheting, like Taylor says at the end my tears turning into your tears. That is a twist on the lyric that only appears in this performance of it and i love that little lyric. Also of course "i can go anywhere i want, just not home" fits a little too well. "You turned into your worst fears" and "drunk on this pain", applies way too well to my mom too.
So this song is actually about Scott Borchetta at Big Machine Records who owned her masters and sold them to Scooter Braun
Evermore in general but also specifically the title track, Marjorie, tolerate it, Coney island, and champagne problems are just gut wrenching sad gold. Also a few from folklore but especially, this is me trying and Hoax.
I recommend listening to the discussion she has with Jack and/or Aaron before each song on Folklore. Gives you so much insight into the lyrics…then you listen to the song like you are now. It really adds to the enjoyment of each song!
A lyrical queen, she always hits a little too close to home so I get it jake 😔 in the full long pond studio sessions she kind of explains every song before they play it, it’s actually really cool to watch. I love seeing y’all like the song and appreciate her work :’)
You should also do the long pond video for “peace”!! And another sad fav from her is Clean from the 1989 album!
Yess!! Clean is so good! I’d actually highly recommend her live performance of it from the 1989 tour, there’s a tiny added section that’s different from the studio version and it hits so hard
We’ve all shower cried to folklore at some point ❤ 😂 great reaction!
This is a great song. I guess you can say that this is a breakup song. _Breakups_ can come in all forms, right? In this case, it is a breakup of a business partnership, a breakup of a professional relationship, a breakup of a friendship, etc. The potent lines that you (Evan) and Jake pointed out, I really love--"You wear the same jewels that I gave you, as you bury me"; essentially saying, "You are disparaging me in public, after everything I and my music have done for you. I helped make the label what it is, and you made a lot of money off of me, and you are willing to screw me over". And the line, "I can go anywhere that I want, just not home"; she can have/get anything she wants in the world, just not _her_ music. And her music is _her home_ , a place where she finds solace and comfort. It is a very beautiful piece of lyrical art.
If you do more reactions to the Long Pond Studio session, i recommend listening to the explanation she gives before each song as well!
If this makes you teary eyed then you should watch This is Me Trying, also from the Long Pond Studio Sessions. If you do, please also listen to her deceive what the song is about before they start playing. That one will get you.
Her live version of this in the tour is jaw dropping
Lisa here!! Thanks so much guys for listening to this. Your reaction was really authentic and raw…very relatable. Next recommendation would be her impressive Folklore trilogy that is completely fictional but her writing is so incredible that it feels so real and personal. The trilogy songs are- Cardigan, August, Betty, in that order. You’ll be able to relate for sure! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thanks for the suggestion Lisa!
Chronologically though it's the events of August that lead to Betty which then leads to Cardigan written from slightly older Betty's perspective.
@@kirstymcauley6659 that's true! For me it feels more cinematic when starting in the aftermath that then reflects on what occurred. But either order is exceptional
I love watching people watch Taylor and recognize how much she has grown as a singer, composer, and most of all story teller! She is absolutely amazing! Pssssst Taylor does not need a break up to throw down a masterpiece album, js!!!!!
This song can be interpreted many different ways, including a breakup. However we believe she actually wrote it about losing her first 6 albums. Scot Brochetta who gave her her first redord deal, sold the masters of her first 6 albums to a third party (and specifically to someone Taylor really dislikes). This is why she's re-recoding them, so she can own them.
Yes yes im so happy you get to see her acoustic performance, this is just a taste of her fantastic writing, its not all big bops, which are great but these quieter piercing songs are why im a fan
I love how you refer to Jack Antonoff as her pianist. He is one of her head producers/collaborators. But also in both the bands Fun and Bleachers
All Too Well (10 minute version) and Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve should be your next listens!
it's somehow more heartbreaking knowing this was about her masters
Jake, you are beautiful, I love that you feel the feels and aren't afraid to show it 🤍🤍🤍
This is me trying & Peace!!! And after with long pond, should listen to the backstory before each. Great reaction ☺️ always say people who only know “radio Taylor” are missing out. Her deep cuts are the best
Oh and if you love sad Taylor, You’re Losing Me that just came out a couple months ago is one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard
This is poetry, pure poetry.
Indeed. Some of her songs are truly a special level of poetic and this is one of the few.
I love your commentary on her music! If you want a song that’ll make you cry, watch her live performance of the song Ronan at the St. Jude’s fundraiser. You can’t not cry with that one.
This is one of my favourites, so when she performed this at the eras tour along with the visuals. So gorgeous. Id love to see them react to that and tolerate it
You guys really need to react to "The Eras Tour" version/performance of this song. To me, much more impactful.
Great to see you reacting to Taylor Swift and appreciating her lyrics. She is a poet. I recommend you listening more songs from "Folklore" and "Evermore", especially Tolerate it.
Shes talking about her masters being sold underneath her..... when she says "u hear my stolen lullabys" its her masters stolen from her by Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun
2:40 in the words of Taylor Swift herself, “effortlessness is a myth” 😉 but really, what I’m using that quote to portray here is that I’m continually impressed with the clarity and overall improvement of her vocals. I’ve been a fan of hers since 2006, and not gonna lie…in the beginning, her vocals were sometimes questionable during live performances. I still loved her, but I knew she wasn’t getting famous because of her singing skills. The improvement is in no small part due to a tremendous amount of effort, I’m sure.
P.S. the lyric is “you wear the same jewels 💎 that I gave you, as you bury me”…I literally always sing “shoes” instead of jewels as well. 😅
Dying laughing, I thought I was the only one haha.
Yeah I’m an idiot so don’t ever listen to any breakdowns I give on songs 😂 but I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who heard that!
@@TAHBofficial keep ‘em comin’! You 3 have thoughtful analysis and it’s more than welcome here. Thanks again.
Another powerful performance-probably the MOST powerful IMO-grammy performance of All Too Well. It may get blocked but you guys should just watch it anyway. So good.
Safe and sound from the hunger games is slow and beautiful
you should listen to the intro into this song, all of the ones in the long pond session, they talk about what her thoughts were when writing the songs. Also, most songs on this are slower. "Exile" with Bon Iver from the Long Pond Sessions is great also!
I’m so glad I found you guys!!! Love seeing people experience her lyrics and music for the first time!! Watch this on eras tour, it’s a little more angry and I love that vibe also. Here is raw and hurt the eras tour is like f you Doug lolol (21 jump street)
I cried when he said he goes in the shower to cry, what are we doing to our men?
When you watch a reaction video knowing there will be pauses, then get pissed when the keep pausing. 😅
Staring into the windows of my soul 😍
This song was written after her long time friend, He was with her from her country music days, Scott Borchetta sold her whole body of work, Taylor found out on social media the next day. It hurt Taylor hard.

Love when people put links 🙌. Thank you!
I was about to do the exact same thing with the exact same music kkkk
I've just subscribed because I loved your commentary on this song which I hadn't heard. ❤ And then I went and listened to Taylor singing Safe and Sound and loved it too ❤. Thank you gentlemen 😊
One of my favorite songs !
If you watch more long pond you should watch them talk about the song before they sing it too ❤
Exile and This Is Me Trying from this same Long Pong Sessions please :)
This is about her record label selling her masters behind her back to someone that she didn’t get along with. She was THE talent at her old record label.
This was a great song but now you need to listen to Taylor sing All to Well the 10 minute version and not the short film version which is good but the version she sang live on SNL of she has another one where it is just her and you see her emotions come out singing that song. It ranks up there as one of the best songs I ever heard her sing.
Makes me tear up every time
We need your tandem doing more of he.i love the reaction. start with the ALL TOO WELL 10 MINS VERSION
The verse where she says "You wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me" is incredible lyricism. Shes saying that scott borchetta is wealthy beyond his wildest dreams because of HER talent and success...and yet he totally betrayed her. Really puts into perspective how dirty he did her.
This song Is amazing ❤❤❤❤❤ Love you guys, kisses from Italy
The pianist is the guitarist from the band FUN.
She is just so beautiful and smart… and talented 🥹❤
React to All to well 10 minute movie if you want to see him cry and hear a amazing song!
I’ll put it on our list!
This is about her not being allowed to buy back all her old music basically her blood sweat and tears of 10 or more years so she can own it and how it was sold to someone else and to someone she hated. ‘my stolen lullabies’ She called out all parties involved.
And then there is Marjorie, written in honor of her grandmother
Love this! This song is actually how her masters were sold out form under her
Just subbed because I like how genuine you guys are 💜
Taylor Swift's lyrics are deeper than most people think. You have to go deeper to understand.
And that is Jack Antonoff who is an AMAZING producer and musician in his own right. The Bleachers, lead singer of FUN, and Steel Train. He is responsible for some of the best albums out there
If no one has said it yet, you HAVE to do EXILE ft Bon Iver
yall should 100% listen to the rest of folklore and evermore ! theyre sister albums :) i feel like yall would really like champagne problems
she performed this at the eras tour! the performance is so moving and it just made me love this song more. def recommend watching the eras tour version
Can't wait for you to react to the long pond version of Exile
i loved this reaction!
You know Miss Taylor cursed the men that inspired this song. This song is a powerful spell.
Ok now I need y’all to react to her other slow songs like ‘Tolerate it’ and ‘This is me trying’
Taylor is an amazing lyricist without a doubt up there with the best
Great stuff...thanks for sharing! :)
And this is why I LOVE Taylor Swift...her ability to connect with her audience, no matter who is listening...is unmatched. And THIS is why I love watching these reaction videos! Especially...and please don't take this the wrong way, but...reactions from "stereotypical" guys who have been taught, because of stupid societal notions, to repress their emotions. I wish all guys would listen to Taylor Swift. So many of her songs are so deep, without being overly-done, and so relatable that you can't help but to FEEL them. I think men need a way to get in touch with those emotions that they haven't been allowed to feel. I mean, when one of you (sorry, I didn't catch your names) said that you were glad the other stopped the video to make a penis joke because you were getting teary eyed, that just was a perfect example of how men have been made to feel that they can't express emotion.
I REALLY appreciate you letting yourselves be vulnerable and emotional! Hope you'll share more of these reactions. And she has so many that are NOT so gut-wrenching, but just thought-provoking and even some that are just fun and still contain lyrics that are so clever that you have to appreciate her wit. Hope you'll take the journey and explore some more of her music. There is A LOT to hear!
😂 I love everything you 3 said. And I see everyone else already told you it's about her original record label that sold her songs. Like she said "stolen lullabies" here. Also it's not "shoes" but "jewels". And yes! I was so happy you found the name of Safe & Sound because I was yelling at my screen giving you the answer lol
Two of my favorites from her that I think you should listen to is tolerate it and right where you left me. I could listen to these all day
tava com saudadeee
Since you liked this song, I highly recommend Exile. It’s a proper break up song and a duet with Justin Vernon. Men especially seem to respond emotionally to that one. Also, This is Me Trying is really great. It’s about addiction and mental health
I second this
i loved this reaction! i would also recommend that you when you guys watch a long pond sessions performance that you watch the intro that goes along with it. taylor has a conversation with the producers of each track to help contextualize the song for you before hearing it.
guys I love your reactions!!! I would love it if you could react to "ready for it" the music video. And it is the first track of one of her best albums "reputation". Taylor was under a lot of criticism in recent years and this album was her return to the industry with a new concept. ❤❤
Loved the teaction!!!!!!!! All too well nest pls
LOVE THIS CHANNEL.
Thank you ❤️
This is about her label. But pls react to All too well 10 min version for the real sad emotional breakup song.
Please react to Maroon by Taylor Swift ❤
You guys are great to listen to. Please listen to You're Losing Me. A bit of a tear jerker...
❤ if you want him to cry go watch the music video for Ronan (Taylor's Version)
I’m rewatching this because it was before you had bad experiences with some crazy awful Taylor fans. I wish we could go back to where it brought you (mostly) joy. Sorry, Jake! We love all 3 of you. Such a beautiful song. Happy belated Father’s Day, Jake and Evan.
