awesome117unscI agree that it was ahead of its time and very mesmerising . However, sorry to be such a pedant, but it's not a 'song' it's a track or a 'piece' -no lyrics you see. You are definitely not alone in doing this though -thousands of people on social media and BoobTube do it all the time. Have you ever checked out the equally ground-breaking 'Phaedra' by Tangerine Dream, from the following year, 1974 I think - Maybe start about 90 seconds into it. .czcams.com/video/7ndOHPxYGQM/video.html
This footage was specially produced for The Dark Side of The Moon tour in 1973. It was projected onto a giant circular screen above the band. This is just a small part of the entire film which ran pretty much through the entire set.
lightpulse Actually, this film was made in the 80s for the band's Delicate Sound of Thunder tour then re-used in the 90s for Pulse. The main character is also featured in Signs of Life, Learning to Fly, High Hopes and on the album cover of A Momentary Lapse of Reason. The reel footage from the 70s has different kinds for the UK, North American and French tours. Fortunately you can find them here on CZcams.
I have listened to this album many times on copius amounts of acid and I can tell that listening to this track in a pitch black room is seriously intense. Def my fav album to trip too. Im in the middle of trying to recreate this track using a Roland JDXI. I will link a video when finished if anyone is interested. Peace out.
Watching this video and listening to the song gives me the chills. It also gives me butterflies in my stomach. The video director and Roger Waters both did an amazing job.
I think it was 88 at the London Arena, saw Gilmours Floyd do this classic number with the same footage. Just incredible... I had seen Genesis the previous year.. A good band but nowhere near as good as this. We were damn lucky to witness those shows. 😊😊😊
song that used to play when the away team was announced at the United Center before the announcement of the Chicago Bulls' line up...good old NBA times!
I totally remember that!! I'm in Tennessee now but Chicago will always be home. Also, the Bulls would come out to Alan Parsons Project, Sirius>Eye In The Sky. Good times, good times...
Those 90s bulls teams were so dominant and incredible, that even the starting lineup for the road team was more memorable than most modern teams own starting intros lmfao
This video seems a man in Rehad and under the influence of some withdrawal drugs....HELLUCINATING....!!!!!! It's SO REALISTIC... you can FEELS EVERYTHING....!!!!! GREAT MUSIC... It's kinda creepy BUT PERFECT FOR THIS VIDEO. 🔥👍
when i was very young and heard this song my own version of a music video for this would play in my head. it was way darker and more grim and involved a diamond burglary with close get away at the end.
Agreed, I remember being about 5 years old and running up the stairs crying when this came on lol, scared the shit out of me as well. Glad to finally get back to it 20 yrs later and face it!
Yes oh my goodness, i’m 22 now but when I was 3 my dad put the Pulse video on and from then on I had the weirdest nightmares as a child because of this, so glad it’s not just me! But I think the video is supposed to creep you out :,)
The starting lineups, first for the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers. At one forward, 6'10 from Clemson, Larry Nance. The other forward, 6'6 from UCLA, Mike Sanders. At center, 7'0 from North Carolina, Brad Daugherty. At one guard, 6'6 from Washington State, Craig Ehlo. At the other guard, 6'0 from Georgia Tech, Mark Price. The Cleveland Cavaliers are coached by Lenny Wilkens.
I love it!!! Are you going to be touring in the U.S. next year? I missed your last one because my back is broken. I love your last album! Best wishes to you and your family!
The brilliance of Floyd and the engineering genius of Alan Parsons. Fabulous!! So be honest- how many of you got stoned and put the black light on back in the day while first listening to Dark side??? Oh, the memories!

The use of this song in Black Phone was a stroke of Genius.
It was very well utilized! I agree.
Agreed the amount of tension I felt in the scene this song was used in really elevated the experience.
Yes, I had chills
Am watching it now, which scene ?
@@cosmic4795 it’s in the climax of the film. You’ll know it when you see it.
To be honest, this song was way ahead of its time. Pretty futuristic sounds.👍
Absolutely agreed

Eyes11 send me link please. I can't found it
Done in 1987 for Momentary Lapse of Reason tour.
Eyes11 Thanks for clarifying that! They didn’t wear mullets like that in 1974, 1987 yes
The 1973 one is different
To be honest...this is creepy as shit. But I love it.
This reminds me the nightmarish dreams when I got a flu and had fewer.
And of night terrors aged almost four. Dreamt that I floated down the stairs in the dark.
I was in the hospital today. Being wheeled down the corridors felt just like this. They even played Dark Side during my procedure.
I don't think enough credit is ever given to Richard Wright who has given us A LOT of the trademark Pink Floyd sound.
Yes, he deserves a lot of credit on Darkside however, this synthesizer part was all Gilmour and Waters

Doesn’t that bloke look a bit like Roger Waters?
Wow man. Im on lsd and watch tjis
Good trip 😂
Back then they used shock treatments also . I thought LSD lol
The Black Phone, thanks for this
This song always stresses me out, and time always depresses me deeply bc the lyrics are too real. They are masterpieces tho.
And now, the starting lineups for tonight’s game, first for the visitors, the New York Knicks
Go Bulls!

I always make a joking reference to this music video when I'm at the hospital, like if I'm about to go under anesthesia
Good music is like transcendental flight… It should be a moving experience in that way…☮🔥
ITS LIKE AN ASTRAL SOUL PROJECTION :)
would everyone agree this piece is one of the ancestors of techno?
No
I still say, the best !!
It is like the ending scene of 2001: The Space Odessy but on LSD.
I thought The Space Odyssey was already the LSD version

Thanks to Floyd, there’s techno.
Plenty of electronic artists prior to them, this is great but it was more popularizing the form.

This is basically proto techno, change my mind.

The first time I heard this song I was driving late at night on a bridge and thought my radio was getting messed up
