These signals were installed in the late 1980's ... a few years after the railroad reactivated in 1986. Between 1986-early 1989 there were simply crossing flashers at this location. Notice the "stop here" is also illuminated at the right lower signal location. And going way to 1971 and earlier ... there was a wig wag signal at this location.
Thanks for the history! These signals defiantly look like 1980-1990's installs. I remember seeing pics of the old wig wags from when it was still operational and after this section was abounded (being re-built). I think THAT wig-wag is at Whippany Railway Museum now, fully restored!
I can't remember the last time I saw strobe lights nice to see them again 😊
Rare to find these days
Nice this crossing is a classic!
Yes it is, still going strong too
This is another amazing video!
Im so glad you enjoyed it!
Great video and crossing! Love the 8 inch strobe lights there!
Thanks! Same here, harder to find these on any line
They fix the bell nice to hear it ring again
Did the bell die at one point?
Same, i was surprised they didn't go with another bell type and stayed Safetran
Yea, the one on the closet cantilever died when i was here last
@FreedomtowerStudios The way it rings now, sounds like it was just repaired.
I'm amazed these are still here all these years later. Nonstandard stuff like this usually vanishes.
Yea me too, seeing how the Q has been upgrading all their gate-less crossings over the last few years
Do you have a video of the crossing from the other side? All the videos I seen of this crossing have been in this same spot.
I personally don't, im sure you can find one. its not easy though, there is little to no room to stand and that approach is more dangerous to film from then this side
@FreedomtowerStudios Maybe you could of stood in the trees and filmed it.
@@sandiegotrafficlightstrain354 There is also a bridge and river where i would like to stand
Those arent strobe lights, there the flashing LED lights you see on vehicles.
They are, A buddy of mine is a signal maintainer for this railroad and i asked him if they were strobes, and he confirmed they are. Its a special LED strobe insert that was produced for these type of light units.
