Perfection is not attainable, but excellence certainly is, and the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds exemplify the best this country has to offer. I never fail to be inspired watching one of their performances.
how can you be excellent if you are not perfect? The Blue Angels never admit they attain Excellence... they only say they "strive" for it. Quote: "We will never be excellent, but it sure is fun trying to get there" John Folly, Former Blue Angel solo pilot 1992.
@@ILSRWY4 I guess we're talking semantics here. I differentiate between perfection and excellence. Getting a 100% on a quiz is perfection. Getting a 98% is excellence. I was not familiar with Folly's comment, and his opinion certainly outweighs mine, but every performance I've seen I'd give a grade of excellent. Thanks for pointing out his perspective.
Congratulation Commander Armatas and Thank You for your service to our country. I'm former USAF and even though I'm partial to the Thunderbirds, I really enjoy the United States Navy Blue Angels'. You guys are awesome!
I watched the ceremony when he took his new position. Congratulations. Great to see and hear you in a more relaxed atmosphere as Flight Leader for the Blue Angels. Looking forward to seeing the new Blue Angel videos. I haven't made a show in a long time so this is a treat to experience the Blue Angels on video. Blessings to you and the rest of the Angels and your families. 💪❤️🤍💙✌️❤️🤍💙👍
GREAT interview!!! TOTALLY impressed with the TOP NOTCH people that's chosen for the Blue Angels. Incredibly intelligent and skilled. Loved the movie! HAND SALUTE!🫡🇺🇲 GO NAVY! and MARINES!
I knew Alex at Kent School, where he did a PostGrad year pre-Annapolis (97-98). We lived down the hall from eachother. The call sign makes total sense. He was just an amazing guy then, as he clearly is now. We called him 'Honest Al', which is somewhat consistent with Scribe...But it was always a compliment, as he was just such a cool, great dude, and you had to respect his drive and 'friendly version of competitiveness', which was unique. He used to joke about maybe one day getting a call sign down the road like "Too Tall", given his height. Scribe also great for him. So pumped, couldn't have picked a better and more deserving guy.
I watched your change of command ceremony. After reading about you, it looks like a fine choice to make you the new boss. Congratulations to you and your family.
Congratulations Commander Alex for your appointment as leader of the prestigious Blue Angels team!! Only the best is required for the world's best air force display team and you are a leader of the best!!!!!
Boss Armatas also gets the privilege of being the CO of the team that ushers in the teams first female demo pilot. Just might take the trip up to Annapolis in May to watch the show.
Awesome Ryan. Quit playing and come out to El Centro. The boss will take care of you. 3rd week of February has the thunderbirds there. It's as amazing as amazing gets.
Congrats Cmdr Armatas! Was at the Oceana Air Show in VA Beach this past September after a two year hiatus due to Covid, but it was great to see the blues back in action and the commitment to excellence in aviation.
Well, now I know who will be flying over my house in Pensacola, Florida. Served on the USS Lexington and USS Forrestal. So take care and have a great season.
You guys are totally awesome and amazing so perfect and your performance Is totally amazing and beautiful I’m overwhelmed every time I see the men a woman there dangerous flights . They never fail to make us so proud of you our U.S. Blue Angels totally the best of the best . May God always protect , bless you all and keep everyone safe all.❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good job Skipper. My first experience with the Blues was my middle brother took me to the air show at the former NAS Brunswick, ME early 80’s. Right before I got out of the Marine Corps was them borrowing our hangar space at MCAS Beaufort, SC for another air show. Last time I saw them in action was 2016….about two months before the fatal crash in Smyrna, TN involving USMC Captain Jeff Kuss!
To always remember how dangerous Blue Angel flying is, the picture to the left of Boss’s head is all the Blue Angel pilots that have died in mishaps. They practice so much it looks easy but never is.
I was a student Naval Aviator in the 60s. As flight students we got to watch the Blues fly many times throughout the year. At the time they were flying the F-11 which just might have been the best jet they ever flew. Then came the F-4 and what a beast it was! Then came the A-4 and it was a beauty in the diamond and finally the F-18 which they are flying today. I had a good friend who became a Blue and he loved it. Exciting time in my life.

Love the blues. I am very disappointed there will be no shows in mass nh or ri or even maine in 2023. Probably going to have to go to NY to see them.
Looking forward to ft Lauderdale air show in 2023.
Flying legends.

The Blue Angels were flying the F-11 the first time I saw them perform in 1965, I was 9 years old.

Very impressive to make it to that level in the Navy without being a drinker! Well done interview by both participants.
SALUTE!💙💖
