I’m an American and I’m a HUGE Stompin’ Tom fan! Who would have ever imagined that it would have been Canada that got the luck of the draw when it came to having one of the world’s greatest singer-songwriters? Words seriously cannot express how much I love this fella’s music. It saddens me that Tom isn’t with us anymore, but after having been introduced to his wonderful music, and knowing how humble the man was, I’m certain he’d not take an ounce of the due credit that was his; instead, he would have given it all to his beloved homeland and to the Canadian people who made him possible in the first place. As far as I’m concerned, Stompin’ Tom is right up there with all the greats like Hank, Cash, Willie, and Woody. No question. And to that I say, thank you, Canada, for giving the world this fantastic gem. He now belongs to the ages for his music to live on. Thanks for sharing it with us. He made us all fall in love with his dear Canadian homeland.
@@bellysize I am a Canadian too - I love Stopin Tom! I saw him in Ottawa for his last tour. He was a very special man and loved to Hitchhike across the Canada!

Description says closing ceremonies at the Gardens. Tom's memory means more to us canucks than bricks and mortar. The Gardens still remain on Carleton but Tom is in us.
Saw stomping Tom when I was 8 years old playing at the Yorkville mall Got an autographed record of bud the spud My dad & myself loved his music A true Canadian 👍
I read an interview with Mr Connors about this night. Apparently he hung out in the Gardens bar and got a little bit loaded before coming out, that's how stressed out he was.
I remember doing a project on him for school then a few days later I had to change then date cuz he passed away I loved going to leaf games hearing that song
They also should've gotten the Tragically Hip or just Gord Downie even know they were the Tragically Hip was the first ever concert at the ACC and Tragically Hip was there a week later.
This afternoon I listened to Vish Khanna and Jon Dore praise Gord Downie. Tonight, sitting around, I figured out the riff to Workin' Man. Then, Corner Gas turns me onto this. I need a poutine and a Labatt. How do I apply for Canadian citizenship?
If every time you pushed the button on a NHL merchandise push for hockey song stuffed animal were kept track of it would be the most played clip of all time.

@@rgibbs4652 actually, “the Canadiens win” is the original lyric. And they did beat the leafs in the playoffs this year ..so there’s that
Is it just me or does he seen half in the bag the song is a lot slower and a little slurry
