This video came out exactly when I needed it. You, good sir, are a lifesaver.
Bro your videos are incredible. You break it down and present it in the most digestible and easy to understand way possible (for an old dude such as myself). I'm actually super bummed I didn't find your channel sooner!
Ha! As an old dude myself, I speak the old dude language
That was for sure the best and most straightforward explanation on frame rates and you work with them in DV. Thanks for the vid!! I just subbed!
Glad it was helpful! Welcome aboard!
Daniel, thanks, this helps a lot. Like many photo concepts, slowmo seems backwards in that slowmo comes from high FPS, not low FPS, like aperture high numbers let in less light, etc, etc. Really appreciate your teaching approach on every topic.
Yes, exactly
Thanks for the tutorial on changing the speed in DaVinci. I now know a better way to speed up/slow down my footage.
Bruhh..this guy explains things so easily that a person like me trying to learn editing but nothing aware of that even gets everythingg..That's AMAZINGG..i want to see beginner tutorial davinci resoolve..i hope you drop itt..:):)
Plenty on my channel! Start here--> czcams.com/video/vMCq6Fd-Zas/video.htmlsi=WIwyzqN8JKjotjX3
Bravo Daniel! You did it one more time! Thxs!
Thanks Daniel - really nice and easy to understand. Keep up the good work❤
Thanks, will do!
Thank you Mr Daniel. You help out myself and others continuously. Much appreciated sir.
My pleasure! 🙏
Great tutorial, Daniel! Very clear explanation of speed changing!
Thanks, Joseph! Hope it was helpful ☮️
I knew about the inspector bit but I did not know about right clicking on the clip, that is genius!
Your videos always help! Thanks! Keep it coming!))
Thanks, will do!
I always use a higher frame rate if I want to make a slow motion (works great to capture a lightning). Thanks for sharing the tips.
Sure does!
You have such a talent for teaching others!
Thank you very much! 😊
YOU have wonderfully helpful videos here, Daniel. Thank you! Wow. My head was going to explode from all these fast talking "help" videos that don't take the time to explain things and lose me shortly after hello. This really helps us to grow in Davinci Resolve. I don't get hives opening the program now!
Man, thank you so much!
The only way I know if what I’m trying to do actually makes sense is hearing from you.
This means the world to me ☮️❤️
@@Daniel_Batal You're most welcome, feedback is really important, I know! And I thank you for your reply! ✌❤
Very interesting! A logical and common sense approach as always, bud.
Glad you think so!
Another amazing tutorial Daniel. Thank you for this. Peace. ✌
☮️❤️
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!
My pleasure! 🙏
So good! Thank you so much
You’re welcome! ☮️
Keep teaching us more about davinci resolve. I watch your videos over and over until I understand every single detail. What I like most about your work is that you give more general information alongside the technical part. I don’t like those who dive into the technical part way too soon.
Thanks, will do!
As usual love the way you explain things in DaVinci. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Thank you, Daniel. That is a great bit of information explained in a way that even I can understand it.
Great to hear!
This is AWESOME!!!
Thanks! Hope it was helpful! ☮️
Thank you Daniel...
My pleasure!
I think I'm trying to do too much at one time, but really have to check this out. Thanks for these tips.
Let me know if that helped at all
@@Daniel_Batal Definitely helped. Not being a photographer. I do have to watch the video many times to understand the different adjustments on the color wheels.
I keep it as a reference as I'm working on a video. Thanks.
As always Daniel, great content and presentation. Thank you for sharing this
Glad you enjoyed it! Shout out anything you think I should cover in an upcoming video ☮️
Great episode!
Thanks! 🙏
Wow amazing video information Daniel
👊😎☮️
Daniel my idol is spot on!
☮️❤️
Thanks for the explanation! Just starting off my DaVinci Journey
Have fun! That’s the most important thing
Hey Daniel! I would suggest that it can also be valuable to teach people about filming at the correct shutter speed/shutter angles before even starting work on the edit. The reason why you should always aim to keep your shutter angle at 180 degrees or 1/48 if you're filming at 24fps (or 1/60 if filming at 30fps etc.) is so that you can achieve a natural amount of cinematic motion blur. If you set the shutter angle too small, it can make the video look too crisp and choppy (eg. 90 degrees = 1/96 if you're filming at 24fps which is wrong) and it can be headache inducing the smaller that shutter angle becomes.
The part where it can really catch you out is when you're filming in slow motion. If filming at 120fps you don't want your shutter to be at 1/48 even if your final project deliverable is at 24fps. You will need to film at 1/240 or in other words a 180 degree shutter so that the slow motion footage doesn't have too much or too little blur when retiming to 24fps.
A good rule of thumb is to multiply the framerate by 2x and use that as the shutter speed, like so: 1/(framerate x 2). There are certain exceptions to this rule especially when going with certain aesthetic looks, but that is for more advanced cases and would also include techniques such as variable speed ramping or eliminating light strobing caused by powerline frequencies.
Seems like you just did it for me! 😜
Thanks for the tutorial ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You’re welcome 😊
I made a video a couple years back and I was tossing a delivery package. I didn't understand why the slow mo just didn't look right.
tHanks for the video!
Right on 👍
Hey Daniel 👋
I learned Filmora by watching your videos, after that I created my own channel... I just completed 80k subscribers today, and will cross 100k very soon :)
I am glad that you have now left Filmora and switched to DaVinci, Because DaVinci is a much more advanced software... Right now me and my friend edit videos on Premiere Pro & After Effects, but I am also learning DaVinci, because I think it will be very helpful in my motion graphics work ❤
Congrats on that 80k!
100k on the way!! ☮️❤️
Hey Daniel, hope all is well.
I was once a fan of Filmora and you were a reason for that. You were a rock star when it came to the tutorials.
I've watched some of the history regarding that and wondering if you have gone to a different screen recorder or are you still using Filmora.
I'm in the market of a screen recorder and thought I'd get your opinion. Thank you!
I’ve been using Bandicam.
@@Daniel_Batal Thank you for answering. I'll check it out.
you are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !
grazie ;)
Wow, thank you!
Thanks Daniel.
My pleasure, Craig!
I was close to calling it on DaVinci until I found your channel. I thought maybe it just wasn't possible for my to learn.
Do you ever offer one on one consulting if someone has more specific questions? Thanks.
I don’t offer consulting for software specific questions.
But I do try to answer every comment possible so feel free to drop and specific questions in the comments section of any video and I’ll do my best to respond ☮️
Amazing, do u know batal in Arabic mean a hero , you are the here of davinci resolve Danial keep going bro 👍
I do!!
My grandfather came to America from Lebanon through Ellis Island. ☮️❤️
I've really struggled with the slow motion aspect. Part of it my be that I'm using a cellphone for filming at default settings. There are several pointers in this video I will incorporate into my future edits
Let me know if they helped, John.
Always keep your project settings the same as your footage.
That will stop any unnecessary frame rate decrease
wow i remember back in the days when you posted filmora tutorials now you have moved to davinci resolve, still very good tutorial just like in the old days. But fr filmora killed off its customers
Filmora definitely hurt their brand with some questionable choices
I'm not sure what should be my PC system requirements to run Davinci Resolve just for 1080 video editing and rendering. Can you please guide me?
Sure! Use the recommended (not minimum) system requirements found here--> motionarray.com/learn/davinci-resolve/davinci-resolve-system-requirements/
Hey daniel, I've been watching your videos since filmora 😊. Your videos are great... my question coz i trust your advice. I've a Lenovo laptop intel core i7 9th gen. 16g ram, SSD inside and yet da vincie resolve isn't runnig smoothly . Is it better to upgrade my laptop? And will it be better to grab a mac or an ipad? Which one will be better?
Definitely not an iPad.
I’d look at either an M2 MacBook or a Mac mini.
Both are pretty affordable now.
Try to get the 16GB version and as much storage as your budget can afford
@@Daniel_Batal thx a lot 😊
I use wondershare filmora ... different system but learning more in how to go about editing from your tutorials than those they offer. Even with having to learn "their version of" of what you share, I'm better off for it .. Filmora sucks & I'm paying for it too lol ... your Tutorials are seriously tempting me to move over to Da Vinci! Cheers Daniel!
I rarely quote Christina Aguilera but, come on over baby!
@@Daniel_Batal hahaha ... I rarely like Christina quoted to me, happens all the time, lol ... I'm kidding ... but your doing so made me lol and for that, the next time I get an energy burst fit for dealing with new software, consider me sold!
So if i'm recording at 60FPS what's the best project settings to have a cinematic looks when speeding or slowing the footage ?
Keep it at 60fps. Changing your project frame rate settings won’t make it look more cinematic.
Only the way you film can do that
@@Daniel_Batal Ok thanks i've seen so many ways to do it...I've tried many of your tips and it helped me alot learning editing with DaVinci !
Quick question, does the frame rate matter as much if you are speeding up the footage?
The short answer is no.
Not nearly as much
Daniel, I have different clips filmed 24fps in different moments with the same camera when playing a motion picture with realtime music. When I try to bring them together In a 23.967 fps clip, it requires me to change speed from 23.25 up to 24.44fps of some of them to fit properly along with the motion picture. What may be happening?
Most of them fits ok at 24fps in the 23.967fps video because are short, but some requires extreme stretching or enlarging. It is so weird.
If you have different clips all filmed at 24 fps, why aren’t you setting your project for 24 fps…?
@@Daniel_Batal, thanks for your response. Because the film is at @ 23.967. That’s why I stick to it. In addition I have footage of other cameras at 23.967 which sits properly.
@@Daniel_Batal Basically is a 90 minutes film with footage of a real-time musical performance.
4:34 How to make the transition like this sir?
The easiest way is to use the “Push” transition.
@@Daniel_Batal Thank you sir. And I noticed that the “Push” transition was accompanied by a default sound. To remove that sound, I downloaded a free sound from the Internet and overlaid it onto the default one because I don’t know how to remove the sound with the “Push” version. Is it a good practice sir? Could you show me a better way to handle this, please?
So, it has nothing to do with the timeline settings ?
By ‘Timeline Settings’ do you mean Project Settings?
If so, it depends.
If you match your project frame rate to your footage (which I highly recommend), the projects settings won’t change anything.
Now, if you film at 60 frames per second and then change your project settings to 24 frames per second, yes. You’ll be telling the software to chop your footage into a smaller frame rate than it was filmed at and that can impact how slowing down the footage might appear upon export.
@@Daniel_Batal thanks ! So better to set the project on 60 frames if I am gonna work with some 24fps footage
This video’s title hurts my head …
Does your speed-changed video look bad?
Mine look terrible. Hope the video helps. Stay shiny ❤
Stay shiny, love that!
@@Daniel_Batal It's an old-timey phrase (revived in the TV series Firefly). xx
😂
fun fact
when i first started watching your videos backthen my pc can't handel filmora now i got pc that can handel filmora but it can't handel davinci resolve well
my luck...yeah i love my luck..-_-
I’ve always said use what works.
I still have plenty of Filmora tutorials on the channel that apply to even the new version
not sure if this is that important, but the title is a bit off. oh and anyways, love ur vids
Man, good save! Thanks!
Yes... but there are several CZcamsrs selling their videos that using optical flow, their 24fps videos look wonderful in slow motion, a true miracle, a sensational thing...
And at least for now that has never been and is not true... 24 will always be 24, 30 will always be 30, 60 will always be 60, 120 will always be 120 and so on... And miracles will always be with God!
Each one has its limits and rates for Speed Up and Slow Down...
Do these options even help more?... yes, they help but it's not the miracle that many CZcamsrs are selling out there...
But it seems that when I mention this on their channel, they don't like it very much and they get a little, let's say... offensive
The optical flow feature is great if you understand the caveat that it’s as good as what you feed it.
I hope this video helped give some more useful information than just relying on some feature to fix what may be broken ☮️❤️
@@Daniel_Batal Exactly, your video, the teaching you gave here, in my opinion, undoes, breaks the illusion that some CZcamsrs are giving to people.
I hope a lot of people watch your video, a lot of them.
Sorry Daniel name brain fog
Ha! No worries
Lets imagine FPS like it's an elastic spiral sping, the more loops it has, the longer you can stretch it. 😁➰➿
Good analogy!
