    Now that you’ve seen John Farnham with Jimmy, I would love you to check out John singing the Beatles ‘Help’ with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It’s absolutely mind blowing. You’ll see why he is known as The Voice here in Australia.😊

    Guitarist is Diesel and Jimmy’s Brother in law. They married sisters. I love how John just holds his microphone for Diesel because he doesn’t need it. There are good singers there and there is John. He is unequaled in any genre and known as the Voice for a very good reason. He did not like being a part of the Little River Band because they were nasty and John doesn’t know how to be.
    You need to watch the movie of John’s life called finding the voice to understand what he went through. It isn’t 2 years old yet but it is on CZcams. You can watch it and tell us what you think.
    John sings 13 different genre’s naturally. He had had number 1 albums in 5 consecutive decades and he is loved. To see him in concert live is amazing. Try John singing Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Or Amazing Grace with two of his backup singers. Or Burn for you written for his wife, or Please Don’t Ask Me with Olivia Newton John at the Main Event Concert. You have over 5 decades to catch up on. Thank you.

    This was a televised video of the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards before the cream of that industry and they screamed when John Farnham came on ! WHY? Because John is the G.O.A.T. of Australian music and they have much adoration for the man and his work ! He has a big, powerful, gymnastic vocal range John sings in TWENTY PLUS genres. His talent is extraordinary. His career was over six decades with many top singles and albums. Also, he is the consummate professional showman, sooo charismatic and totally in rapport with his audiences. His many concerts were sold out many times over.
    John was with the Little River Band, replacing Glenn Shorrock. He did not enjoy his time there because some of the band were jealous of him and also that his singing ability and style were clipped. He even wrote a song about it named, 'Let Me Out'. Some of the band members appreciated John and joined him in his later band.
    John is a loved legend in Aussie music. ALWAYS see and hear him LIVE where is soul shines. There are many videos on YT of him live in concert. I'm waiting for you to explore more of his marvellous talent and enjoying your channel.
    PS. Jimmy Barnes praises John as being a better singer than himself.

    Thanks for the reaction, I was one who requested the reaction.💞Here's a bit more info on John, (I actually prefer the version they did on "Hey, Hey it;s Saturday, not as much reverb)... John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" (that's what he is affectionately known as here "The Voice), he can sing anything and make it sound great. He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL 😂 if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back, He is the most down to earth loveable person, humble, funny and extremely talented. Yes, John replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. First the trailer...czcams.com/video/LocCfc5PKrE/video.html the next is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986. a John Lennon number "Help", but John F's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound)...czcams.com/video/dv54giOSRKs/video.html Anything from that "Classic Jack Live" with MSO concert is "gold". Welcome to the bunny burrow that is John Farnham, aka The Voice, aka Farnsey (John and Jimmy are affectionately known as Farnsey and Barnsey). It's hard to choose a follow-up, but I guess the logical choice would be the song that first gave John the moniker The Voice, You're the Voice with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Keeping in mind that 1967 live concert technology is a fraction of 1991 equipment and that Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham really pour on the Blue Eyed Soul, I have to say, as I always do, that the original with a seven piece horn section is still the greatest!

    Brilliant. Just for clarification it isn’t a Sam Cooke song. It was first released by Sam Moore and Dave Prater (“Sam & Dave), written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter. Also, John Farnham doesn’t have a better vocal range than Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy’s range in his prime was easily F2 to G5, (possibly even to A5) - this is 3 octaves total. John is A2 to A5, so also 3 octaves. And these ranges are based on full chest voice notes not falsetto or “screams” 😂 It’s just that John’s natural range is at the higher end while Jimmy is most comfortable at the lower end. Both are just brilliant and talented artists and we are very proud of our boys here in Oz! ❤ 🐨

      Yes, well said good Doctor. Right as always.
      I’d also like to point out (as most people reacting to this song aren’t old enough to remember) that this song came out at a time when John Farnham was still trying to lose his clean cut “Sadie” image and prove that he could do more than just sing pop.
      This was Jimmy’s hit before this duet and in this instance, Jimmy generously allowed John the lion’s share of the vocal work so John could showcase his talent. Jimmy’s role in this song was more one of support to help his friend; not because Jimmy was less capable.

    • @Saan42
      @Saan42 Před 6 měsíci +5

      @@Laraine3Errr, this song was released in 1991, well after John had lost his "Sadie" image. That happened in 1986 when Whispering Jack was released. By the time this song was recorded, he'd also released Age of Reason and Chain Reaction albums, and done numerous tours. This song is not an example of some enormous generosity from Jimmy Barnes, allowing poor John to prove himself - John had the best selling Australian album ever, as well as many huge sellout concert tours by this point. The idea that John needed Jimmy's "help" at this point in his career is laughable, tbh.
      This was an equal collaboration, that helped Jimmy just as much, if not more, than it helped John. However, looking at it like that is far from what I'd imagine either of these two were thinking at the time.

      @Laraine3 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Saan42 yes, I see your point with regarding John’s success to that date. My point is that John had not moved into Jimmy’s field of harder rock, growls, soul, etc., until this. John liked to challenge himself with new genres. Another example would be him having a crack at opera with Anthony Warlow.

  • @devi_-
    @devi_- Před 5 měsíci +1

    lol the bad boy/good boy comments were 100% accurate, both of them have such fascinating life stories. Highly recommend Jimmy's autobiographies in case anyone hasn't read them! Personally I think the echo on John's vocal is more sacrilegious than the lotto results. John has a great cover of Who's Loving You if you want to see another absolutely insane vocal in a similar genre.

    Ahh, fantastic. Glad you liked this. I've got so many things going through my head. So Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham released this song in 1991. It was on Jimmy's Soul Deep album.
    Jimmy had sung this before with his band Cold Chisel in 1982. Jimmy is the lead singer but their guitarist Ian Moss also has a stella voice. They actually share the singing duties in the band. Ian or Mossy as he is known, sings the first part of that song and Jimmy then sings. My it is goodness to a T. Here is a link czcams.com/video/eEZ__N-c02U/video.htmlsi=szxXRNQkmNf5Qn-y

    Another legend is Johnny Diesel (guitar player), he is also Jimmy's brother inlaw. Mark Denis Lizotte is an American-born Australian singer-songwriter and musician, who has released material under the name Diesel, Johnny Diesel, as leader of band Johnny Diesel & the Injectors, and as a solo performer, as well as under his birth name. Per JIMMY'S, My secondary cords or "false cords". There are groups of them around the main cords. I discovered this many years ago. I'd had a bug, and because it was such a big show and we were postponing, I had to get a doctor's certificate for insurance. This throat specialist put a camera down my throat, and had me talking and singing. And he said, "You don't use your vocal cords." Singers who scream as much as I do tend to have problems. But my body found a way of self-defence.

    *A bit on John (Australia’s former King of Pop)* - Born in the UK in 1949, came out when 10 to Melbourne Victoria, Australia. It’s the same sort of history as Olivia Newton John, who was born in the UK in 1948 and came out when 5 to Melbourne. Both worked in the industry in Melbourne in the 1960's and eventually Olivia ended up back in the UK and then the US. John became the King of Pop with the 1967 hit ‘Sadie the Cleaning Lady.’ He was in the LITTLE RIVER BAND. John had his chances to work in the US but wanted to live in Australia. Queen wanted him to replace Freddie Mercury, but he declined. www.smh.com.au/entertainment/john-farnham-asked-to-join-queen-report-20030804-gdh7j9.html
    *Jimmy Barnes (Australia’s former King of Rock)* was born April, 28 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland. His original name was 'James Dixon Swan' and his father was a featherweight boxing champion in Glasgow. In 1961/62 his family moved to Australia. After playing in a school band (he replaced Bon Scott (who joined AC/DC) as lead vocalist in the band Fraternity. Then, aged 16 and a half, he joined Cold Chisel in 1973. First they played the pubs of Adelaide, then they played the pubs of Australia and finally they got a record contract in 1976. Now, Cold Chisel are Australian history - one of the best bands Australia ever had. They split up in 1983 because they thought they weren't playing good music anymore and they didn't want to rip their fans off with another album.

    The guitarist is Johnny Diesel ( Mark Lizotte ).....probably our best ever blues singer and guitarist, although like Jimmy, he has an excellant and pure head voice..... he no longer sings pure blues that often.... mostly rock and pop now.
    As they are brothers in law, Jimmy and Diesel often perform together, and with each other.
    I recommend a video of them sitting together having a chat, before they perform one of Diesels songs impromptu.. .. Jimmy is holding the lyrics and probably sheet music in his hands as they sing......it is brilliant, but i suspect there is more than one video or maybe a longer one.
    As for John Farnham......Help and The Voice with the MSO are his 2 most popular..... i prefer his covers of AC/DC's Long Way To The Top and Led Zepplin's Black Dog... . .Black Dog is audio only.. ..was a pre concert soundcheck and vocal warm up, but a sound engineer flipped the switch and recorded it.
    Also Gethsemane from the 1990's Aussie production of Jesus Christ Superstar.... better than his early cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water ( Simon and Garfunkel ).
