I'm from japan. I'm very appreciate to you for introducing such a wonderful manga.
one of the best horror manga in Japan, but it make us to remind that Human beings are powerless before nature. Some of you might know, I recommend also 'Suehiro Maruo' series .日本の優秀な漫画家を紹介してくれてありがとう。この作者はいつもウォーリーみたいな赤と白のボーダーを着ています。丸尾末広の漫画もおすすめだよ。

Thanks man this is a brilliant overview. I love Ito and he cites Umezz as a direct influence so I really want to see what came before Ito's reign as the king horror mangaka. Really enjoyed your commentary as well in light of Hiroshima. It was the 75th anniversary this year of Hiroshima and Umezz is 84, as you said even if Umezz hasn't mentioned it must have been an influence.

I ran across your vid to see if there was any new publications on this because I've fallen back into my horror manga fixation and TRIED for YEARS to find the paper back...for one, thank you for the fantastic review on the book itself, Im picking these suckers up when I can afford it just on that alone...but also just, I cannot stress enough how on point you are about the analysis of the story and it's influence-I'd argue it's a cornerstone of Japanese Horror in Manga and Film.
It's brutal, unforgiving, and has an air of authenticity that you don't see a lot in modern horror.

Yo! Great review. Finished it today! I was surprised at how "now" the theme of children rebuilding this world as a better one, is. Relating to fridays for future and so on. The manga actually explicitly alludes to climate change and environmental pollution etc. a few times (e.g. in the dia-show of the future-humans). And I really liked the heartwarming last sentence of the narrator. Haha, just my two cents. Anyway... Cheers from munich, germany.
