That's what makes a hobby, a hobby, right? Always learning. This plant reminds me of "Ocean Grass" for lack of a better term, but that's what it's called.
I won't grow it, but I've had it. Here in Floriduh it grows like a weed, to make a long story short within two years I had a three food diameter plant. Mine was mounted on a giant tree fern plaque.
Hi Michelle, like you I gave struggled with my Maxillaria Memoria Ben Berliner (variabilis x tenufolia) I've had it since May 2020. I mounted it, then potted it, then moved it to semi-hydro, so far it's not dead, but no new roots. I think I will follow your method and spray those braided areas every day and keep my fingers crossed. Thank you for sharing and have a good week.
I have one maxillaria growing in a self watering setup and it did take off quite quickly. I grow almost every orchid in my collection in self watering but I think I was just lucky that this orchid loves it so much. It grows well for me. But to be honest they are not my favorite.... I really like the way they grow, the leaves and bulbs but when they bloom, it is almost like I miss something. I love big blooms, lots of blooms LOL... but I have one and I am happy with it, but I don't think I buy more maxillarias anytime soon. Thanks for your tips and happy growing!
Hi Michelle I just notice my new maxillaria has bloomed. I was surprised and excited and they do smell like coconut. I will be do what's in bloom for May. Have a wonderful day stay safe and happy growing : )
Yes, I bounced out of that Hemiplegic migraine much easier. Sadly though as I yep a new migraine started at watering up. A different kind that makes me have vision auras and head pain, but doesn’t weaken my left side. Thanks for noticing. How’s your day going?

We'll apparently not the right thing since she hasn't bloomed for me yet. Lol but I give them the same as all the rest of my orchids. One week will be cal/mag and fertilizer from better Griw for blooms. Another week Cal/mag and fertilizer from RepotMe and just water on the other weeks. Two plants are switched into lecca and semi hydro. One is all bark. All growing like weeds on my top shelf under the grow lights...But no flowers. They add texture and beauty but I would sure like to smell them. Thanks for visiting.
Thank you for your reply. Mine was blooming crazy before it was dry up. I had it sitting east facing window and watered weekly with 1/4 strength orchid fertilizer and sat in two inch water. I repotted about few months back and change to under grow light and east facing window. After I watched your video I repotted to leca and spay water twice a day. It is not dying but it is not growing neither. Maybe time will tell.

I'm a fan of big blooms mostly. But I enjoy the long green leaves, and at this point it's a struggle of wills. Lol
