E1 ERROR Code electric fireplace infrared heater

  • The cause of E1 ERROR Code on electric fireplace infrared heater was caused by the thermal cutoff switch. A wire could be loose on it or the part may have failed and will not reset. The part #KSD301 opens at 120C. If your heater keeps cutting off with a new part, try one rated at a slightly higher temperature, 130C.

    well. you just saved me $130 ... thanks a bunches... I have a fireplace just like yours, and love it, looks great, and heats up my camper like a champ, but, I started getting E1 error code, I almost went to Walmart to get another one, but jumped on CZcams just in case, and good thing I did... my problem was a filter, I've been using this thing for 3 years now, and never cleaned the filter, I took the filter off and cleaned it, and the fireplace works like a champ again ... thanks a lot...thumbs up definitely :)

      I installed one in need my 5th wheel 3 yrs ago and woke up this morning freezing my ass off because of a error code so where is the filter located? I'm guessing inside the back of it?

    @dirtyd3402 Před 4 měsíci

    Usually this can be fixed by just unplugging and leaving it sit for a few minutes. If you have to remove the wire it is due to corrosion most likely causing a bad connection.
    In my case after a couple of errors and a couple of lubes of the fan my fan stopped turning which caused the error. This error is an overheating error which you should not ignore.
    If it becomes annoying resetting or you just want to Amazon has numerous heaters and fans you can buy for 40 or under.

    I have three cats, and the elements in the circuitboard were full of cat hair. I guess it just built up over the last couple years and since we have it against the wall we never pull it out and vacuum behind it.
    I unplugged it, and vacuumed the inside of it, turned it back on and it’s working great.

    I have the E1 error code also but i am curious about the filter cleaning. You stated that the manufacturer said clean the filter but in your video you unplug the wire to the circuit card and apparently that fix the error code. But what about cleaning the filter, do you still need to clean the filter or where is it located since you didn't show that in your video?

    To reset the E-1 error code, you just need to unplug the unit at the wall. This will reset the unit! At least temporarily! How does removing the thermal circuit breaker wire and replacing it solve the issue of the E-1 code coming on in the first place?

    • @tommixwilkes2640
      @tommixwilkes2640  Před 6 lety +5

      Because it did not have a good connection. Removing and replacing wipes and cleans for a better connection. Best to scrape it with a pen knife or sandpaper before sticking the wire back on.

    So just the old American method of unplugging it and plugging it back still works just inside the unit? My heater is a "life corps product " little 1500wat portable heater. It has this error but backwards and works with it want to. Guess when it stops working completely ill give this a try. Thanks for the vid.

    So go in and find the two red wires that connect to your thermostat. Usually they're going to be in a high point in the heater which mine were.
    What Willy is saying is to do is unplug them and plug them back in? I guess their ultra sensitive wires and over time they lose connection.
    I tried that. So far so good. Last resort would be to get a new thermostat and like he says in the comments below, make sure you get the right one. It's a $5 part in about a 9 minute job to install it

      It could be that the wire connection is not making a good connection. All i did was put the wires off and stick them back on, thus cleaning the connections. You can test the switch by checking continuity with an ohmmeter. It should show continuity at normal temperature, (normally closed). It should show a open connection if the switch is heated with a soldering iron or other heat source.
      If you do need the part, it can be found on eBay. Search for KSD301.

      $3.29 from China if you can wait 3 weeks or $5.99 from USA if you want it quicker. Be sure to get one at the correct opening temperature. 120C or 130C.

    So, if I'm gettin' this right, all you did was unplug the two breaker wires and then plugged 'em back in and that essentially "re-booted" the heater clearing the E1 Fault?.. The wires didn't work loose, or come unplugged on their own or anything like that, you just unplugged and then plugged 'em back in?..
    Two winters ago I had an E1 fault and I tried everything from cleanin' the filter, to blowin' everything out with canned air, to going over all the wiring looking for scorched or burnt connections and I ended up finally cutting the cord and throwing it out.. Fast forward to last night and I've got another E1 on the exact same brand/model (Lifesmart) infrared heater, so I'm gonna have to try this little breaker re-boot trick and hopefully save myself $130-$150 this time around!.. 🤔😁😎

    What if I can't get the wire to come off the thermostat. It literally will not pull off , so even if I got a new one I don't think I could pull the wires off to replace it ..... uhhhhhhhh!!!

    • @tommixwilkes2640
      @tommixwilkes2640  Před 6 lety +1

      Try a lubricant on the connection, then wiggle it with needle nose pliers. If that fails you could cut the wire and put a new terminal on it. Also you may be able to find a used wire with a good terminal from an old appliance and connect it to the cut wire with a wire nut. Many times the switch is still good but the terminals do not have a good connection.

    I bought the part and still doesn't work. I really don't understand. Turns on for about. 5-10 mins then shuts off. After E1 error if I let it sit , I can turn back on for 5-10 mins again then shuts off.

    • @tommixwilkes2640
      @tommixwilkes2640  Před 6 lety +1

      I would test by temporarily pulling off the wires and connecting them together with a wire clip. If it stays on then the part is at fault. Did you get one rated at 130C? It is just a switch that opens at the rated temperature.
      If you get an error with the wires connected together then there is probably a fault in the circuit board.

    • @rickeykeeton4770
      @rickeykeeton4770 Před 6 lety

      Is that the only temp control on it?
      Makes me think of a " nonresettable " thermal cut off on a dryer. That being said, a dryer has multible thermostats which have lower temp ratings. That is why I ask if it only has that one.

      E1 is low air flow code. Clogged air filter or faulty blower. Mine ran just fine making a squealing noise for a long time, then started owing E1 code after 15 minutes. Took it apart and found all the oil from the bearing on the sheet metal below it. Ordering a new blower assembly.
