Metroid Prime 4: Everything we NEED to see

The side missions can be addressed like secret areas in Darksouls, rumors in the data logs, audio and maybe video cameras, but you are not been force to go there, rather, by paying attention, you would start to piece together the existence of small areas that can have better upgrades (like a faster recharge, an addition of a second dash while dodging or improve speed in proyectiles) things that reward the player while not breaking the main campaign, nor make it feel pointless to go the extra step to just get other missile expansion
I definitely agree with the title thing; my assumption is that 4 was just the working title, and they'll be giving it a Metroid Prime: [something] style name in the vein of Echoes and Corruption, when they re-reveal it.
As far as world layout, yeah, hoping they stick with a single planet, let us get to know it more intimately like with Tallon IV and Aether. But I would like to see them use the gunship as a fast travel option for the lategame, especially if the map is gonna be much, much bigger as we hope. Having the ability to find and open up landing pads in the far corners of the world like with Corruption, (ideally not too many, though; one per major region/biome should be the upper limit) could be a nice way to get around the more tedious aspects of backtracking while keeping the good parts relevant; you don't have to trek all the way back from one end to the other, but still need to do the legwork once you're in the general area.
It's interesting that you bring up sidequests; apparently Corruption was at one point going to have a bounty hunting board mechanic where Samus could track down certain targets, but it got scrapped early on for not playing well with where the rest of the game's design and story was going, and I think that was for the best. But depending on what they wind up doing with Prime 4, this could be a good time to try something like that again. I definitely agree that if they do this they should go for quality over quantity, but it could be a good way to like, tell some interesting sidestories and expand on Samus's more mundane activities between the major missions featured in the games thus far.

It's just a working title yes. Metroid Prime is probably seen as a sub series now, so it just needs a subtitle. Sure they could just go for MP4, but I agree that Metroid Prime [subtitle] makes the most sense. I'm just waiting for them to release Echoes, I hope they shadow drop that one as well. It's a fun surprise.
Metroid prime 4 HAS to run at 60 fps on switch assuming the game is a cross gen release on Switch and next gen BECAUSE that was the standard for the original Metroid Prime trilogy.
I think Prime should stay in the name but drop the numbers. Yes, Prime is the boss of MP1 but I believe when most people think of Prime they think about the fact that it’s a 1st person game.
I agree there should be some way of customizing Samus. Obviously there are uograde type mods like you see in Dead Space or Doom but I think something akin to the Charm system in Hollow Knight. Each charm has a special effect and slot cost. They could do something like that.
Okay what I would like to see is to explore an entire planet. While still having the ability to planet hop. The lock on should stay on so I makes targeting enemies easier. Would love to have more grapple beam combat or add a counter attack. Then have a base in space where she is just floating around the planet in her ship and then when she has unlocked a new area she can fly to it just like she did in Prime 3. I would love to see some galactic dog fighting like we have to save a GFS ship that is being attacked by space pirate ships. And then have to take over an escort mission that could seamlessly merge with the mission. Maybe some clues as to their being other Chozo tribes as so far we have only seen 2 the Thoha and the Mawkin tribe. As I want to know maybe their being like 5 original tribes with Thoha and Mawkin be one of the two. Scans would help identify the enemy weakness jus like if you scan the parasite queen your lock on will aim right at is mouth which is its weak point. Along with the lore and other secrets.

I hope they explain how the hell did the metroid prime wound up in the phazon core. Wishful thinking but that always bothered me and keeping me from consider it the perfect game

That game is a *FULL ON* reboot, retconning out the events of EVERY game! I'm honestly not sure why they kept the "4" in the title.
