Saumarez Homestead Armidale - a National Trust of Australia (NSW) property

Saumarez Homestead is a stunning rural property open to visitors to tour through the historic homestead, stunning out-buildings, gardens and grounds. It is a perfect setting for events or just a weekend tour with lunch or morning tea on weekends and most public holidays from 1st September to 15th June. Gardens and Grounds open seven days per week all year round.

Had the pleasure of visiting back in 89 in my first year of Teacher's College. A truly beautiful home. It still baffles me how the sister's slept on the verandah during winter and, according to the guide, with only one blanket, often cracking ice off it when they got up in the morning.

It’s an amazing story and the skills they had back then are a testimony to the integrity and pride in their work 🫶 unlike today , where the houses are boxes and look more like offices than warm homes .i hate new homes designs and the new cars full of annoying sounds .
