“Dean From Hell” was Dimes Guitar name , and he put his kiss sticker on it. It was never the “Washburn from Hell”. Dime won a Dean from his skills , Bought Deans , Dimes dad bought him a Dean . Dean Zelinsky was a judge at dimes guitar contest when Dime was only a 15 yr old kid. Dean and Dime built the legacy together. That’s the truth. Dean can do whatever they want . Bless their balls.
The "ML" was a standard Dean model before Dime made them legendary. It's not like Dime designed it. He just played it. They should be free to continue selling the same design. Why should fans not be able to buy one?
Solar comes out with an ML-like clone with similar non-trademarked V headstock?
More guitars are always good, there's a lot of folks that will have access to the ML now.

Correct. Afaik Michael Schenker also played them at one point in time, to me a bigger name as Dime.
the problem is not the shape, it's the color/dessigns that rip off of Dime's customs.....Noboby would have a promblem with classic or new colors that are not Dime rip offs in my opinion

Gibson sued everyone, Dean is deliberately riding the coattails of one mans legacy whose estate has asked them to please stop. Very different, it's like comparing Disney to Van Gogh
@@petyralorikk6925 Gibson sued Dean for copying their guitars (literal copies, not "inspired by"), what is wrong with suing someone stealing your works? Talking about paintings, would it be ok if I copy Banksy's art and sell it as mine? Can I copy and sell your music? Gibson had the right to do so! While I find Dean's ad very disrespectful, this time they are selling a shape created by themselves together with Dime (I guess).
@@DanieleGiannattasio It isn't simply business, it's a direct disrespect of a dead man who single-handedly basically lead Dean's sales for the past few decades, which allowed the company to even compete in meaningful way. And the matter isn't about Dean selling what IS technically their shape, it's just the blatant childish disrespect of a hero who died probably playing a Dean as the bullets entered his head. It's just kinda disgusting, the spirit of the statement as a whole.

@@petyralorikk6925 They are riding on the coat tails of one mans legacy by releasing 2 guitars in shapes they own, not him, with paint jobs that are like 2 of his well known guitars, one of which is missing the actual signature graphic anyways and without it the guitar looks cheap? Thats it? I mean its lame, but its also not enough to be saying they are riding on the coat tails of one mans legacy in my opinion. The whole Zero F*cks Given campaign is more a general response to all the lawsuits they've faced and basically attempts to shut them down, and I'd say more so directed at Gibson

I disagree, Ola. It’s a joint legacy. Dean guitars existed before Dimebag. MLs existed before Dime. While I’m an original Dime advocate, Dime had Washburn essentially build ML shapes and Dean didn’t sue him. You’re essentially building ML shapes. I don’t see it as disrespectful at all. I see it as just internet stupidity to call it disrespectful in the first place. Unless Dime’s name is on them, they are allowed to build the guitar that Dime ADOPTED. He did not design or build them. He modified them somewhat, that’s it. With stickers and markers.
People don’t own things because they come to have a joint association with them.
It's been 20 years, move on and let Dean sell their ML guitar that existed long before Dimebag ever touched one. Diehard fans are so fucking weird.

@@EXSENTRIX Dean Zelinsky sold Dean Guitars in 1997, after Dimebag went to Washburn in 1994, and got his first Washburn signature model in 1995. So yeah, Dime took the ML design to Washburn.
I like Dean guitars - I've had several. But I never liked the ML body.

Maybe the slogan is disrespectful, because of the context, not the content. But why them recycling the guitars shape and color patterns is a problem? Are they copyrighted? Sue them. Or don't, don't be a gibson. Are they not? Move on. Did the model name 6505 have a resemblance with the previous 5150? Oh well.

honestly glad dean took that stance, if dime was still here today he wouldn't give a fuck that they did it, so why should they? all this dancing around peoples feelings gets old quick.
