Thus we're presented with the real vision of the magical land where dreams come true. The amount of detail and passion Mitton put into his vision is amazing, it's almost on par with Wilbert own's dedication to the RWS map, no one could ever match his gift as a children's TV director. No doubt this'll become the official holy grail map everyone will default to now to create their future trainz content and fan-episodes. You've outdone yourself again Tug, easily the best Sodor Explained yet. 10/10 Stars!. ⭐

Percy's Promise was originally a Season 2 episode until they cancelled it, so I'm guessing they intended for Percy to depart from the seaside station in Thomas and Trevor, except they didn't have a set for that in Season 3, forcing them to substitute it with Tidmouth Halt instead. We don't have the Season 2 map, so it's possible and probably likely that it was drawn up when the episodes were still being planned, explaining why the floodlands are on a track going from the Thomas and Trevor station and not Tidmouth Halt.
The second branch to Lower Suddery is a leftover from the Season 1 map where it was the only branch to Lower Suddery, but when they made Season 2 they added the proper branch going from Wellsworth that we all know and love. Why they didn't just retcon the whole line to go from Wellsworth and still left the old branch on the map is something we'll never know, but oh well. Speaking of Lower Suddery; there's a code for HX.8 on one of the Season 1 maps, which I suspect might be meant to be the set for Percy's lonely siding, which if it is would place it just north of Lower Suddery, so I'd put it in that small space between where the two forks of the Brendam Branch converge and Lower Suddery, allowing Percy to access it from the Season 1 tracks but still putting it where HX.8 is assuming that square on the Season 1 map referred to that set.

Rest In Peace David Mitton. Also, I also have my own head canons for the Island of Sodor, including stuff that is up on the Northern Coast of Sodor to fit my OC’s and their stuff.
In my canon, with my OC’s, Their is a 3rd narrow gauge railway, other then the Mid-Sodor and Skarloey railway’s. This 3rd narrow gauge railway is called the North Sodor Railway, or NSR for short. Their is a bustling harbor town at the very north edge of Sodor called Ronans Gate. Their is standard gauge lines that run up past harwick up to Ronans Gate. Their is also a smaller branch that breaks off from the main branch at Ronans Gate called the Apple Dale line that runs down from Ronans Gate to the small Orchard Village of Apple Dale and then runs down till the double lane track turns into an hourglass track and goes into the tunnel that is underneath the hills. The Hourglass Track exits the tunnel under the hills and goes back to regular double lane track. Their is a small branch that bends inland from Harwick and then the two lines meet at the small village of Drogan-y-Claghan. The standard gauge line, now only a single track and no longer the Apple Dale Branch, crosses over the river and passes the village of Cregwir, and then snakes through the valley of the river that flows to Harwick, up to the lake Loey Machan, and the single line standard gauge rout hugs the hillside on the western coast of the lake, the Narrow Gauge North Sodor Railway having the East Coast. The standard gauge line goes through a few more tunnels and over a few more hills until finally reaching Peel Godred and connecting with the Peel Godred Branch. This single lane standard gauge electrified line that runs from Drogan-y-Claghan up to Peel Godred is called the Machan line, named after the lake Loey Machan.

I have a theory as to why Thomas and Percy are seen on Duck’s line semi-regularly.
In real life, branch lines lost a huge load of traffic due to road expansion after WWII. The NWR may have experienced service reductions similar to what British Railways experienced in the early 1960’s.
If the relatively rural Ffarquhar branch had its services streamlined, Sir Topham may have had Thomas and Percy work on the busier Arlesburgh branch.

Since we're talking about the Branch Line Engines:
@20:56 : If this crossing is indeed meant to be at the far end of Elsbridge yard, then that means, in 'Better Late Than Ever,' Thomas did a big loop back around, despite being late and desperately trying to make up for lost time. That is unintentionally hilarious.
On topic: it does indeed make things more interesting when engines can work on other parts of the railway if asked. UT says here that it has the added bonus of seeing them on these lavish sets.

I like to think the secondary loop line via the goods station was built in Season 3, and is also the placement of Callan, explaining why we see Duck and Oliver pass through a lot, because of the connecting line to the LW. It being on the Ffarquar branch loop also explains why we see Thomas there so much. The 3 bridges could also be on this line, just after the junction. However, the LW would have to swing under the loop line.

In season three the first and second part were filmed separately so hackenbeck tunnels can actually be the same tunnel different desing same season. Tug should know that he made the s3 retrospective where he said this....
Second : the three bridges are located at tidmouth. The bottom bridge is the tidmouth harbour line the middle bridge is the main line loop line and the top bridge is ducks branch line before connecting to the main line. Plus the top line can havebulgy on it. In the episode bulgy meets the bridge because he went the wrong way. The shortcut to knapdord doesnt exist and he messed up and met the bridge. Going by the logic of all at sea duck departs ARLESBURGH harbour ( yes it is ARLESBURGH because wenever see those sets in brendam and the sun sets at the key to the west) and goes over those sets.
Three : thomass line loop line connects to the little western at tidmouth hault and goes down to the mainline to tidmouth.
Four: the skarloey railway is a loop with the mid sodor looking exactly like it looks on the map in sleeping beauty. The mid sodor is a T shape with the middle of the T being skarloey station. The west part goes to betrams mine to which a track goes from thomass line. Iwill get to that. The east part goes to vicarstown along the bluebell railway which connects to the mid sodor.
Five: the track in bye George goes to bertrams mine from thomass line. When george did the work like an idiot the track got repaired and in tobys discovery it was in normal service. So the track is standard gauge not narrow gauge how you said in your old IOS map video.
    6. Callan is after the 3 bridges before thomass ducks and the main line junction off. The whole coastal bypass is empty.
I hopeihelped with something i was thinking about this for a long while. This video really inspired me so i wanted to help on the part 2.

I have tried to map out starting with the first couple episodes but keeping track of every track is just so difficult and I feel like I have no space to do it. If I could have one request I would say to continue trying to do the Skarloey and Midsodor railway for a part two and maybe as a part three, take your interpretation of seasons 5-12 as well as their respective movies and dare I say including magic railroad as they do include a station called Killaban which is on the mainline somewhere and do a final map video as as far as we know, have no evidence of a map from those seasons and its movies.

7:20 In Knapford shunting yards, there is this very noticeable bridge. Sometimes you can see trains running over it. 14:55 According to the concept drawing, it leads into the center of Knapford town, not far from the station forecourt. But what is the actual purpose of this bridge, and where exactly do the tracks from there lead? Strictly speaking, there is no logical explanation for it, and the bridge merely serves to create a spectacular film set. My previous explanation was that it is a road bridge for cars that crosses the tracks. However, this contradicts the scenes in which trains are seen running over the bridge. This is generally a very difficult topic...

This map is really good! However I i think there are two things that are wrong with it.
First: is that I think the little western connects the Knapford harbor. We see engines going past Bulstrode’s breach or sets similar to that before or after getting to Knapford harbor in episodes like fish and something in the air. Donald’s duck also says duck’s line reaches a port where big ships come in.
Second: I think Toby’s line wasn’t reopened in s5 but in s3. We see in Donald’s duck that the little western has access to Ffarquhar quarry, and there is no point in calling Haultraugh a junction station if Toby’s was still closed. Also a lot of behind the scenes content also disprove that. Like concept art calling the station Oliver fines the old manor station instead of arlesdale end or something that could imply it’s arlesdale end, the film dates for the Oliver’s find station and arlesdale end being a month, the Oliver’s find station and every version of arlesdale end being completely different, and the s3 map calling the line between arlesdale end and the Ffarquhar the new quarry line implying that the line was reopen in s3.
However I really enjoy the hard work you did on the map. Keep it up 👍.

The whole video is awesome, of course, but my favorite part is that the last set you placed is the first set we see in the intro. Was that intentional, or was it just a lucky turn of events?

If Duncan talked about an elephant statue in Emily saves the world from runaway elephant shouldn’t elephant park be relocated

There probably would be a map for Season 4 and maybe one for Season 5 (the HIT era bible gave us some hints on where certain locations would be) but I don’t know about Seasons 6 and 7.

If the express goes through Elsbridge, there's no way the track from Elsbridge to Tidmouth is a single track if Gordon goes on it. Also, Gordon goes on the track with three bridges with the express which is not on the main line.

Hey, Tug, I was watching Thomas and Percy's Christmas Adventure, and noticed something about Ulfstead. Toby came from the opposite direction of Ffarquhar when he entered the mountain village. Do you think the line might continue and meet up with Toby's line or just a mistake when filming?

My one question is, why would Percy shunt some random trucks into a random siding near Wellsworth? wouldn’t it make more sense for him to put them in some sort of shunting yard? Not on the main line. If anybody knows why this is, please tell me.
