  • Everyone loves a bargain, but content creator and influencer Becky Chorlton, who runs Becky’s Bazaar, may have gone too far with her videos detailing the very personal items in someone's lost luggage, which was legally bought from Heathrow Airport.
Airports can sell baggage that hasn’t been claimed after 60 days or so - Becky bought a case, without knowing what is in it, for $100/£80.
And there was a lot of interest in seeing what was inside - her 2 videos got a combined 12 million views in just a week.
But rather than showing a selection of items from the case, she was criticised for displaying someones very personal belongings, including knickers and sanitary towels.
There were mixed comments under Becky's post including, "This makes me feel so uneasy", "Why would you buy someone’s lost luggage?" and "I’d go mad if my lost luggage was sold."
Becky did reply to a couple of comments, including saying: "They try [to find the owner]...I guess it’s better than it heading to landfill."
She also got in touch with us to say:
"1. to clarify this is UNCLAIMED luggage. Meaning the airport waited 3-6 months to track down the owner. Either they couldn’t (no identification) or the owners didn’t want to pay to get it back..
    2. (due to the contents not being worthwhile). The airport sell to a 3rd party website who probably go through each suitcase & search for valuables etc. Otherwise the suitcase & their contents would..
    3. be burnt or sent to landfill."

All suitcases are pre-checked before they are allowed to be auctioned - and yes anything of any value is taken out.
