- For over half a century, the Porsche 911 has been the poster child for high-performance sports cars. And with the recent addition of a turbo-charged engine, that dominance is set to continue.

And I am the proud owner of 1 of 30000 911s. With my 911s 992.
I love it too
Slightly wrong info, the RS and GT3 trim 911's still feature naturally aspirated engines. Some of the greatest NA engines ever manufactured I might add.
You got there first, was about to make the same comment.
1:23 "the camshaft" but proceeds to show the crankshaft
If they only build 30,000 911s per year, why do they need to build 250 engines per shift ?
They also build the 718 engines there
Probably in case someone needs a replacement engine
*thass Garmon!* 💜
Finally a real car manufacturer
Finally? Is Porsche new to you?
Closed deck... Great start for tuning potentials :)!!
Bi-turbo, one big, one small. Turbo lag gone.
No its still there
Say No to Autonomous Driving when there’s turbo, there’s lag. I’m saying most people wouldn’t notice bi turbo lag as much, in a sense, it’s gone.
“In 2016, all are turbocharged regardless of trim” what the fuck?
I wonder why so many of their engines get scored cylinders?
2017 gt3 rs is naturally aspirated, so no not all 911’s past 2016 are turbo charged
Too short.
Dear Smithsonian CZcams,
You seem to be having problems with your posts. I've been notified of this clip seven times in two days. No new clip, same old clip. Why seven notifications?
Bruh I came here to see the casting process of the engine block and the video starts off with the finished parts smh
Edit : It's an interesting video regardless
If the Smithsonian would come clean about giant skelingtons I would be more inclined to listen to them.
A little 4 stoke engine but yet so fast
Little?
I always wonder what they meant by having a 'turbo-charged' engine

It is totally unfair that so few people can afford a Porsche 911.
GregoryTheGr8ster they're not expensive. Good credit will go far.
You can buy an older one with pretty low miles for a lot less. It’s not like Porsche just started making quality machines, they’ve been doing it
RollingStoned -- Great idea!
Titanic -- Thanks! You and RollingStoned have made my day. I don't feel helpless, victimized, and left out in the cold now. My credit rating just happens to be quite good. I have so much happy and hopeful energy in me now that I could dig a hole to the center of the planet with only a shovel!
Can't believe this guy who is on the Smithsonian CZcams channel had a job. To make such an incorrect statement with the Porsche team around is insane.
I can`t spot a single wrong statement..
Put a vedio on air india 182

No viewer of this video can afford a Porsche
I have owned 6 Porsches and I am not rich ! A 956, A Speedster, A 912, A 911, A 924 (UGH !) and my favorite, a 944. I am just a good money manager.
rodhigh7 toy cars
If they are toy cars, why can't you afford one ?Ppoor money management ???
rodhigh7 I agree! Good money management is key!! I’ve owned four Mercedes AMGs. Fun cars! I’ve considered a 911 recently. Fun cars!
Good on ya !
First (for Real)
Too bad the Narrator can not pronounce Porsche correctly !
rodhigh7 he is pronouncing it the correct way. Por-shuh is how it's pronounced. Not "porsh". How did you own 6 of them and don't even know the correct pronunciation of the name?
Sorry but it did not sound correct to me.
Titanic damn, called him out big time. Caught him on the lie
Turbo lag... Use a
Junk
911=9/11🤦
what
There are so many wrong pieces of information in this video, it’s not even funny, lazy, lazy research.
Shitty engine design! I do head gaskets on these left and right!
Porsche is literally one of the most reliable sports car brands out there, and they've had almost the same engine design for decades, somehow i found this a bit hard to believe lol.
mkelebay really? According to who? I work at Inskip auto center we do these all the time...btw I've been a master tech for the past 25 years so I don't don't know where your getting your info from!
mkelebay also so you know the design of the engine allows oil to pool by the gasket when the vehicle is off that s why it's CRAP!
@@lgonzalez1154 You're describing the most common Subaru problem, I've never heard of it happening to a Porsche
