as a mormon and return missionary i have to say that this is nothing more than a good natured ribbing. there is really no ill will here and i found the songs and story hilarious. Funny enough the play is really like a mission. i just wish we could break into son on mine.
They mention the musical work in South Park the show and film and Team America, but they completely leave out Cannibal The Musical? I know it's not as popular but still seems like it would be relevant to mention.
@lori1700 they already made fun of mormons in "Orgazmo" once so why do you get upset now? They make everything fun, and almost always done fun of everything...
@coreytheace I haven't seen it (I'm on the other side of the country or I would) but I've read a few reviews about it from people of other religions and even a few atheists calling it a work of bigotry and that people who disagree with belittling other religions need not see the show. My point is, being a Mormon, I would still love to see it and I'm sure I'd love it, but not only Mormons are offended by this show... That's the beauty of the creators, they're an equal opportunity offender haha.
@Mackaron Because they said it was an atheist loveletter to the Book of Mormon...I guess they couldve meant it in the sense that their tackling the subject with no partial view point I suppose...they take a strong neutral viewpoint on organized religion and atheism...I think Trey might be a Buhdist though...lol.
there is nothing in my comment that indicates I am upset. I just think there are much better "targets" out there to be made fun of, especially in a time when the world needs all the positive reinforcement it can get.

@JiveDadson-- uhh no. if you believe in jesus, then yes you are DERIVED from the christian religion, and that doesn't make you NOT christian. Mormonism is to Christianity as every belief there is of a "jesus"...
