What advice would you give yourself when you first started playing guitar ?

I think the best thing to do when you're starting out is to just learn a load of different songs in different styles, then take what you learned and experiment with it by creating your own songs.

Yup, good advice. I'm going to do the same, record new tunes. Different tunings inspire exactly that. It's like opening Pandora's Box of music. It just flows out of ya.
Keef and open G found that out years ago. A capo also adds to the mysterious tonal palet.

Yep @firebald2915 100%. The Stones were some of the first to introduce me to open tunings. I particularly like "Can't You Hear Me Knocking".
