      Yes. Most dark circles are caused by shadows from uneven surfaces of
      the face. Dermal fillers can help make the surface smooth, decreasing the
      shadows.Give my office a call at 415-445-9513, and my staff will be happy to assist you with scheduling an appointment!

      Hi Zainab B.! Unevenness and shadows are often caused by volume loss. Dermal fillers replace that volume, smoothing out the face.

    I’m 45, very fair with freckles, but have had very dark under eyes most of my life. I’ve also suffered very bad allergies since I was a kid. Growing up, I was always told the allergies were the cause of my dark circles, and there wasn’t anything I could do about it. I had pretty much made peace with it. However, recently as a professional, I’ve felt I look too tired or sick. If I got fillers, how long do they last? And how long do you have to wait for the second injection. Thank you for any response from yourself or a viewer.

    You seem like you do a good job however, it's frustrating seeing some of your patients because they don't have REAL DARK CIRCLES, or BAGS, I WOULD KILL to have their "Before" pictures, I had fat removed under my eyes in 2009, But the dark circles are still there, and the skin under my eyes are loose, I was recommended to have skin removed under my eyes. But I'm trying to see if a filler will work best. I just want tight symmetry from my eyelids to my cheeks, and some relief with the dark circles. I'm desperate this has been an extreme insecurity of mines since a Teen. I've been wearing concealer for over ten years I'm a black male And I'm looking for more lasting permanent results. Has this is exhausting Maybe I can email you a picture. Please I'm desperate and just looking for a way to finally feel good about myself.

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 7 lety

      LuxeLifestyle, thank you so much for your feedback. I am sorry you are not satisfied after having your treatment. Deep under eye circles is a very common concern of my patients at my San Francisco facial plastic surgery practice.
      Most of us have dark circles that are caused by 2 problems: 1. The skin beneath the eyes is very thin and gets thinner with age. Blood vessels and muscles beneath the eyes may appear as dark circles.
      The second problem is when there is an uneven surface or ridge from the eyes to the cheek, this uneven surface can cause a shadow and this shadow can make dark circles even more dark.
      We can't change the thinness of the skin, but you can address the contour irregularities under the eyes with fillers.
      To correct this, I use Restylane to fill in indentations and minimize the appearance of bags and shadows under the eyes. I like to use Restylane, because it has a firmer consistency and doesn't swell that much. Most patients need 1 syringe to the tear trough and it lasts up to 12 moths. After 6 months half the filler is absorbed by the body and needs a refresher.
      To give you a better recommendation, please send an email with picture to dr.mabrie@drmabrie.com.

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 5 lety

      Sofia - thank you for checking out our video and your questions about hyaluronic acid filler in the tear troughs. In my office, we often use hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane under the eyes for their consistency, efficacy, and predictable results. If the filler is placed too superficially under the skin, there is a possibility of visibility under the skin. This is known as the Tyndall effect which can produce a bluish or darkened appearance. To avoid this effect or other complications, it's important to find an Expert Injector with in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy and experience with treating the tear troughs. This can be a challenging area for treatment, so make sure to do your homework to find a qualified practitioner.

    Excellent work with beautiful results! I've recently had one syringe of Volbella added to the eye trough and it was not only painful but my bruises lasted more than 2 weeks - which left me curious. How much of the bruising is associated with the actual application as opposed to the fillers themselves? The pain alone left me leery of the physicians impatient hands😖

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 7 lety

      Thank you for you comment. Currently I like combining Juvederm Voluma to the mid face and Restylane under the eyes to treat dark circles under the eyes. Bruising is a risk of filler injections, unfortunately. The risks can be decreased by using microcannulas. In my practice the incidence of under eye bruising decrease from 30% with needles to 5% with microcannulas. But bruising doesn't mean the injector was rough or careless, it means there was a vein or artery under the skin that came in contact with the needle or canal and leaked blood into the skin. Good luck!

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 7 lety +2

      Fillers are great for dark circles! We usually need to treat the midface and the tear trough areas. By treating volume deficits in the face the sunken areas become flat. This decreases the shadows under the eyes. Many of my patients have benefitted from using a laser for veins under the eyes. We don't use lasers in our office but you can search for a laser treatment called blue-gone.

    Can we address the risk of blindness? I NEED this procedure but worried about such a dangerous complication!

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 5 lety +1

      Blindness as a complication from filler injections is fortunately, very very rare. In the very few cases, blindness occurred immediately during the injection. Most cases of blindness occurred with fat injection. The high risk areas for intravascular injection are deep to the nasolabial folds and between the eyebrow.
      To keep ocular injuries to a minimum, physicians should:
      1. Use microcanulas, the blunt tip decreases risk of injecting in a vessel.
      2. Avoid high risk areas.
      3. Inject superficially, far from arteries.
      4. Keep the cannula moving while injecting to avoid injecting in an artery. I hope that helps.

      Hi Duke, apologies for the late response. We are located in San Francisco near Union Square. For dark circles I recommend placing Restylane (lasts up-to 12-months) to the under eye area to correct volume loss. I’ve found that the best results in treating the under eye area is to not only inject the tear trough, but also the midface and cheek area to give enough support. If you have any more questions or would like to see me as a patient, please give us a call at 415-445-9513.

      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 7 lety +8

      I currently use Juvederm Voluma to treat the mid face and Restylane to inject the tear troughs, together they reduce dark circles. Juvederm Voluma lasts up to 2 years, Restylane lasts up to a year in general. Because of collagen stimulation by the fillers, the results may last longer in some cases. Some physicians may use a permanent filler, Bellafil in this area, but I don't recommend it because you can't reverse Bellafil in the case of a complication.

      This patient is exactly the same age you are.
      Fillers don’t have any negative effects on your skin at all. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Fillers stimulate collagen production to support your skin. This is great because it makes your skin feel a lot smoother over time.
      I believe that someone should use fillers whenever they feel ready. So, in other words, it’s all up to you!

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 6 lety

      Great question! Often under eye circles are caused by volume loss in the mid-face and under the eyes. By adding dermal filler to these two areas and restoring volume, we can reduce the appearance of dark under eye circles, under eye bags and hollows.

      Hi Prasansha Tandan and greetings from San Francisco! I prefer to use temporary, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers as they are 100% reversible, giving you more control over your results. The cost of treatment varies for every patient and depends on the patient's goals, facial anatomy and schedule. Dermal fillers are available all over the world but different dermal fillers are available for different countries and has to due with that countries drug and food regulations. I always recommend that patients seek a certified and experienced injector who is using regulated products.

I prefer Restylane because it not only gives great results but because it is also reversible.

      Thanks for asking Nik C. Most of our patients find information from what they want to do on our website before coming in. During the initial visit I will personally meet with the patient, take their history, photograph them, evaluate their face together in the mirror and on the computer looking at them from all angles. I will them give them my personal assessment of what I can do to improve their face and develop a plan on how to achieve that.

      One more question.. The $3,000 cost of having liposuction under the chin.. What if u only have a small pouch hanging under the chin? Would it still be the full $3,000?? I only have a small pouch under there, but its enough to really bother me mentally. But its not alot to suck out. Is the $3,000 cost a flat fee no matter how little fat there is? I was hoping if there's only a little &since it wouldn't take as much time, the cost would be less. Hey it doesn't hurt to ask lol

    • @DavidMabrieMD
      @DavidMabrieMD  Před 7 lety

      Currently the best filler treatments for dark circles are not permanent although they are long lasting. Most patients will benefit from a filler like Juvéderm Voluma to the midface and Restylane to the tear trough. While some of these treatments will last up to two years, we see patients at 6 month intervals, because some of the fillers will have dissolved and every 6 months you are aging as well with further volume loss. Your face will continue to have different volume needs over time.
      I don't recommend using the current permanent fillers under the eyes, because these fillers are also irreversible and if you have a complication you are unable to reverse the fillers.

      It's typically best to wait a few more years before receiving dermal fillers for your under eyes. You are still growing and your face will change over the next few years.
