    Great video! Thanks for posting it. One thing to correct is that to center the nose gear, you do not heed to remove the nose gear at all, it can be done by twisting the small 90 degree angle on the servo side of the push rod. You have to open up both the battery compartment and the top hatch. With one hand holding the rod (disconnected from the servo) in the battery compartment and lifting it up, the other hand in the opening in the top, you can twist the rod several turns, checking on each turn to see how it aligns. It's much easier than removing the nose gear over and over. You can do the same with the rudder adjustment.

    thank you so much for your great video! even though I've been building and flying RC's for more than 30 years I still watched your video It's Great To Learn of potential Hang-Ups and pitfalls ahead of time so you can be prepared.

    Great detail in the build, thank you. I bought one already built, but to be familiar gives me great confidence. Thanks for the reminder to get the SPM from Spektrum, I constantly forget that option and at times go through great pains to dial a plane in on my DX9.

    I love your videos. You go into great detail describing the build. I know this is a old video but I just received this plane for Christmas. I have a couple a Timber, (the regular one and the Turbo) what are the flight characteristics compared to the Timbers?? Slow speed and Stall characteristics I should be aware of anything?? I plan to use the same size batteries/
    Thanks

      @AZJim12  Před 4 lety +2

      I haven't flown the Timbers but friends at my field fly them. My sense is they are more nimble. The Cessna dies scale aerobatics easily. Loops, immelmans and split s's are easy with a bit of rudder during the roll. I find that takeoffs and landings are best with half flaps. The climb out is a bit more shallow so I don't drag my tail. With a fairly long final you came get the decent rate established and it will just settle in. It might surprise you how slow an on speed touchdown will be. Taxi with full aft stick to keep the nose wheel light to avoid shimmy ... Just the the full scale version. I really love mine. Merry Christmas.

    Great video. Where do you get the deflection measuring tool? That's a great tool to have!

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 5 lety

      The deflection meter was a Great Planes product. Unfortunately it's no longer available. Tower has one by Robart that's pretty similar.

    Hi, I/m going to use 6S 5800 mAh. Will the original ESC realy hang on ?
    P.S.
    Best presentation.

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! Amps and voltage are the main limitations on esc capacity. The milliamp hours don't really impact things. I use the stock prop and 6 cell batteries with no issues. I use 5000mAh batteries with lots of power. The weight of an additional 800 mAhs of capacity will likey not matter unless there is a size issue with the battery cavity.

  • @bayardtaylor4704

    The plane is set up for 6. Cell from the factory ,

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 6 lety

      The plane will take 4 to 6 cell batteries. Most find 6-cells are best. I use Zippy Flight Max batteries from Hobby King. 6 cell, 4000 mah with 30 - 50 C should be fine. There are other good choices out there but I'm a little cheap with these being about half the cost of say the Admiral brand at Motion RC. The DXe six channel looks like a neat radio with smartphone programming. This model's set up files are available for the DXe on the spektrumrc.com site under downloads.

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 5 lety

      Sorry, no. I downloaded the set ups from the Spektrum radio web site. I used the SD card and my PC to tranfer to my DX 9.

  • @bayardtaylor4704

    Can you recommend a good battery for the plane

  • @TonyHarris99
    @TonyHarris99 Před 6 lety

    I have a Spektrum DX8G2 Transmitter but I couldn't find the Carbon Z Cessna Setup Download Files on either the Spektrum or Horizon Web Sites. Can you tell me where you were able to find the one's you referred to? That would be of great benefit to me. Thanks, your video was very helpful.

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 6 lety +2

      Tony Harris. On the Spektrum RC website under set ups and update you select air transmitters and then the transmitter you have. Then select download set ups. Unfortunately, the Cessna 150 doesn't seem to be listed for the DX8 as it is for the DX9. Don't know why. Hmmm

    • @TonyHarris99
      @TonyHarris99 Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for your quick and helpful reply! I talked to a Horizon Tech about the Cessna 150 setup download and was told that it didn't exist as of yet for either the Cub Z or the Carbon Z Cessna. Wanted you [and your subscribers] to know "You were Right!" I found the download for the Cessna, loaded it to my DX8G2 and there it was! You made my day! I have the PNP version and an Orange [ORX] R1220XLR receiver and Remote Antenna. Never had one before and got no directions. Do I install the Main Receiver and Remote at a 90 degree angle to each other same as I would a Spektrum setup, and which direction would you install the Main Receiver Antenna, facing front or rear and do I leave the Main Antenna's straight or 90 degrees apart? Spent hours looking at your site. Loved it! Thanks again. Tony.

    I’ve bought and build this model plane, just a question to all the owners of this model, do you get buzzing/hum from most of the servos when the plane is switched on and stationery?
    Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 5 lety

      I believe the servo noise when first turned on is the AS3X system calibrating. If the noise lasts longer, I've found some success quieting servos by adjusting both trim and end points.

    • @JohnA0009
      @JohnA0009 Před 5 lety

      The noise is constant. They don’t seem to be chattering. With all servos doing it, is very annoying.

    • @ronwolfe4528
      @ronwolfe4528 Před 5 lety +2

      John Aquilina The buzzing/hum is normal for digital servos, no need to be alarmed.

    I don’t know where your screws were. Not Phillips. That’s for sure. What a night mare

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 6 lety +1

      Sorry the screws proved to be a problem. In my kit the screws all came in small bags within a larger bag so they were easy to find and identify. Horizon seems to be using socket head screws with their larger Carbon Z models. You're right. They definitely aren't Phillips. I got a couple of cheap multi bit screwdriver kits from Harbor Freight that includes various sized common, Phillips, hex and star bits. I'm using one of those in the video. Less than $10. Hope your flying experiences will offset the assembly frustration. I love flying mine.

    I cannot believe folks buy foam airplanes at sky high prices. I wish people would not buy any foam, airplanes, then maybe someday there will more quality airplanes that can be fixed !

    • @AZJim12
      @AZJim12  Před 5 lety +1

      I don't like high prices either but I'd much rather fix a foam airplane than a balsa one. Take a look at my series on fixing and repainting foam planes. EPO foam is way different than the older EPS that turned to popcorn at the impact site.
