- Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn't recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run.
Aided by an unlikely ally (Diane Kruger), Martin plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he's willing to go to uncover the truth.
Academy Award® nominee Liam Neeson ("Schindler's List"), Diane Kruger ("Inglorious Basterds") and January Jones (TV's "Mad Men") star in the contemporary thriller "Unknown." The film also stars Aidan Quinn (TV's "The Book of Daniel"), Bruno Ganz ("The Reader") and Oscar® nominee Frank Langella ("Frost/Nixon").
The film was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra ("Orphan"), from a screenplay by Oliver Butcher & Steve Cornwell, based on the novel Out of My Head by Didier van Cauwelaert.
"Unknown" is produced by Joel Silver, Leonard Goldberg and Andrew Rona. Susan Downey, Steve Richards, Sarah Meyer and Peter McAleese served as executive producers, with Richard Mirisch, Adam Kuhn, Charlie Woebcken, Christoph Fisser and Henning Molfenter co-producing.
Collet-Serra's behind-the-scenes collaborators included director of photography Flavio Labiano, production designer Richard Bridgland, editor TimAlverson, and two-time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Ruth Myers ("Emma," "The Addams Family").
"Unknown" was shot entirely in Germany, using Studio Babelsberg, the oldest large-scale studio complex in the world. Studio Babelsberg is also a co-producer on the film, under an agreement with Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment. Locations also included Berlin and Leipzig.

Just finished watching this film and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Liam Neeson's action/thriller films are great and this one is no exception.

Just watched it today... I loved it it reminded me of taken... that twist was too much for me though. All of a sudden they were all just pro assassins. If they kept the taken theme this movie would have been 10/10 for me but instead it was simply average 7/10.

I paused the trailer half way through and came back to it after watching the movie. It literally gives away the whole plot and all of the twists.

I went in not expecting a great deal and was actually rather pleasantly surprised and satisfied. Not a phenomenal thriller at all but a still intriguing, engaging one. I give it a 6.5 or slightly higher overall.
This film stays true to its genre. Need I say anything about Liam's acting skills? He's always impressive. Good movie this is!

Glad i saw the film before i watched the trailer. Which marketing executive had the spark of genius to ruin the plot twist by including the line 'there is no Martin Harris"!? Imagine a trailer for empire strikes back that included the line "No, I am your father"

I watched the Fifth Element on a double dose of Fat Freddy's in cinema. After the movie and outside again, the whole fucking world was tinted green for at least half an hour. No shit!
When one flew over the cuckoo's nest movie came out in 1975 my cuz. and I did a hit of acid each as we went into the theater at the end of the movie we were peaking and walked home across Edmonton Alberta in the winter, I still remember how awesome the snow and Ice crystals twinkled with colors in the night light...(RIP Cuz. Al)

The Darkman has evolved...Liam Neeson really has some good movies and I'm not talking about that movie with Spielberg...after Taken 1-3 he was bitten by the action bug with Walk Amongst The Tombstones, Run All Night, Non Stop, and The Commuter...this movie is damn scary...I am going to watch Cold Pursuit right after this...makes a pretty damn good night!

I say the same thing. Taken was the most bad-ass movie I have ever seen! Bryan Mills (His name in Taken) could crush Chuck Norris with one hand tied behind his back.
Liam Neeson is one of those actors that you wish you could, after his death, save his brain in some sort of yet unknown fashion and then bring back to life when we have a way to do so. The same goes for Frank Langella, Morgan Freeman and a few others.
