      For shogun 2, they focus a lot more on Battle details, which makes it the Best in term of battle in all total war games.
      The combat animation, the charging unit, the sound effect, the arrow and gun effect and effectiveness, the artillery effect and effectiveness, the fire effect, the cavalry, almost everything in battle of Shogun 2 is perfect.
      Maybe because players did not appreciated these, results in CA removing its focus on battle since Total War Rome 2

      @simonsalgueiro6217 Před 3 lety +89

      @@mercadonor Since Rome 2 the AI tries to flank and focuses your units much better, and also tries to use max range and not just go into short range to fire. Obviously, players have much better tactical minds, but if you watch, f.e, TWH2 legendary streamers, most use cheesing tactics cause a direct 1 vs 1 isn't as easy as before. It can be improved, specially in sieges, but for me the biggest problem is how your own units work sometimes, were they forget orders, do stupid things, go into wonky movements, etc.

      @Ealdorman_of_Mercia Před 3 lety +136

      Not true at all.. I cant stand inept people spouting such lies with no substance.. Such a general statement based on nothing.. The AI is very complicated to program and with every installment they improved it. These are the facts. It's not perfect but quite good in my opinion, lost a few battles as the AI used intricate tactics. However after playing for a while we humans start to notice certain trends and weaknesses of the AI and exploit it, then people like Strawberryseed come along with such a weak blatant lying statement.

    Still think Total War: Arena was a massive missed opportunity. It was great fun in it's early days but when Wargaming took over it became too numbers based. There was a lot less focus on tactical input and co-ordination with your team mates. My low tier cavalry could still be really useful when used correctly with flanking hammer and anvil tactics until Wargaming took over and it was like "Your charge value is less than their morale value. Say goodbye to half your men." Would be cool to see it attached to a future TW title as a multiplayer option. Was really good fun playing with 3-4 friends and actually feeling like officers that were part of a larger army.

    An evolution from an interesting strategy game, to a great strategy game, to peak balance and gameplay and graphics, then because of a shift in ownership, into a mess of cinematic graphics that are not good for gamplay, and an increase in bugs, to over monetisation, to becoming a hero arena battle game with no strategy left. Truly a human arch from naive early game, to trendy teen, into its prime, beginning to panic in its 30s, midlife crisis, and then losing its mind from having to survive and give up what made it unique to the capitalist machine it lived under.

    After all the diversity and content in the Warhammer series, I’m going to find it difficult going back to historical Total War. I completely forgot Troy even existed, that game looked like such a snore fest that I immediately forgot about it when the Sisters of Twilight dlc came out.

    SHogun 2 and 3 Kingdoms stand out for me. As a history buff it served to scratch my itch, and teach me more about those wars in the past.
    Currently with TW Warhammer i dont get that, but the battles are still fun, though somewhat diminished.

    To everyone who wants Empire II and Medieval III like me. You must understand how much effort it needs to get the Historical facts, cultures, families, units right. Everything must be unique for all Countries and historically correct to avoid the "historic proffesors" on the internet and if they get it right they will be bombarded with "Where Black people?" and anything like that whats now in this fkin world

    I never played a lot of the old or in general much of Total War. Only Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2 (Looking forward to 3) and seeing Empire and Napoleon Naval Battle is freaking amazing looking. I'm pretty bummed out they never included that in the Warhammer Series with Naval Battles, they could've really been creative with it sense I always kind of found it dumb fighting with other ships in the ocean and to end up fighting in land.
