  • The CMS Physician Fee Schedule is an important resource and will be utilized often when dealing with insurance contracts and establishing or updating a clinic's fee schedule. This screen share video is the first part of a two-part series showing how to use the tool. This first part reviews how to navigate the fee schedule before Part 2 reviews how the fee schedule is calculated, according to CMS. All web pages shown and used in both videos have links below for easy access. (The video was too long for one video; thus, I broke it down into two separate parts.)
    ABOUT MY CHANNEL:
Hi! I’m Jennifer. After working in the medical field, in many different capacities over the last 15 years, I have learned much about where medical practice owners go wrong in running their businesses. I created this channel to try and assist medical practice owners from making the same mistakes as their colleagues. I want to see the private practice world of medicine grow and thrive. In my opinion, medicine has become too institutionalized, creating a lot of unnecessary obstacles and demands.

The non-facility is the allowed amount from Medicare. It is what Medicare would pay for the service. You want to bill higher than that to anticipate the contractual adjustments if another payer bases their reimbursement off Medicare’s fee schedule. Most people set their charge fee schedule anywhere from 150-300% of Medicare and it’s all based on specialty and expected payments from all contracted insurances. Thanks for watching!
