  • This video shows you how I retrofitted an autodim mirror in my BMW e93, but it is also valid for many cars (e90, e91, e92, e93, e82, e87, e88, e46...)
It is easy and very useful.
You need a mirror, a retrofit kit 61120434330 (avalilable on your dealer for 25$) and basic tools.
    Here are the instructions:
    goo.gl/AwOXn
This DIY is also valid if you want to retrofit a mirror with homelink (garage remote control) or a mirror with compass or the mirror of 'Premium Package'
    Enjoy!
PS: There is a way to swap the antenna of the remote key from your original mirror to the new onw if the new is not a specific e93 mirror. More info here:

I know you can open the mirror using a credit card and tools for opening cell phones and this kind of devices, so you should be able to change the antenna from your original mirror to the new one.
Other way is extract the antenna and install it behind the FZD not inside the new mirror.
    This is up to you.
    Regards!

Thank you been looking to get this done . Previous owner had the mirror with compass, dimming, and home link without the wiring . Now I can get it working , thanks !

    I dont understand your question...
The LED (also know as Nose Clown) is independant and it is not connected to the car unless you have DWAS module (Alarm motion sensor)
You can cheat it and get it working if you install a pair of wires and a oscilator circuit that should be fed with a wire that has been switched on when you remove the key.
It is not possible enabling through coding. (It was possible in BMW E46 and others from the same generation)

I just want to thank you so much. I dont know where I would be with out your post. The video wasn't great but you provided fantastic info! Had an issue becuase I have e93 convertible but you clearly mentioned convertibles need special homelink when no other forum did! Thanks again!

You are welcome, mate! It is difficult to take good photos and videos when you are working alone ;)
I know that the video could be better (even with voice explanations or music) but you made it, so it is at least useful!
      Enjoy your mirror!

    Hi,
The antenna uses 4 wires (Possitive, negative and signals)
I am preparing another DIY showing how to swap it.
It is a separate circuit with its own connector so you can extract it easily.
No coding neede after the swap.
    Regards

Maybe your dealer needs to review the ETK and EBA again.
This retrofit is totally official and your dealer should know about it...
You can buy the mirror and also the retrofit wiring harness at the dealer.
You should ask to another dealer.
You can find the part number of the wiring harness at the video, but there are many part numbers for the mirror depending on your car.

    @JoseJJn  Před 11 lety

    Yes of course!
It is independant of the RLS
    Kind regards.

I think it will work anyway.
It is only five wires with female pins and many sockets.

Does anyone have updated instructions? All the links are dead. Thank you.

That makes a lot of sense. Do you happen to have the info on wiring the antenna?, Without that I am not sure how to wire the antenna in the new mirror or FZD.
    - Is the antenna part of the circuit board, or is it a separate piece of component?.
    - Will the car need to be coded after the transfer?
I really appreciate all the insight you can provide. Thanks a again.

    Hola Jose,

My BMW dealer said 'not possible' only 2 days ago upon my request. Must be ordered when placing order for new car. Maybe I can go this route...

Your remote control not works because you missed to wire pin 8 and pin 3 of mirror harness to +12V (30b) - you can get +12 from FZD, wire red/yellow

hi jose , I got the mirror with compass and home link from e bay and the antenena is not in the mirror. Do you know how to switch the antenena from the old mirror to the new mirror. I did open the old mirror but I am unsure where the antenena is located. Thank you for your help

  • @JoseJJn
    @JoseJJn  Před 12 lety

    Yes of course!
It looks like a board with wires, I have never seen it but here you can find a DIY about how to dismount it and install inside the headliner:
    gooDOTgl/ebwum
No coding needed after that because you are not modifying the modules.
Please, take pictures from the process and share with us! :)
By the way, the mirror of a 1-Series should work too because they have the antenna inside too.
Pay attention to the frecuency of the receiver!

hello,i noticed the part number you listed for the retrofit harness doesn't list my vehicle on real oem,i have a 2006 320d E90.Does it not matter or does it just mean the colour codes on cables are different?

    Hi Jose,
Just one question, is it the same methodology with the red light emitting diode for the alarm system ?
    Thanks again,
    Best regards,

Thanks for the video. Original e93 mirror (with the remote antenna) is very expensive. Therefore, I want to buy a less expensive one and transfer the antenna from my current (standard) mirror to the new one. Do you have any info on how to do that? BTW, I want the new mirror to also have Homelink. I hope that doesn't complicate things further. Thanks!

Hola Jose_Jn. Gracias a tu video!!!
