At 11.34 , he says- Not hepatitis B but hepatitis C virus - but writes HBV. Pls someone clarify this .

Great video ! Highly informative especially for an old graduate who had not studied the details of HCV replication in college ! My concern here is that you didn't make much emphasis on an important non structural viral protein called ( HCV PROTEASE ) though it's a target of a number of HCV protease inhibitors . To name : asunaprevir , boceprevir , grazoprevir , glecaprevir , paritaprevir , simeprevir & telaprevir !

Why does the host ribosome on the RER make the ssRNA (-) ATFTER the initial translation of ssRNA (+)? I thought that is a virus was already (+) RNA then its ready for transcription right away and doesn't need to use itself as its own template??
+Danielle Parks RER makes (-)ssRNA initially from the original (+)ssRNA to use it as a replicating strand to make a lot of new (+)ssRNA!

In fact, it is not the RER that makes the (-)ssRNA from the (+)ssRNA, but the polymerase (NS5B protein) encoded by the virus does it. So, first the (+)ssRNA is translated to make viral proteins, and one among these proteins is the virus polymerase, NS5B. This polymerase then converts the (+)ssRNA into (-)ssRNA, which in turn is used as a template by the virus replicase machinery to make more (+)ssRNA. This (+)ssRNA is then packaged into virus particles.
