That is a different time, that shouldn't be swept under the carpet. They say you learn more from mistakes made.
To Maori it didn't mean we came under the protection of the crown so the crown could rubber stamp their rights, invade and claim our land & kill our people. We weren't the only ones to suffer at the hands of the British, who laid claims to many far away lands, but...
Maori wanted to work in partnership & cooperation & open up trade between our two people. that is still written in Maori on the Treaty of Waitangi to this day. It made no mention of Maori giving up their land.
Amazing the Treaty was found years later gathering dust in the halls of parliament and scrutinized over by experts who realized it meant two different things to two different people.
To Maori it was a betrayal. and those that didn't sign, lost their land along with those who sided with the British. I say British, & not pakeha, because many British considered themselves British citizens at the time.
And so began the biggest scam in New Zealand history. My opinion.
Regardless I hope the words of the late Whina Cooper (RIP) comes true one day, that
"We are all one people"
It's us here and now that need to change our ways, and mindset for our kids and their future, they seem to have stolen a march on us all. Just watch a schoolboy rugby game, you're see what I mean, the challenge is given and accepted, and the future will be in their hands.
I think we're gonna leave a mess to sort out.
But still room to get things right.
These things Maori got there hands out
What do you mean Maori got their hands out??? you're not making sense.
Thats colonial talk bro don't watch if you don't like ,simple..or watch and learn the truth of our past
Europeans brought the land for blankets and muskets
@@PakehaParker New Zealand's Settlement Act 1863 enabled the confiscation of Maori land of Maori deemed to be rebelling against the Crown during New Zealand land wars 1843-1872 because settlers hunger for land & Crown wanting full sovereignty over Maori. The land wars lasted 29 years. After the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi was signed by some Rangatira who signed for a different reason than the English version on the same document Many didn't sign leading to Government confiscating more maori land. more than 16,000 sq km's was taken
@@richardmatatahi4563 many Europeans didn't sign it eather. Luckily for us they weren't like us and didn't just kill everyone. Many maori like to run the Europeans down but we ALL have European blood.
Murderous colonials
Truth hurts
Colonials put a stop to maori slavery and cannibalism. We maori need to pull our socks up and get on with raising our children. We are all equal under one god .
@@PakehaParker what god
Jesus crist our lord 🙏
The truth is far more complicated than this
@gina parker believing in God come on...Christianity was used as a form of control with colonization of country and people...
Google its funny with propaganda about AI😁 translate maori not even to english this trillion business its able.
Maori language its official in google languages but translator its 🤪🤷 useless.
Holymoly AI deep fakes goes but translator not....
