Sisters is a mid-budget comedy starring 2 of the most respected comedians in America and Star Wars is a $200 million-budget sci-fi movie part of an existing international franchise. Yes, Star Wars will take number 1 that weekend (obviously) but why would that affect this movie? Also it is in fact possible to see 2 movies in the same weekend.

This looks hilarious! Love these two, especially when together! But how are they supposed to compete with Star Wars lol? They should move either to January or back to early November a little before Hunger Games. I hope it still does well though cuz it looks great.
Alex Mujica No the studios purposely place films like these when big action/adventure films come out because some people don't want to watch the big ticket movies. So they have a few other options for people for aren't in the demographic for Hunger Games and Star Wars.
TransmissionFilms I'm 100% aware of that. But it's a business and it's all about making money. Hunger Games isn't nearly as big as SW so it'd benefit greatly competing against that instead. It'll still make money no doubt.

What's with star wars fans thinking that literally everybody likes star wars?
Funny detail: not everybody does, even a lot of people that like the same kind of movies (action and sifi) think star wars is overrated.
Specially people that didn't watch the movies as kids and therefore don't associate them with an easier, happier moment in their lives . Moreover, the star wars cult, which is so potent in the USA, is considerably weaker, down to nonexistent, in other countries.
Meanwhile, a comedy appeals to literally everybody everywhere. I haven't yet met one single person that doesn't like to laugh.
Star wars will top on the opening weekend, that's for sure, but once the first wave of avid fans have had their turn Sisters will collect more during the showing weeks, in the international market too. Specially considering it's Christmas break and the general public is in the mood for lighthearted, corny stuff.
Star Wars will destroy all movies right through its cinema run...sorry to break it to you. Also I'd barely consider this a comedy, well, not a comedy that will appeal to a majority of males anyway

Star Wars wasn't just a good Sci-Fi/Fantasy flick. It was actually serious cinema that can be studied by every discipline of story and film.

oh wow. I live in Southeast Asia and even in my country the tickets are almost always sold out and theres always a really long line in the movie theatres and people literally dress up as star wars characters and/or carry a lightsaber in the theatres. Sisters didnt even get a release date here since all the cinema rooms are used for star wars.... shame cos I'd love to watch Sisters too. and btw,go watch the star wars original trilogy. if u dont like it...seriously, u must have some horrible taste for movies.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler had such fun chemistry in 2008's Baby Mama that I'm actually looking forward to this one. It looks like they have switched roles. In Baby Mama Tina Fey's character was the responsible do-gooder and Amy Poehler's character was the irresponsible, reckless friend. Hopefully this one will be just as fun to watch.

It's really a good movie for some light fun. The manicurist is amazing. The movie was well-paced, with interesting and creative episodes on the basic idea. It had varying dynamics and inserted a few slightly deeper ideas without losing the running comedic theme. Very well done.
