Oooof!!! That's too much rust for us Texas folks. I'm terrified of a rusty vehicle. There's just so many good non-rusty ones out there that are much easier to restore. But I respect your effort on getting that LX470 restored.

All the comments are true here. One thing to consider is that this Lexus LX 470 and the Toyota Land Cruisers from this period of time maybe 15 years from now be looked at like the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s Toyota Land Cruisers are now. They could be a collectible. I see people paying a pretty big price for a rust bucket 1970s Land Cruiser that is tiny vehicle with very weird and unsafe back seats and does not have the ride of one of these Lexus LX 470 and they both get crappy gas milage. It might not be crazy to fix a 2000 Lexus LX 470 rust bucket if you got it for a good price and everything else engine, interior ect is perfect.

Fluid film once a year and a new Land Cruiser will last forever.

Saved? You can drive that as is for 20 yrs until that rust effects it in any significant way

That is what we thought. The brake lines are rusted out and brake fluid leaks out like crazy. We are having a hard time finding a mechanic that will put it on a lift. They’re afraid it will fall apart and damage their shop or hurt someone. Very rusty😮

I thought my landy was rusty xD haha holy shit. Your landy looks like it was going thru river every day. =) I wanted to take it off the frame, but my mechanic advised against it (also landcruiser whisperer). Told me that often the 5 silentblocks that body is sitting on do not survive that and need to be replaced along with several other notorius parts, and that there is no guarantee that body it self isn't so rotten the jack would just go straight thru the parts that are suppose to be load baaring. And that the simple act of "just taking it off" and get the frame blasted, welded and coated would cost me (in your money) 10k $ which is basically purchase price of my vehicle. And I've already put somewhere under 10k in to it on repairs and modifications. so YES even Landcruiser100 can be a lemon. I sure would love proper full restoration. but I just dont have 20 to 30k just to do that -makes me sad. Plan is: ! dry ice clean the frame and underbody, check what needs to get welded and then coat it and hope for the best. if the car holds for 10 more years - full restoration.

What a sad case of neglect... could have been a much better car if it was looked after... curious what you ended up doing with it.. but it doesnt seem like anyone would buy it to use it unless it's for parts..

I bought one of those on the cheap knowing it needed some work. I need to fix some rust in the frame. All the rest of the SUV is perfect. Interior replaced by prior owner. All it needed was the timing belt, radiator, and ABS. Everything but the frame have now been fixed. Any recommendations.

I would stay away from “mechanics “ like that

Was it repaired? a couple of months with a mig welder and a few beers and he'd be good for the road I'd say.
