Render engines bring designs, animations, and 3D models to life allowing artists and designers to visualize their work as best as possible. Right now there are two popular and powerful ones known as Vray and Corona render. And today we will be making an introductory comparison between the two for those who don't know where to start or what to choose.

No doubting the quality of vray rendering. but when I finally switched away from mental ray, vray was way less intuitive and more awkward than learning Corona. If you're use to using vray and then switch to Corona, then it's not surprising that it can be a difficult transition. But if you haven't used either before, Corona is WAY easier to get into.

4:52 For a few years now the interactive rendering in Vray is part of the main render engine and is seamlessly integrated like in Corona. It's no longer a separate engine called Vray RT. 🙂

Qualitywise I feel its slightly easier to get nice result quickly in corona but nw vray 5 is really good. For stills I think corona is better at times compared to vray. For sequences vray definitely has more control.

  • @arjun220

Corona has good GI compared to vray specially on interiors scenes. but vray is much more efficient when it comes to very heavy scenes.

That's true which is why it's better for freelancers or people who do this as a hobby, but for people who wanna get hired or start their own Studio, Vray is the industry standard and you have to learn it, I've never seen Corona skills required when looking for interior design or architecture jobs, it's always Vray.
