These moments I envy I am not American. Tool never visits Russia. But for 20 years I am loyal to this music and I need nothing more. Thanks for the video and thank you Tool
First of all, I'm high so forgive everything I'm about to say. Having listened to the album so, so many times, and knowing where every part for them are, it's nerve wracking to watch them live, thinking of how hard it would be to nail every note. Like, you just see how many stumbling blocks there are, especially if you're a musician of any sort. You see where most people would flub it even just a little. Not one of them misses a beat. They're perfectly locked in to such complex songs and they flow perfectly into them. It's cool to witness four people operate on such a masterful, high level.
These videos are starting to be bittersweet for me...been on this FN train since the start man...when they retire there isn't anything REMOTELY capable of filling that void. We saw them twice...not nearly enough. PEACE. MUCH LOVE.
Absolutely. But the last two shows I’ve seen cost over $300 per ticket. Last one I saw was in Atlanta. Great time, but I had to travel from Orlando to see it. I know I’m ranting a bit but damn they are expensive to watch.
People are giving maynard shit for a few timing errors but the other bands members are locked into a groove so it's easier for them. He has to come in a very awkward spots without playing repeating lines. Not an excuse, but the timing on these vocals is really tricky. They will tighten it up.
No band is perfect, no matter how much people want to think that their favorite band doesnt make them. Theyve worked on this song for YEARS, so it probably wasn't that. It was probably that he could have had a fever or a bad day. Girlfriend bitching at him before the show. Who knows. My main thing is though. I love when someone makes excuses then precedes or follows with "not making excuses". Its funny. I get what you mean, but its still funny
Out of all of Maynard's costumes and stage personas, I find this one the least imaginative/artistic/original. If he came out in street clothes and his glasses, it'd be more shocking and artistic than this. But I guess he came up inspired by punk, per his book, so it makes sense if this is where things end.
A lot of CZcams live performance critics who don’t understand what a live performance actually is, it’s not going to sound exactly like the studio recording, and yes there will be mistakes, especially when a band is performing them for the first couple of times , but to critique every note of every performance shot with a phone on CZcams is a waste of energy and your missing the whole point of live performance, it’s supposed to be much more spontaneous and free
It may not be a mistake as just they tried to adapt it to sound better on stage. In example there are some guitar notes - everytime the same - on concerts that are gone. I have 1 song in mind right now typing that
Watching this I have a mixed reaction. I just saw them in Denver and was really glad I was in first balcony versus the floor because it appears this is where this video was filmed. Having said that, being in the Pepsi Center in Denver the sound of course was much better and this does not do it justice. At one point I watched the crowd as they were almost hypnotized and swung to the powerful bass and drums...t almost felt like the music was controlling my heart beat. Also the visuals are important at Tool. Two people told me to not be on the floor at a tool concert because of the visuals. So close up of Maynard and Adam a grade but it was a true treat for a first-time tool concert to be where I was. Si feel like I did myself a favor by seeing them live instead of relying on video. I think Tool is a band that everyone should see live. There's just no comparison and I believe they're the best band on the planet. And I have seen some of the greats, like Queen's first show in Dallas, David Bowie 3 times, U2 first show in Dallas back when they were urgent and not commercialized, so I just witnessed greatness once again. this past Tuesday Like nothing I've ever seen or heard.
They were ON FIRE tonight!! Only a couple flubs and a timing issue on Adam's part. But, Maynard's scream on Part of Me?? Dear Lord. This was my 4th time seeing them and it was only rivaled by my first back in November of '01.
I was in the front on the other side near Justin. I was tearing it up during "part of me." Sick show. Closest I've ever been. Second time seeing them. I was actually surprised how aggressive the crowd got. I was in the thick of it. Got my shoulder dislocated at one point I think during "Aenima or the " The Pot." Lol. The crowd pushing me popped it right back in.....
There seemed to be something wrong with Adams guitarsound @ approx a bit more than 1 min in, and the contagion spread... Maynard sang ”my own mytosis” instead of ” naive, i opened up to you”. Still wonderful to hear this played live...over youtube of course 😀 Would have wanted to be there.
I love how Danny just never messes up even if the other guys do. What a fucking machine. Also what were some of the mistakes? I think I found a few but not to sure
Maynard sung the wrong lyric section in one part and supposedly they stop the song to soon.... Who cares though those songs are long and complex and probably a challenge to play flawlessly.
Maynard came in a measure too early at one point, and you can see Adam’s head swing around to look. The rest of the band adapts so quickly it’s hard to even notice the mistake
Danny is a human and fails, indeed. czcams.com/video/WFHMyX1PA4M/video.html It's funny because at 1:20:25 Maynard miss the lyrics. But at 1:22:15 Danny came down to the chorus at 4/4 when it should be 5/4 and maynard tells him off... Typical
The whole festival was awesome but Tool at the end was the best. Sure we saw/heard mistakes but to be at the first show after Fear Inoc being released was cool. Hoping they make it up to the PNW for the second leg of the tour....
I got lucky.... I'm seeing them in LA. Bought tickets and all. Friend calls me up unexpectedly and says, " wanna go to Aftershock?" Cool! TOOL, twice in one week. Legit!
Sounds like Adam couldn’t hear...he even started playing the guitar riff early that should come in at “venom in mania”. Shit happens live...even to the ‘best’ of us.
It honestly seemed like his guitar issues distracted Maynard and Adam was more concentrated on the guitar coming back. If he was that incredibly aware to be monitoring lyrics though he’s more of a god than he already was haha
Matthias is actually true. Adam said they don’t hear MJK in their ear monitors. A great example of this was a couple years ago...MJK was not back on stage yet for the beginning of the first verse of Vicarious, and it took the rest of the band several seconds until they realized this, and stopped. Danny Carey gave MJK the death stare when he got on stage, to which MJK responded on the mic “Sorry, I was taking a piss!” Hilarious! The rest of the songs went off perfectly .
I bet they rehearsed this like 20 times because they were having trouble with the timing, and Maynard screws it up and Adam is just like, what the hell man?

I was at this show. Never been so tightly packed into a crowd in my entire life. About halfway through the set I was getting claustrophobic so I decided to start working my way towards the back. As I'm weaving my way through the massive crowd I walked into a mosh pit. This girl grabbed my arm and said, "Are you sure u want to go in there?" I told her I'd take my chances, lowered my head, and walked into the mosh pit. Literally, a split second later....BOOM!!! This guy ran into me. His face collided with the top of my head and he got knocked out cold. I wasn't phased at all by the impact. So as he's laying on the ground twitching, I simply chuckled, shook my head, and kept moving towards the back of the crowd. Me: 1 Mosh Pit: 0

Well don't hold your breath. I've heard that since 2001. We got the live box set but no video
I wish they'd professionally film some of their concerts.

Tool was out of this world. Tears of happiness came out when tool started playing.

Tool is back again at Aftershock. Already got my tickets. Can't wait!
Nice. Adam does the swells old school with the volume knob and not a foot pedal. Love it.

The videos are for those of us who live in regions where these bands don't travel to and travelling from here is only for the wealthy.

I saw them in San Diego, January 10th, my first show of theirs. Unfucking believable night
