  • Welcome to my channel!
    Last year my friend taught me how to make these Jesmonite Terrazzo trinket trays and coasters. I fell in love with Jesmonite and decided to purchase some in bulk myself. This is my second time using Jesmonite AC100 and I’m learning as I go.
    Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video. I’m working on more ideas- I have 17.5 kg to go through :) If you have any questions, leave me a comment below :)

    This was so helpful, tysm!! Question, after spraying the seal, do you find that it loses that stone/concrete finish to the touch? Thanks! ✨

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for watching! :) Yes, i know exactly what you mean. I used a matte sealer so it doesnt completely take away the stone/concrete finish, but it still leaves a little sheen. Very minimal though

    thanks for your video its very informative.... any idea how to get the paste in pure white color? have you tried it before? appreciate your feedback if so. and one more question do you always add the pigments to the liquid ? because when i do that and then add the powder again the color gets lighter.so how can we get exactly the same color as what been tested?

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! I've seen other artists create pure white so I know it's possible. Try adding more pigment, but the max is 2% by weight of total mixed jesmonite. ie if the liquid and powder combined is 100g, don't go over 2g of pigment. Let me know if it works!
      Yes, I also ran into that issue where the color became lighter after adding the powder. I try to make the color a little darker than what I want. I also add more pigment after I've mixed the powder in. The reason I mix the pigment in the liquid first is so I have more time to play around with the colors. I think after a while, you'll find a ratio of drops to recreate the colors you like so you can mix the liquid and powder in first and then add your pigments. i.e 1 drop of white, 1 drop of blue, 2 drops of red= your perfect color! Hope that makes sense!

    These are lovely - are they waterproof?

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před 2 lety

      Thank you 💗 I would say they are water resistant because water beads off the tray after I sealed them. I don't think I'd submerge them in water though, but I haven't tried. Maybe I'll test it out and let you know!

    hi for the liquid product is it the same like white cement? :)

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před 2 lety

      hi! thanks for watching :) the liquid is actually part of the jesmonite kit. It's a 2 part system and comes with a liquid and powder that you have to mix. Hope that helps 💗

    Hi!!!! I have a question! How do you know the amount of quantity of jesmonite for each tray or bottle? How do you get the measurements? Thanks❤

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před rokem

      Hi! Thanks for stopping by my channel :) That's a great question and I'll try to include it in my next jesmonite video. There's actually a calculator online (www.jesmonitecalculator.com/) where you input the amount of water required to fill the tray and it'll convert it to the liquid and powder amount you need. Hope that helps ❤

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před 2 lety

      I agree, Jesmonite is expensive. Yes, I've seen people use cement for terrazzo! I think it works, maybe i'll try it one day for the channel :)

    any Acrylic sealer will be ok?

    • @joolieshome
      @joolieshome  Před 2 lety

      Maybe spot test a small area on the back to make sure the finish looks good and doesn't yellow. I used the mod podge brand and it worked well :)

      Hi Arash! Welcome to my channel 👋The material is called Jesmonite AC100. I've seen people place food products on it, but based on their site it hasn't been tested for food safety and they don't recommend placing food on it. Here's a link for more information on the product :)
