It seems that some embraer engineers should lead the boeing management since they can build excellent aircraft without focus on stock price, afteral it was the mcdonnell douglas board that went on to lead them .
I work for Delta and they got rid of the 777 and 747 basically trying to make it mostly all Airbus from the A220 A319 A320 A321 A330 and A350. They have been using the B757 and B767 for use the only dependable aircraft’s other than the B737 -800 and 900.
Who said destroy? Boeing used to be the first and was surpassed by Airbus recently because of all the investments and hard work etc. Exactly the same Embraer is doing. So yes, it's possible in the future for Embraer surpass both.
In its specific category, the E-Jet E2, are better than the A-220, but this one carries more passengers and has a greater range, which has been the preference of many companies. But carrying the same number of passengers and cargo, E-Jets are more economical in direct comparison. That's where it surpasses the A-220! Fact!
Embraer continues to be a "small" company among the big ones. It continues to make its good planes and offer different, economical, silent products. A global company, with human values and highly technological.
