    Great idea on drilling your screw holes from the bottom. I have to redeck my 20' utility trailer and I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how I was going to find the holes in the metal framework. Now that you've shown the "smart" way to do it, I will be able to replace my wooden decking on my trailer much easier. Thank you so much!!!

    Every deck project I’ve ever done has started off by carefully measuring and squaring off each board. There’s always a 1/4 to 1/2 inch that has to be cut off so they’ll all be exactly the same length.

      Yes, I learned the hard way. That was my first time doing a redecking project. Thanks for the tip . . . much appreciated.

    Wish you were my grandad 😂 I want to add wood floors to my mesh floor trailer but I don’t have any skills with this type of work. I will try drilling holes from underneath so I can put a washer on them.

      @danielchambers1958  Před 2 lety +1

      I think your idea will work great. Washers and large bolts should do the trick. Merry Christmas Sir.

    Good call on the wire. I have backed down a steep drop and ended up breaking the wiring.

      GM Sir, I was nervous about doing the same thing as you. . . I am glad I fixed it. QC seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur . . . thanks for watching!

    On the last board or two, try this instead of cutting the angle iron lip at one end or the other. Screw down one end. Just let the other end lay on top of the angle iron and have a friend stand on the board at that same end. Put a small hydraulic jack underneath and slowly jack the board while the friend is still standing on the end. As the board bows, it will begin to slide off the angle iron. When it clears the angle iron, slowly ease the jack down. It will help to take a grinder and bevel the top edge on the end of the board so it will slide into the slot easier. No cutting, no welding.

    Yes sir you are right...attention to detail is sadly lacking on many products made here. It's also sad the trailer manufacturers don't take in to account we will have to change out our wood.

      I agree with your comments 100% . . . I think a hinged opening would be ideal for access the wood boards on the floor. Next time, I plan to use expanded metal for the floor. Thanks for watching.

    • @danielchambers1958
      @danielchambers1958  Před rokem +1

      Yes, used motor oil makes the wood last longer….. use a mop or paint brush on a dry day…… hope that helps👍
