@@sandroxino Nat 20 implies luck despite skill (1 hit wonders). Dark One's own luck implies selling your soul to the devil (Tenacious D vibes there). Guidance implies a really good production team (which may well be true or may not). Expertise in performance is the most likely reason.

I am absolutely mesmerized by this song... For anyone who doesnt know: this song alludes to the possibility of embracing the gifts and love of the Dream Visitor, giving yourself over fully, to stay with them, down by the river in your mind. Sadly this character was changed from EA to a more stern character, instead of a potential lover, changing the original intent of this song. Nevertheless, the theme of giving in to the tadpole, losing yourself, and staying down by the river, hits really hard for me, as i can see an allusion to Drug Abuse and how one can lose himself in the promise of "staying down by the river", not only because of my own personal history, but because i can fully envision the tragic story of a PC that didnt manage to save the day, defeat the villains and get the girl, but one that lost everything and in their defeat, embraced the only love they know....
what really fucks me up though, is your cover of it. For such an emotional song, hearing the hard riffs and metal twists to the music, combined with the WAY harsher voice, makes it hit even harder. truly wonderful to behold and i cant give you enough praise!
To be fair, you can still pursue and be pursued by the sterner character as a potential lover. The only difference now is that the individual in question is not nearly as relentless in their pursuit of your character, though they are certainly eager to push their "gifts" on to you.

The context of this song changes greatly, when you discover it was meant to play while interacting with the previous version of the customizable Guardian who was a customizable Lover, and was supposed to represent the tadpol inside your head, and its attempts at taking control. While the content was cut, the song remained, which honestly was a great decision as its quite iconic.
This song give off massive “final showdown with the big bad evil guy” vibes!! Amazing work as always V!
In the original conception of the game, it kind of was, in a sense.
Honestly i'm getting more of "a long-awaited final showdown between long lost friends who had grown apart cause of different world views" vibes from this one

Man, I just can't say anything. Is it normal that while listening to that music (or, well, any version of "Dawn by the River"), I feel so melancholic? Why has my soul suddenly become so heavy and sunk so deep? Why does Baldur's Gate 3 make me feel things? I've just completed Act 2, so I've even not finished the game. I can't imagine my emotions after I do.

Karlach is just pure unfiltered joy, despite of impending doom, maybe because of it. Doesn't matter. If you're doomed anyway, you can still enjoy the f'ck out of being alive. I never run without Karlach (and Shadowheart).

@LunarSpiral1127 Not really. There are some characters that return but its a great experience on its own. Dont let it hold you back. Its also very welcoming to people with little experience in the dungeons and dragons ruleset the game uses!
@LunarSpiral1127 It's similar in the sense of the Persona series. You don't have to play the previous games to understand the story. Just Easter eggs that pop up from previous games

Also, I have to say: compared to the original and its meaning, where the original would be more of a romantic story, this one feels like the same story, but from a desperate point of view.
Where the first one would be simply accepting the gift and enjoying the rest of your life in blissful ignorance, this version feels like a last hope to be happy one last time, giving in to the gift to have a pain-free death while the world burns around them.
