Fraiba Yaqoubie verstehen = to understand, and verstehst is the 2nd person singular form, but you want to use the 1st person singular form: verstehe. Ich verstehe dich. Rather than: Ich verstehst dich. however, you could use it like this: verstehst du mich? = do you understand me? possible reply: Ja, ich verstehe dich (just replace "dich " with Sie or euch if you are addressing 1 or more people using Sie, or if you just want to be polite use Sie rather than dich. if you are addressing 2 or more people you can use - euch rather than - dich, but it is informal.

I assume you are German speaker. Therefore I suggest you to inform you better about Gender in the German language at the following website: _Belles Lettres .eu_

Look out for *_Substantiv, Adjektiv, Pronomen_* and these two topics *_Das grammatische Geschlecht_* and *_Der Führerin entgegen!_* After that you really understand how the genus in German works!

Zeitungsgift there is nothing wrong with saying Lehrerin for the word teacher related to the profession. especially, when you are referring specifically to a female teacher, not a male teacher. aside from that German has a gender for all nouns. they don't always relate literally to the actual gender of the person or entity. but as far as being a teacher you can either be a Lehrer or a Lehrerin. perhaps it is a bit old fashioned by modern Germans to use gender specific words to identify a professional as either male or female. however the majority of, if not all professions in German have a masculine & feminine form. but due to American influences over German oftentimes you will see no gender like in English. such as the generic English word: Teacher. used for all people who teach regardless of whether they are a woman or man. which seems exactly how you are using it, or applying it in German as well. additionally the term: actor is widely used in modern society as a form of showing equality between the genders. (not sure when females wanted to be males and no longer took pride in being a professional female. actress/ actor one rare example of genders being exhibited in a tile for a profession in English.) adjective after the noun to modify it is unusual for both German and English languages. it is more common place in French and Spanish and other romance languages. but that is a separate issue entirely.

First of all, the genus *_never_* refers to a sex / gender in german. (Please read, watch what I suggest in my other posting.) The are not correlated, because they have a totally different function in german.
To say _Lehrerin_ is the same as saying _weiblicher Lehrer._
_Ich finde dich als weiblicher Lehrer gut._ Doesn't sound that a little bit sexist?
Or would you say to a male teacher:
_Ich finde dich als männlicher Lehrer gut._ Would you?
If that is what you want to express, go for it. To me in a modern society the specific gender shouldnt matter when you are an excellent teacher. Therefore it oddly to say what her gender is, when we have a perfect neutral term for the profession; and we all have already assumed the gender, don't we.
