- Filmed on 21/07/2020. Travelling along via the Durham Coast Line on board a Ex ScotRail class 156 no. 156477 between Newcastle and Middlesbrough. For the final station of the day, it was worth doing a trainspotting session at Teesside capital, Middlesbrough (Season 7 Episode 12)
A nice evening spotting session with quite a few changes. Having visiting Middlesbrough Railway Station since 2016, there has been mostly class 142 Pacer buses and 156's. But, since the Pacers has been withdrawn from service some ex Neville Hill based class 158's has now been transferred to Heaton depot which is a odd but fantastic sight.
Very odd appearnce as a freight ran via platform 2 rather than the bypass line which runs behind Middlesbrough station. As well, a Freightliner class 66 also cruised by Middlesborough station.
During a hours stint roughly, this was the variety that was seen:
DB Cargo UK Class 66
Freightliner Class 66
Transpennine Express Class 185 Diesel Desiro
Northern Trains Limited Class 156
Northern Trains Limited Class158

I like the trans pennine express
I love the northern train and the trans pennine express
Yep, and they are the only passenger operators in Middlesbrough and Tees Valley Line :-)
What
Great video
Lovely collection
Thank you kindly :-)
I didn't know that Class 158s go to Whitby.
They have been doing so since 2019 as the Pacers replacement.
Why was 156488 going to the sidings wouldn't it terminate first?
It's because 156488 ran empty from Nunthorpe and had to go via the station to gain access to the sidings.
Why aren't there any Class 68s as they're meant to run to Redcar?
Because there was very little driver training which was done. Since the current covid19 situation, everything has been delayed.
Think TPE will resume their driver training once things returns to normal but for now, they are only on Scarborough to York/Liverpool diagrams.
Double Transpannie Expresses class 185s. SWEEEEET 👌👌👍. Can you do trains at Dagenham Dock on the LTSR and HS1.
Thank you Arnold. Its a theme with Transpennine Express for pairing class 185's on most o their diagrams. I'll put it down on my to do list for next year, it does look a stunning location.
Thanks for the suggestion and your request :-)
@@RickyNowis many passes by Southeastern High-speed, Eurostar and Freight trains as well
@@RickyNowis your welcome Ricky 😉😉😉
is their a lot of trafffic to redcar on the manchester airport train?
Well, hourly services between Redcar Central and Manchester Airport. Pairing of class 185's which will eventually be the Nova 3 sets.
Well great start with some freight, really enjoyed this one. And both my favourite trains are in the thumbnail. And never knew 158s went to Whitby. Or is that replacing the Pacers on that line?
Most likely 156 go to whity and I just remember, Pacers use to do Saltburn to Darlington/Bishop Auckland diagram.
Pacers are long gone from the North East. 158's started running services here late 2019 into 2020. Yeah, 158's do run to Whitby.
@@RickyNowis interesting
@@RickyNowis The 158s are very loud DMUs.
@@arnoldspottingvideos5269 but they are good DMUs and tbh probably one of the most reliable
Never been here before, but it looks decent
Glad you have enjoyed it :-)
I’m surprised that you did train spotting at my local
Station. And just to let you know the double 185 sets don’t let you on in the back 3 coaches until york
Yep, Middlesbrough is a regular spotting area I like to film at.
Thanks for the info, had no idea on that to be honest. At Middlesbrough, all doors was available from what I saw anyway.
Ricky Nowis weird
@@yorkshireladdylan9649 Unless you probably meant stations which has small platforms like Yarm and Thirsk that won't fit all 6 coaches on.
Ricky Nowis yea but whenever I travel to york on a 6 car it won’t let us on the back 3
Strange that. But understandable to maintain social distancing measuring in place.
