  • Oddly, here is an alternate mix of Monkey Monastery's Factory Spitfire which has a bigger emphasis on synths. The Pre Copeland version of the final game's song will be released soon.

This would make a good piece for a version of the challenge either at sunset or at night. Having read the reasons why there were several scores Copeland didn't add anything to, it makes me wonder if part of the reason being as well is he thought something along the lines of "Damn, these guys have actually done better than I can on this one" and especially after messing up "Caterpilla"?

Woah, is that drum loop at the beginning the one used throughout the prototype Lost Fleet theme, because it sure sounds like it! I don't remember it being in the final, but if it was, it was definitely toned down for the final.

Yep it’s the same drum loop, it comes from a Zero-G sample pack which was also used on Spyro 3 in Sergeant Byrd’s Base.

@@MrFO1 Interesting. It does sound like the drums from Sgt. Byrd's Base, though I don't remember this drum loop in particular being used there.

@@Radicalicious That specific sample isn't used in Sgt Byrd's Base (though most of the other ones used here are), but all five of the Chemical Beats samples featured here in this track are indeed also in the used variant of Riptoc Bombing.
If you want to hear another weird ETD similarity with that proto YOTD track, the organ melody in the middle section is extremely similar to a part of Mid Flute...

This feels like a good future version for this level in the style of sonic cd

Is it the synths in this track that remind you of Sonic CD? If so what Sonic tracks, curious to see the similarities

@@MrFO1 it doesn’t have the dramatic orchestra part of the song and feels peaceful

I wonder what this would sound like if this used Copeland’s instruments..... and speaking of which; Does that version exist? (I’m NOT referring to the one used in the game)

Probably not. I doubt Copeland would’ve spent time working on several versions of songs. He was really pressed for time already as is. My theory is that he didn’t find this version fitting enough.

Almost certainly not unfortunately. There's several early songs which Stewart just didn't use for whatever reason, or at the very least didn't include on the master CD's he burnt for Kenneth.
