  • Turkmenistan is a country located in Central Asia, bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the east and northeast, Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south, and the Caspian Sea to the west. Its capital and largest city is Ashgabat.
Turkmenistan has a population of approximately 6 million people and is known for its natural gas reserves, which are among the largest in the world. The country has a largely arid and desert-like climate, with very hot summers and cold winters.
Turkmenistan was formerly part of the Soviet Union and gained independence in 1991. Since then, the country has been led by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who has been in power since 2007. The country has been criticized for its lack of political freedom and human rights abuses.
Despite its wealth of natural resources, Turkmenistan's economy is heavily reliant on exports of natural gas, and the government maintains strict control over most aspects of the economy. The country is also known for its ornate and grandiose public buildings, many of which were constructed under the current president's rule.
It's difficult to make a direct comparison between the strictness of Turkmenistan and North Korea as they are different countries with different political systems and social norms. However, both countries have been criticized for their lack of political freedoms and human rights abuses.
In Turkmenistan, the government exercises tight control over most aspects of society, including the media, political opposition, and civil society. Freedom of speech, assembly, and religion are severely restricted, and the government has been known to imprison and torture political dissidents and journalists.
Similarly, North Korea is known for its authoritarian regime, which exercises strict control over all aspects of society. The government heavily restricts access to information, and political opposition is not tolerated. The country is also known for its severe human rights abuses, including forced labor and public executions.
Overall, both Turkmenistan and North Korea are considered to be among the most repressive and closed societies in the world, and both countries have been criticized for their lack of political freedoms and human rights abuses.
Turkmenistan is known for having some unusual and strict laws, many of which reflect the country's authoritarian political system and conservative social norms. Here are a few examples:
The government has banned certain breeds of dogs, including pit bulls, Doberman pinschers, and Great Danes, as well as cats with short tails or ears.
The country has strict rules on public behavior, including a ban on smoking in public, drinking alcohol outside of designated areas, and chewing gum in public.
The government has also banned certain types of music, including rap and heavy metal, as well as certain hairstyles and clothing styles that are seen as too Western.
Turkmenistan has also imposed strict controls on the internet, including blocking access to many social media sites and requiring all internet service providers to operate through a state-controlled network.
The government requires all men to serve two years of military service, and failure to do so can result in imprisonment.
Women are required to dress modestly in public, and the government has banned makeup in many public places.
Overall, Turkmenistan's legal system is highly centralized and authoritarian, with strict controls on public behavior and limited freedoms for its citizens.

Hi, turkmen here! I left Turkmenistan and applied for political asylum 5 years ago. I can confirm that people there are happy, simply because they dont believe, or rather dont wanna believe, that there is a happier life outside of the nation. Inly the more educated know what freedom is there. But those that are in denial still live happy lives.
Small edit: I don't want to spread misinformation, so I will just add that everyone's lives in Turkmenistan heavily depends on connections and the amount of money they earn. Many people have answered me that they are from Turkmenistan but have lived happy lives. And as per request I will just say that what I'm talking about in my comment is what I saw personally through my 13 years living there with my own 2 eyes. I understand that some may have had different experiences, but to say that Turkmenistan is fine and has all the resources and human rights as any other country is like bullshitting in my face. I can talk for hours about how many of my family members died from the lack of medicine and treatments. About my family members who were wrongly accused of crimes because they knew too much. I can talk about my own mother who was detained for months because of her dispute with a politician. I don't want you thinking that everyone's life was as bad as mine in Turkmenistan, but you have no right to say that Turkmenistan is like any other country. My story is just one of many, and hopefully one day dictatorship will cease to exist in Turkmenistan and we can hear the stories of other people as well. • @afreightdogslife
      @afreightdogslife Před rokem +157

@manikantasaiD Well, when you travel from the airport to the hotels that are located at the edge of the Caspian Sea, you can't help but notice that there are no local people wandering around the area. The locals that you do get to see are, for the most part, employees of the hotels or people who work for the state, and they are the ones that keep the landscaping of the town neatly groomed.
As you check in to the hotel, you will have a very limited choice of television stations and / or cable shows. Most of the tourists that you do see are Russians or Ukrainians, and the rest of the tourists are really airline crew members like myself.
There are no places in the area where you can go and exchange foreign currency into local currency. You must do this at the airport at a local bank, and the exchange rate is really bad.
The workers at the hotel are friendly, and they speak fluent English and Russian.
The food at the hotel is good and alcoholic beverages are very expensive. We were advised by the hotel employees not to venture to the nearby town because there was nothing for us there, and transportation (taxi) was not going to be available to us, so we never ventured to the town, as we only stayed at the resort and enjoyed our stay there.
Every time I arrived there, the area gave me the feeling as if we were in a Hollywood movie set, complete with a town and parks, with roads and freshly planted trees, with no actors to be seen anywhere around. The only thing missing was the movie crew waiting for the actors to appear to start filming. That's the feeling that I had and could give you.
At one time, we went to Ashgabat, and from there, we took a private tour (road trip) towards the famous Gates of Hell. This was as I remember, a 03 hours and 45 minutes road trip. There were people there when we arrived, and ended up staying almost 4 hours. When we were done, we took the small tour bus back to Ashgabat. It was an unexpected and interesting tourist attraction. I believe the trip was worth the price we ended up paying.
For the most part, I enjoyed my time in Turkmenistan.

we're already busy getting ready for the upcoming war with china when those communist party cockroaches in beijing invade taiwan. that wouldn't just save one and a half billion people that have been enslaved by one of the most wicked and evil communist regimes on this earth for a hundred years, but it would also take care of the biggest existential threat to humanity and the american-dominated global world order that has given us and like 75% of the people in this world the most peaceful era in human history with the most freedom and innovation and the highest standards of living and the most access to western values for as many people as possible. just that right there would bump up the amount of people having access to freedom and western values to like 90% or something. it would break every record for the largest liberation of enslaved people in the history of this world.
beyond that, russia is already crashing and burning just from getting obliterated by the ukrainians and will be taking apart washing machines to attempt to rebuild their stockpile of advanced weapons for the next 100 years given the sanctions that aren't gonna go away until they pay back probably over a trillion dollars in reparations for the damage they have caused in ukraine and hand over their war criminal leaders like supreme comrade vladimirovitch.
north korea is gonna collapse and literally starve to death without their chinesium masters and russia, so that will leave just a few small and irrelevant third world authoritarian regimes like cuba, venezuela, nicaragua, etc. and iran and syria and maybe a few crapholes from africa and asia and south america that could probably get dealt without requiring any large scale military operations just by a surgical decapitation strike against their dictators followed by applying pressure and sanctions. and most of the axis of evil countries and dictatorships in the world don't have anything themselves and would be eating dirt and starving to death if they didn't have one another and mainly china and russia propping them up, so with those two out of the game most of them would collapse on their own.
so yeah, the enslaved and subjugated people of the world that are currently living in backward authoritarian dictatorships like these are gonna have to either figure something out and grow some balls and fight for their own freedom and fight for themselves and their families, otherwise they're gonna have to wait for a while longer until we are done dealing with the chinese communist party threat. and then we'll see what is left over and what the west can do to help them.

Much of the population lives in poverty, it's not the paradise the windbag in the vid is making it out to be.

Not all of them are happy. A quick google search will tell you that. For one, it is not safe for lgbtq+ people. They face a lit of discrimination, hate crimes, and prejudice.
In general, the country’s human rights are heavily criticised. Including discrimination against ethnic minorities. For example, the Balock, whose language was even made criminal to teach.
Playing video games. Long hair on men. Facial hair. All banned.
Freedom of religion is not practiced. All religious groups are repressed.
They have worse press freedom than North Korea. Journalists are often arrested, and falsely imprisoned.
They have no political freedom. Any opposition to the government is treason.
      Police brutality.
      And more.
The people are clearly bot living happily, they just can’t tell anyone they’re unhappy and need help because if they do, they’ll be arrested or killed. You would have to have a negative IQ to think they’re super happy with any of this.

It depends most items are cheaper but compared to world 1.31x more expensive. Eating out is same S.E.- U.S. Perishables slightly less. Internet seems to be much more expensive relative to the speed at $80/10 mbps.
