- David appeared on the show in June 2000 and sang Wild Is The Wind and Starman. After the end credits he stayed to perform two further songs which were not broadcast on tv, Absolute Beginners and Cracked Actor.

He wasn't that versatile musically ..I don't recall his jazz or blues or hard rock ..except tin machine ??
This is one of my favorite songs,absolute beginners,and this is the healthiest I have ever seen bowie look!!He looked always gorgeous to me!

There's no reason to lay down the hard times.... It's absolutely true....nothing much can happen ..nothing we can't shake. But we're absolute beginner's with nothing much at stake. I absolutely love you though we're absolute beginner's and if my love is your love then we're certain to succeed....it's absolutely true... What a lovely, live song. Luck would have it all the ladies adored David and he was a natural singer-- honest and true to life,so true to life.

Absolute Beginners put DB on my radar as a teen in 80's n tuned me into his whole thing, for that reason alone is a such a special song / moment in time ...
For me it was just the other way round. Listened the old stuff and avoided the mainstream songs - I wasn´t successful. This is real class and I absolutely love it ! Btw he didn´t make too many lovesongs, and also this is not a typical love song. Genius
The first two lines after the music intro are so 'hello David, all is now well in the world'.

A typical TFI audience.....
But...this isn't the Bowie that I know and remember. Both these versions are incredibly tame and pedestrian. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I remember him being a damned sight more lively and driven than this.
this is the best version of Cracked Actor ever. More lively than Ziggy.
It's a ballad plus he was in his mid 50s, I'd be embarrassed if he was strutting like Jagger
