Yes. This is my favourite track from the album he eventually produced with Dave Gilmour. Prefer it even to Octopus. Did Gilmour use the original track recorded with M Jones then?

    • @fillherupjacko6841
      @fillherupjacko6841 Před 8 lety +5

+Poetic?Maybe. Gilmour had nothing to do with this. Fortunately Syd had already "mixed down" this track before Gilmour appeared - so he couldn't even make a mess of that (as he did with "Late Night")

    • @poeticmaybe.4634
      @poeticmaybe.4634 Před 8 lety +4

Yeah. Malcolm Jones also had some criticism of Gilmour regarding Madcap . Said that he couldn't believe that he'd left Opel off the list of tracks for the album.Hard to believe Gilmour when he says he didn't know it existed until years later.

Sucks when no one really grasps how great Syd Barrett was and how great he could have been. He was a true genius. It is tough for a listener to grasp how imaginative and how cool Barrett made the psychedelic era of Pink Floyd sound. He just had a way of reaching out to the ears.

Shut your shop, shut your shop, listen, listen,
the horizon glows like a dove and I see
From a mild, shiny ocean, choke and weave in a spinning wheel
Pick up and tell love to me, open your door
Musty sugar with dust making stale it crows the near day
The Cockerell, listen, listen, short choose of play,
Freedom of emotions and cracking my spleen 'cos we be us
Is wishing - pick up and tell love to me - open your door
Find - all I wish is shiver and whine the mean
could no notice to be as they be
Give a lot - listen listen - the grave sing you her song -
      heavily spaced
All the crockery, china, war and spreading a spinning wheel
Opening, what a roll but you open the door, some time, long ago
Stream cool shallow water - seen a lot, seen a lot

There were some fine collaborators on his solo albums actually. Of course Gilmore and Floyd’s organ player would get royalties and all that. In fact, at the time Floyd was struggling and wasn’t a sure thing so of course an alignment with Syd of some sort was in order even though they were busy....

Always Syd B. will be satisfied with his technique and his art of playing. It always seemed beyond his ambition and his ideal, and if he worked hard, the result inevitably filled him. However everything he created frustrated him, it always seemed to him that he could do better, "better to see" ..

Most of the time a pioneer is lost. The first ones on a new continent don't last long. The first brave souls headed to Mars probably won't last long after they set up the colony.
Sometime in the 1990's this sound really hit FM radio. Its pioneer, Syd, long lost.

Stop that, that just upset yourself
Listen, Listen, if you ask in person
I'll stick to the joke, you know
      yelling and screaming, help me!
All that in the afternoon, for that matter
So she'd asked if we could stay with Grace
Maybe a day or a couple of weeks
      You know, until Tuesday
      Pick up my mushrooms
      Clean my skin up
      Pick up some tissue
      Pick up the production
      It's all fine! you know
      And she served the wine
and cups for 3 or 4 people
      And that nonsense
Gracie do her song, heavily spaced
All the pink shine on war
      Explodes from beneath
      Don't you would rather
Be out the front door sometime
