    Unbelievable! What a turn around! Lisbeth was in real trouble with the loss of the PPC, but with a few piloting mistakes by the Phoenix Hawk, she was able to sneak behind and get in some good hits... Im sure Al-Amin will remember in the future to keep her back safe by moving a bit more!
    Great match!

      @@derekburge5294 as a Spheroid, the Cbills, of course. But the thing is, being an honorable opponent might increase public perception of you on Solaris. And that means you are more popular, and other mechwarriors are more likely to want to set up matches with you. If you have a rep as a ruthless fucker who doesn't care about the well-being of your opponent, that could ruin your career.

      I was so happy when the dice gave me the perfect opportunity to showcase how different warriors fight. Dayajeet Dewana aspires to the ideal of a MechWarrior as a chivalrous knight in shining armor. Lisbeth Braun on the other hand is an AFFC veteran who's had a front row seat to her nation breaking apart over a petty squabble between noble siblings. She's given up on ideals.

    Great match the phoenix Hawk was out weighed plus the auto hits from the SRM6s didn't help. Keep up the great work. ❤😂

    What a game! I also really like how you've put together these battle reports. Not sure if you have house rules against it, but 3:56 might have been a good opportunity for a cheeky push/charge to win for Lisbeth (and might have saved her that lost arm and a painful head hit besides!). I'm sure the arena fans appreciated the more intense and sporting resolution. Please keep these wonderful reports coming!

    That was a pretty fun fight.
    What's the story with the whole glancing blow thing? Is there a rulebook that comes from, or is it a homebrew rule?

    • @scottsgameroom1
      @scottsgameroom1  Před 6 měsíci +5

      Glancing and direct blows are an optional rule in Tac Ops. If the hit roll is exactly the target number, it does half damage (or penalties on the cluster roll). For every 3 greater than the target number, it gets +1 damage (or a bonus on cluster rolls). They’re not an option I normally play with, but I’ve been having fun with them for these 1-on-1 fights. Solaris feels like the right place to bring out a bunch of the optional rules.

      @@scottsgameroom1I agree! I think some other things are a good idea as well, like sprinting, and extreme range, perhaps?

    • @scottsgameroom1
      @scottsgameroom1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@TheManyVoicesVA I should do a blog post sometime with the set of options I'm using for the Solaris matches. Sprinting is on the list along with skilled evading, but neither has been used in a game yet. Extreme ranges aren't in use.

      @@scottsgameroom1 Ah tac ops. Still don't have that book. That seems like an interesting variant rule... initially it feels like it's mainly just going to slow things down by reducing a lot of damage on an exact hit (which happens a lot) while only increasing damage on +3 hits (which happens quite a bit less - and the increase is not equivalent anyways). I'm not a fan of rules that slow the game down. Battletech is already a pretty slow game, there's no need to slow it further right? Same goes for rules like "oh it's night, every shot takes a penalty" or "it's windy, every shot takes a penalty" or what have you. Those rules are very thematic, sure, but if they take a 3 hour game and make it a 5 hour game... to me that's not really moving in the right direction :P
      I agree with you that a 1v1 duel is the right moment to bring out the "interesting details" rules as their chance to slow things down isn't magnified across 8 units, just 2! :)

    I am pretty new to BT. I have been playing it with family but after watching this i feel like i am playing wrong? It seems multiple times one player would get into the rear arc of another but the one facing away still got to shoot back? I thought Torso twisting only moved you one hex side to the right or left. that wouldn't be enough to return fire at someone directly behind you. Right?

    • @scottsgameroom1
      @scottsgameroom1  Před 2 měsíci +1

      That is an advantage of arm-mounted weapons. They enjoy a firing arc that is a hex face wider on their side than the arc for torso and head mounted weapons. That means that after a torso twist, one arm’s weapons can fire directly behind a mech. Some mechs (those without any lower arms) can also flip their arms to fire both arms’ weapons behind them.
