At least 1 person per generation is playing except for ID Gen 1 & Holostars Gen 3
Kinda has been a theme to some degree with most console streamers as of the last 2 or 3 years
I mean when DMC5 came out so many of them played it without having even touched or heard of the previous games
At least many like Gura enjoyed it so much they went back to play the older ones when they got rereleased on Switch and Xbox One
If you wanna be technical (and for nuzlocks), fire type is usually an easy choice because they're the rarest type of the 3, grass usually not a good offensive type beside the first couple gyms and water you can almost always fish for a Magikarp before the first gym.
Exceptions can be made depending on the game, where gym+e4 typing can make a good starter the better choice

I alway pick fire type :l they are rare and some starter can learn flamethrower for free too, and picking fire type mean easy run because the only gym they weak again are water and earth which often be late or mid game gym. And most firetype starter can learn fighting move before first gym anyway.
@@soninh4357 There is also Ice. Plus Flying type because in Diamond/Pearl Gen, Chimchar is also a fighting type moster. Which is also why its good to pick him.

*Dumps Poke Balls out of the briefcase, closes it, ignores the Poke Balls completely, and starts bludgeoning the Starly to death with the briefcase as Barry watches in more horror than when the birds were attacking them*
The unfortunate thing is that BDSP uses DP's Pokémon pools, meaning that Chimchar is one of only TWO fire-type options available to you without having to go out of your way and dive into the underground, and would have been BY FAR the safest choice under Nuzlocke rules for this reason (virtually no risk of type overlap, something that can happen in Nuzlockes).
I repeat - there are only TWO fire-type Pokémon lines in BDSP's regional dex: the Chimchar line and the Ponyta line.
Chimchar definitely makes things a lot easier, and I never realized that Ponyta was the only other Fire-type besides the one you can get Underground... what a weird choice, but maybe this means that the Nuzlocke will be harder/more entertaining? lmao

The Chimchar disrespect, though. I had one the first time I played, and Infernape carried my team through the Elite 4. Good times.
First time i played i picked turtwig, torterra and staraptor carried me through the entire game. Somehow swept cynthia with those two on my second try when i was like 7. I always thought Infernape had the worst design out of the three so I never picked him even though he is objectively the most useful, beat the game without a single fire type lol.
@@snandrew6094 honestly for me I think turtwig has the least good design, turt never really did it for me, nether did it's evolutions. And piplup is cute and impolion is awesome, I don't like prinplup. Chimchar is the only one where I love all three stages of evolution.

If they're gonna do a tournament, hope those who did a nuzlocke can still use those that died.
Or, they can go all out, and make it so that even those that faint in the tournament, count towards the Nuzlock.
Problem with this is, while those who didn't will have their fully evolved trained starters/pokemon while the nuzlocke people don't. Calli with Prinplup for example. Unless they give time to train and make a level cap.
Maybe make it so that the deceased can only be in the party in the underground (not used in battle) and actually used in tournaments?
So glad Turtwig is finally getting respect. Always thought my little guy was the least liked out of the 3 starters, its great to see him getting recognition
It learns earthquake so you have a better chance against a certain garchomp, but god is it slow

Well, had she went with the fire route, unless the remake made some changes, I think that would limit her to like, two Pokemon.
@@Tommy9834 The underground has areas where you can get more fire pokemon but I only ever found a houndoom. Pearl version has magby to catch in the underground I think.

the starters on gen 4 are quite balanced type wise with the 3rd evo second typing covering the rivals main type, thing is monke is too fast he is by far the better choice ,but 10 years ago i choose turtwig cus "world turtle haha" never going back TURTWIG GANG.
I mean the issue is Infernape is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other 2 and the fact there are straight up no fire types in gen 4.
@@amethonys2798 yeah even in the remakes they only add 2 more fire types till post game and even then magby is pearl exclusive. So if not infernape then you’re stuck with houndoom or rapidash which are both vastly inferior. But for the other starters there’s a strong grass alt in Roserade, an insane number of good ground types, tons of water types and a good couple of steel types.
@@InSpades0 Lucario is a steel type and lots of water types can do piplup's work but there is no one that does what chimchar's evolution line does in these games, chimchar can deal with nearly all pokemons these games throw at you with its versatyle movepool with lots of diferent move types, its speed and by having both great physical and special attack stats.
I remember arguing with someone yesterday because they said Empoleon is better than Infernape because Infernape can't OHKO Empoleon. Which is kinda true since Infernape can't OHKO a Max Def Empoleon without the expected item,Life Orb. But who the heck runs a max def Empoleon smh.

Gible is still in the secret section of wayward cave, but that's locked behind strength because faithful to DP moment
Shion owns one. There is a better option to get Gible in BDSP. After received 7th badges, Gible is available in underground nest, which is visible on map, high rate to spawn, and level 40+ when my team average level 50.

Calli has one and it's on the third evolution currently
Always take the monkey because he is one of only two fire types in the first versions of these games
I will say gen 4 is the perfect chance to test non fire, grass and water pokemon.
You got Shinx, you got Starly, you got Ghost pokemon for days (Dusknoir, Mismagius, Ghastlys, Spiritomb, Frostlass). You got Garchomp, lucario, pretty decent fossil pokemon, you got a pretty varied roster of bugs, Vespiqueen(yeah I know combee is the worst pokemon ever, but getting a female one is excellent), The Moth branch, Kriketune, you got quite a nice variety of psychic types, Medicham, Alakazam, Gardevoirs and Gallades, you got electivire, you got Togekiss (before gen 4 you could only get Togetic) you got Bronzong which is an excellent tank, unknown still suck, you got Scorpion (its evolution makes it a Chad), you can get Yanmega, you can get Blissey, you can get a Toxicroak, you can get Magnezone, Drifloom, you can get the absolute Chad Gliscor, Weviles, the absolute epic Hippowdon, getting the majestic Mamoswine, the ugly probopass(seriously why).
In little words Gen 4 gives you a good variety of non elemental pokemon. Seriously, kinda crap not to make new evolutions in the best balancing Gen.
When I play any Pokemon game their starter when I was like 7 or 10 on Pokemon Ruby nuzlocke I always pick fire type like torchic Pokemon because it's cool and It's reminds me of natsu from fairy tail

As a Turtwig fan because he becomes a tower of force with a tree in his back i am now more in love to people that picked my boy Turtle gang rise up
Since watching all these streams and starter choices, I never knew Piplup was this popular. As a kid I always chose Turtwig. He’s cute and Torterra is such a cool looking Pokemon.

It's so weird seeing no one pick chimchar me and everyone I knew back then picked the fire monkey
Got to be honest I never fully understood the full appeal of Piplup
I mean sure it’s cute as heck but it’s latter forms drop the cuteness for not as cool or interesting looks as Turtwig or Chimchar
Not to mention I was never a fan of it having no proper trade off for its growth
Turtwig loses speed but becomes a damn fortress
Chimchar loses defense growth but is incredibly fast
Piplup at best can get the special boosts for attack and defense but I’ve always found it a bit hard to pick the right moves to compensate for whether it’s got great attack or special attack and to account for its drop in speed leading to hitting second most of the time
Its a fockin pengiun m8 idk what you expected they all just further emphasize their aesthetic each evo for all 3 starters???
Also water steel is just a neat type combo also i like that its a balanced middle ground between the 2 others considering the rock paper scissors reversal they did with the typings so each has a way to beat the other (though empoleons does require him to use ice instead of steel)
@@darkjackl999 oh I understand that it just kinda bothered me that by and large whether it was Vtubers or other let’s players playing this version for the first time, meaning they never played Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, they just think:
“Oh cute penguin” and pick it almost immediately or after a short time of thinking
And while I think Water/Steel is a nice combo to me it threw me off since I was used to the old me that first played Diamond I skipped Piplup as a starter for the other two
And when I found out it got Steel at its Final form I got thrown off since I usually had my water starter learn my Ice Move or two for late game since most Ice Types are later game
But now I feel kinda cut off since I feel obligated to make sure Empoleon nows 1 or 2 Water Moves and 1 or 2 Steels moves limiting versatility for Ice

But in general Empoleon being also Steel doesn’t add much to the grand scheme of things in its Gen
None of the later gyms, Elite 4, or Champion use Poison types as a signature
In fact all of them have a Ground type or at least have Pokémon that uses Earthquake or a similarly powerful Ground move that would make Empoleon’s Water type less useful now
And Flint isn’t as easy to beat since it’s Steel type weakens it’s Water defense to Fire to normal damage instead of Ineffective
Not to mention also adds Fighting types as a weakness too
So it gains weakness that Gym Leaders, Elite 4, and the champ use
And an immunity NONE of them use as a tactic or more then a move or two in their entire team
Can't wait to see the FBK part
