- Today we're creating a FREE Mixed Media & Encaustic Collage painting. This was originally created for Donna Downey's Find out Fridays Series.
We'll unbox this lovely surprise and begin the process of layering papers and fun mixed media textures to our board. This is a really fun project and introduction to using stencils and images to create a textured encaustic collage. Let’s begin!

Ivy, you are truly talented. I am new to encaustics and you've really inspired me to be brave. Thank you for these amazing tutorials.
I love how you have repurposed your ceramic tools!
Great work, Ivy! 👍
Very cool to see the process. You have nice hands Ivy.
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed watching!
Thank you so much Ivy, I really really love ❤️ this, it’s really really stunning and gorgeous too. And I really really love how you’ve incorporated the picture into the canvas, now it looks so much more than a picture, it’s looks like you’ve draw it. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thank you Mags! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome step by step video with great explainations
brilliant! I love your mindset.
HI Ivy, I taught the Encaustic class today as I mentioned. While brushing the melted wax (pellets) onto the canvas, the wax dried so fast it didn't have an opportunity to spread smoothly. It left a rough, blotchy almost crusty raised surface. I was mortified.
Im an instructor and teaching encaustics for the first time, thre are so amny ways people do this art, Im trying to figure out a way to do it simply but interesting. Im watching your video now.
Beautiful!
You are so inspiring thank you.

Jeri Bellini i
absolutely stunning! and so different too, I love it! xx
I'm convinced google knows more about me than they should...they sent me here in some unforeseen route.
Hi! I have enjoyed watching this tutorial! Since it is a few years now, I'm wondering how the piece has held up since it has acrylic under the wax.
Beautiful! Quick question, every encaustic video I’ve watched says to never use acrylics on a project because they don’t mix well with the encaustic medium. Was the clear gesso how you made this work?
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks!
this is so beautiful your crazy talented! I'd never think of using pictures from Pinterest I've learned a lot from this tutorial!
Your welcome can't wait to see more of these!! 😊
never mind! I see how you used the image as a guide! excellent!
Wow. I looked at that stencil & had no idea what could be done with it. And that picture of the woman, which I adore, is absolutely perfect. What, exactly, did you search for on Pinterest in order to find her??
Phyllis Coppolino ...I would love to know this, too.
Love to have a list of the supplies you use. 🌹
Yes no problem...just go here and you can access the materials and the resources I use. :) lessons.ivynewport.com/into-the-light
Thank you for watching! :)
Waw 👏👏👏
Awesome!!
Loved the stamp too! Could I plz know from where to get it? Thanks a heap!
Can you use mod podge instead of clear gesso!?
Like doing the sides, nice 👏 , walnut ink .. can I ask why heat gun instead of blow dryer to dry ?? Thanks 👍
Hi, what did you call the shop, from who you bay stencils ? Love you work..
Why do you use the clear gesso?
It's a gorgeous piece. Fun to watch you work! I have a question about the woman: since it's from a printout, is it archival? fade over time?
This is so incredibly beautiful. Where can I find the same picture of the girl in the doorway? Is there a specific search I can type on Pinterest? Thank you!
I really love this... You are not afraid of copyright Infringement using images off the net/pinterest?
I'm not selling it so no I"m not. Plus I'm pretty sure it's a vintage image so it's probably copyright free anyway. :) Thanks for watching!
This is a beautiful piece. My question is, I was always told you can't mix acrylic paint and encaustic wax. Is this true?
I'm wondering this too. Please tell.
Correct. You cannot mix acrylic and wax
Every well-known encaustic instructors including R&F experts say DO Not apply wax over acrylic. It will eventually pop off!!! Glue papers down with a Yes, paste, or glue sticks. Do not put acrylic paints under wax!
@@zartist what about a NeutralPH Adhesive or Modgepodge?
Hi Ivy I am working on this and am having a great time but I don't know what size to make the woman. Can you let me know? Thanks Francine
♥️😁
I love this image! Wnere did uou get the rusted wire?
why didn't you transfer her into the wax?
I want to get a subscription box like the one you featured in this video. May I have a link?
You used Gell for the paper to stick and glue for the woman , why?
can you use geso as glue too?
can whe find the lady on your art piece to ?
Beautiful but products are a lil bit $$... but nice! 👍 I appreciate your work and inspiration!
Thank you! 😊
Where is the encaustic?
Sorry, more videos
