Neither can I, and I grew up seeing bathrooms like those. Kind of makes me nostalgic now...they were a little hokey, but also kinda happening.
I laughed so hard at the pictures because she is exactly right!!!! It does look like the old bathroom colors for sure. Not my vib at all. LOL

“Old bathrooms” made me laugh so hard! 😂 I’m so glad someone else loves that Covergirl foundation. It is one of my favorites. Looks so nice on the skin and covers everything. I think I’ll wear it tomorrow!

i waited a handful of years before jumping to get any of her pallets and im glad i did because i got not only the new retro glam but the 5 pan one as well because those r my colors! i do plan on getting one more later as well because her pallets are just stunning!

Yes! I have it and love it, though I agree with Emily that your average makeup lover will be perfectly happy with just the original mini over the new midi. The midi is for people who are utterly in love with those kinds of colors.
Yup, Mel Thompson created her "I wish there was a large size ND Retro - using Sydney Grace, which Sydney Grace released pretty much the same time that ND came out with this full size retro.

The nars powder is my favorite! - especially for minimal makeup days. It is so light that I don't think it has enough weight to set a full coverage foundation though. I find it works well for me as I have dry skin and I don't wear foundation, only concealer and sometimes a tinted moisturizer. I sweep it over my t-zone and pat a little under my eyes, wherever I put my fit-me concealer with a real techniques setting brush. If you want a mattifying powder this isn't for you, but if you want to give your skin a subtle blur and lock in a light base makeup, it's fantastic - so skinlike and beautiful and doesn't emphasize dryness.
I think your eyeshadow looks amazing! I like that it’s not as super dark or deep in the outer corner like you usually do. I’d like to see you go even lighter out there with a soft pure medium color as opposed to deep. You look younger without all that darkness
As someone with very fair skin who loves color, I appreciate the different undertones of the NARS cheek palette and love the lighter take on color of the ND retro glam palette
The Nars baked gelee formula actually works really well with a beauty blender. Grind the butt of the sponge into the blush then bounce on your cheeks. It’s easier to get color that way than digging in them with a brush.

I also find that the black elf brushes pick up far less product than an RT or similar brush. I use them for my super pigmented blush when I don't want to go too intense.

I very much wanted to get the Retro Glam palette, but I did a lot of review research and ended up getting the Sydney Grace Mel Thompson bundle that is essentially the same color story, but more pigmented with 5 additional colors. It was a perfect opportunity to try Sydney Grace for the first time. Thanks for your honest review!

I just bought the Retro Glam Natasha, DeNona palette, or even as an anchor, for some of my more bold looks incorporating Pat McGrath, shadows. Bit too chunky in the glitter department for me because I have mature eyes. Natasha’s formula just nails it. I have only purchased the midi size palettes and a few of her minis. I am seriously considering purchasing the My Dream palette, since it has some of the DEPTH that the Retro Glam LACKS, but yet is not as neutral as the glam palette. I’m quite lukewarm about the original midi Retro palette because I don’t like looking like a vampire extra from the Twilight Series.
You nailed it. I can so see the bathroom colors in this palette. In fact, one of the apartments I lived in while in college had the pink, green color tiles and tub with the black and white tiled floor. Whoa, that takes me back. But the eye look created was gorgeous.
The retro glam is an everyday palette for me:) I love it and it's by far my favourite ND palette and I own most of them. It does already come in a mini btw :D

I used rhe beauty blend puff thing with the nars light reflecting powder! I put it under my eyes,it's the only powder I have ever used that perfectly sets my under eye without looking dry,matte and cakey!!! and I like to use it once I have all my face makeup on and use a big fluffy brusg and buff it all over my face it melts everything together beautifully!!!

I am loving the Natasha Denona palette I am all about cool tones and love greens.

I love the color story of the ND palette but I already ordered one like it from Sydney Grace x Mel Thompson. I won’t get it until December but I’m more than happy to help out Mel’s family with the purchase. It’s very similar to the ND but has more depth. People were saying ND copied the SG palette but I don’t think it’s the case. It takes a long time to make a palette or any makeup products for that matter. I love you so much Emily! I bought the ND Glam palette because every time I saw it I fell in LOVE! And I use it almost every single day. I've never seen another palette that moved me that way. And I am CRACKING UP about the bathroom comparison! That is so spot on!!

I think the ND palette is stunning! I do agree, I would probably want a matte brown in there, but you showed us how to make it work!
Actually you look gorgeous with that eyeshadow on and that blush, I love the texture because it´s very transparent on the skin, not powdery at all.
I think the Nars blushes are baked gelee and those type formulas usually apply better with natural hair, dense brushes. Or just dense brushes in general.
Hi Emily! The Nars blush palette is a baked gelee. You need to use a firm brush. Preferably a natural hair brush, but a firm brush will work!
I LOVE these holiday blush palettes. This particular one has lots of dimension.
Evergreen is a cream to powder shade 🥰 there are two in the my dream palette as well. Natasha uses that formula because it's easy to blend and has no fallout
You're not the first I've heard make the comparison to the ND pallette and Grandma's bathroom. With that being said though I would have loved this pallette at 17 , 1984, I wouldn't turn it down now . The look you made was very pretty. Thanks for all you do for us !💕
i just realized that the retro palette reminds me of living rooms in the 90s. floral print couches, hunter green carpets and beige or pink curtains. hunter green was very popular for car colors too😆
I love Natasha Denona. I could use that pallet every day. The colors match my uniform.
I use the Nars Light reflecting powder to bake my undereye; I find it looks less flat than most other powders. But I use the loose version, I have had the pressed version before and I feel like it almost starts off with hard pan. Have a nice Thanksgiving!
The 1st look shown using that palette was my HANDS DOWN FAVE.
😂The old bathrooms comparison is so hilarious and accurate 😂 My mom told me when she was growing up in the 60s their phone and refrigerator were that green type of colour, it's official name was Avacado Green!

I can't unsee "old bathrooms" vibe of the ND palette. That made me lol! The house I grew up in was built and designed by my grandparents. One bathroom had the vibe - a peach colored tub and green walls. The other bathroom had yellow tile and orange walls. 🫠😶🌫️🙈

The retro glam is totally old school bathroom- which I would love in my bathroom but not my eye shadow palette. I do still love the dream palette tough. The whole dream collection really.
The NARS powder does nothing. I swear. I got sucked in with the valentines packaging and I’m convinced it’s a fake product. 🤣🙃
I haven’t tried the newer buxom lip liners because the old ones last forever. And I’m not even halfway through any of them. But I do love their products.
Hi Emily as someone with really pale/cool toned skin the ND palette does excite me - not too much depth (dark shades just look dark and lose all colour) and I love the pale greens and pinks. It's the first palette I've been excited by since the Huda rose quartz last Xmas. Best wishes.

That NARS setting powder is the absolute best I’ve ever tried, I’m not a big setting powder person. I just swipe my damp beauty blender on it and dab it on my face and it is amazing, it doesn’t dry my skin out like every other powder ❤

The retro glam palette is a partner to the glam palette from a couple of years ago, that's where you can pull the darker colors from. I bought it and like it but I agree it's more of a spring palette
That ND palette reminds me of Lime Crime's Venus XL, which I loved the look of, but didn't think performed well. Pondering the ND palette now; it does look like the shadows are much higher quality than the Lime Crime ones. Because, yes, those are everyday colors for me; I adore wearing bright & colorful eye looks!
I had been waiting for you to review that blush palette. I ended up getting it during the Sephora sale. It’s perfect for my pro kit because they build! They aren’t just strong pigment right off the bat and that’s why I liked them! Easy to build and create your perfect shade by mixing.
Now THATS the look I was hoping to see from the retro glam palette. I kept thinking “why am I seeing all these eye looks from this palette with no deeper shade to anchor it?” Emily did it! So awesome. I always love the eye looks because she understands that we need a little depth and definition in our eye looks to make them so beautiful and wearable. That was my only issue with the pastel palette and why I love the My Dream palette so much. I need depth in my eye looks!

So I got that pallet and I kind of love it. I've made it my everyday palette just to justify the price and really push myself to try new color combos. I actually got it because I loved the wants so much and especially that green I've been on a hunt for that exact light green that you put in the wants palette. This one definitely scratches the edge but I'm glad I got it on sale.
You prefer, and look lovely in, a very deep eye shadow look. Your coloring supports that. A person with lighter hair color would shine in these colors - and could enjoy it every day. The quality is great, and it's a good expansion of the five-pan Retro palette, which is a treat to wear.
The Revlon foundation looks really good, it made your complexion look fantastic...

I love the "old bathroom" analogy! I grew up in a 60s house with a pink bathroom with mint green accents. The bathroom in our first marital house was green with pink and pale grey!
I still can’t get over wishing elf would do a blush palette with five of the existing (or new) blush duos! You nailed it with that idea! Buxom lip liners are great, hush hush henna is a perfect everyday but the fun plum and ruby shades are so flattering too. I’ve been trying to buy more sharpenable lip liners though since it’s more economical … at $19 the price per ounce way exceeds Charlotte tilbury lip cheats
Price per ounce, maybe you should have your own channel or tiktok to help out budget minded people, especially these days! 🙂

My eyes are basically the same colour as the light greens in the ND palette... I also am quite fair and love green with pink. So I'm thinking to buy the palette. It will work great for me.

The Nars powder is my holy grail under eye setting powder. It is the only powder that doesn’t make my under eyes dry and the lines exaggerated. I just dust a light layer under my eyes and it’s wonderful!

I have been using the Nars powder for years - I use it to set my concealer with a beauty blender. It never looks cakey or powdery and it does the job. :)
I love your in depth reviews and not just your opinion, because for me, the review on the blush is what i want. I don’t like bold blushes. I want soft and buildable so for me the pallet would be perfect.
I like using a dense blush brush with my Nars baked blushes. My favorite is my Tom Ford blush brush it easily picks up blushes with hard packed formulas. I agree with you about the Retro palette it's cute but not necessary, not enough depth. I brought it because I love Natasha Denona's eye shadows.Great review!

Hi Emily! Thanks for another awesome video and your honest thoughts! Some things:
1. Nars light reflecting pressed powder - its a silica based powder and is pressed pretty hard. Many people have said you need to scrape off/break through the top layer before you get to the product beneath and can use it normally. I personally use the loose version under my eyes. It's super lightweight and never ever feels cakey if you apply a soft amount.
2. Nars blush palette - this is a baked gelée formula meaning its a wee bit different than a regular baked formula. The formula is smoother but is stiffer and needs a natural or stiffer haired brush to pick up the product. The application ends up being very smooth and radiant as the baked formula was originally a gel/cream. It's a favourite formulation for a lot of people including tarababyz and michele Wang!

The Mini Retro palette IS my favorite Mini. I LOVE that little thing! It's the reason for this palette.
Also if you know who Mel Tompson was.....She passed away a little over a year ago? She made ehr own version of the Mini Retro mixed with the Glam palette using Sydny Grace shadows. They honored her and sold that actual color palette she put together. So very sweet of SG♥♥♥♥
Hey Em, I'd love to see you do a video on the 12 color season analysis. I think I'm a deep winter, but not too sure. There are a lot of women who are having trouble determining the best color palette for their skin tone, color saturation and hue. Thanks for another great video!

That NARS palette is beautiful! It’s pretty just by looking at the pan itself.
There’s only so many palettes one needs for an everyday look which is a point for palettes with different color stories. I love variety!
I’m thinking that as you are a person who loves and relies on powders that you are being thrown off by the silky texture of the Nars powder. I go in lightly! with powders and love a lightweight powder so I might have to add that one on my wishlist :)

That NARS pallet does best with a natural bristle brush. Something a little scratchier. They’re baked gellé.
I'm 58 (almost) and I wouldn't use any other concealer than the NYX Bare With Me. It doesn't crease, it takes so little to do so much and I rarely set it. Love it.
I love the NARS light reflecting powder. I use the pressed powder underneath my eyes only. I’ve finally found my ride or die under eye powder. I use the loose to set my t zone. I love that it feels as though you haven’t used powder at all.

I came for the ND Retro glam palette and the NARS blush palette. I just bought myself the ND RG palette recently off Mercari. It was NEW, never opened or used, and I paid $40. I love greens and pinks so this was up my alley. I love the tones of the NARS blush palette. So pretty. Blush and shadows are hits for me when it comes to makeup.
Hi Emily, the house I grew up in had the green tile on the bathroom wall and we has a pink toilet. Those colors in the palette definitely bring back memories of my childhood days.

I have NEVER liked instant age rewind. For whatever reason it just never sat right under my eyes but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the nyx concealer. I have used close to a whole bottle of it in less than 6 months.

Your eyes do NOT say 1960’s bathroom. This spring you might just change your mind on the palette. It’s quite lovely on your eyes. If she went smaller with the palette, she’d need to include the greens you have on today!

I have the My Dream one and I love it. I do love the colors in the new one. I would like to try the two together. I am really wanting that NARS blush, it is beautiful and talc-free. Since I always have to tone down my blush in order not to look crazy, I need a sheer one.
I love you Emily. You are 100% honest about all the products you try. You don't try to upsale us on the higher brands. You like drugstore as well as we do. I do love the superhero mascara and the skyhigh. Thank you for being you. I would never buy that eye palette.

The Evergreen shade in the ND palette is a cream to powder formula. I will forever now think of this as the old timey bathroom palette lol.
Emily, you had me laughing at the vintage bathroom visual of the ND pallet. I gotta say that she did release a mini version months back. However, I know you’re not to fond of the pallet like most people on here but for me, I love it. It makes my brown eyes pop and it was too early for release, I think spring time would be a great pallet and definitely will reach for mines during that time.
