Great video tutorial! I also have an X6 with wooden trims, but for now I have no cracks. Finger crossed. I have most of your videos related to X6 and big kudos for that. You are doing an awesome job with details and easy to follow.

I have problem with the upper lid. The leather is coming undone. Is removing the top lid the same?

Given the age and shade difference of the faux woodgrain, surely it would be easier to rub the clear down on the cracked wood and spray new 2K clearcoat on it? At least all the shades will match.

In order to do that, you're taking the panel out anyway. A cost savings? Perhaps. While it's out, might as well renew the part, is my philosophy.

My concern was the shade difference between the new and old that he mentioned. It would stick out like dog nuts I reckon.@@clevelandaeromotive

The last video shot is the "after" I had also replaced the driver's side door wood panel. The arm rest console wood trim doesn't get very much direct sunlight. The rest of the pieces are too far apart to tell. It really doesn't stand out like dog nuts. The buyers (husband and wife) were grateful I did the replacement for them. @@miceinoz1181

Please try to separate the wooden part and the nickel-plated part from the plastic. Decorative parts riveted or glued? I am engaged in furniture and want to restore them.

I honestly don’t know how they attach the brushed aluminum part to the wooden part. I imagine they are plastic rivets somewhere on the part. Wish I could be more helpful.
